I've played all of the FF mainline titles since their release stateside, and this entry, while containing a very open world and some active combat less common in the series, did not disappoint. The deluxe edition is totally worth it for the artwork, steel book, and Kingsglaive movie located within that helps set up some story elements that take place within the game. Completely worth it!

This entry into the Final Fantasy (FF) series is definitely a bigger leap from action-oriented RPG than an of the newer generation iterations of Final Fantasy games. While, the open-world part is definitely fun and entertaining, there are definite misses in the second-half of the game as it loses that and goes back to a very linear progression, but misses the nostalgia of the older FF games. Still overall fun, and gorgeous to look at and play is all definitely solid.

I've been playing FF series since FF7. If FF7 is the best of the series, then this is probably the 2nd best. The open-world is awesome. I can do what I want to do and when I want to do. Overall, the graphic and gameplay is excellent.

Game is fun. Story is lacking though. The adventure is definitely the focus although not well paced or structured. Don't recommend the Deluxe edition. Buy the movie separately.

I've been a fan of this series since I played FF6. I know a lot of people are down on this series lately, but I still enjoy most installments. This edition comes with a nice steel book and the Kingsglaive movie. I enjoyed the movie, it could be because I've followed the series for so long, but regardless it has some information that probably should be in the game. The game itself is half open world and half linear, I'm enjoying the optional hunts and some side missions are better than others. The biggest problem is the same as most open world games, repetitive mission types and the battle system, while fun is a little chaotic. Overall I really like this game's world and characters and would say fans and anyone interested should really give this game a shot.

This game is so massive. When u put it in there is a four hr update, so be prepared for that. There are so many side quests that you can do and it took awhile to get use to the controls and what does what. The graphics are great and food looks real enough to eat.

The gameplay and storyline for this game are intriguing and definitely leave you wanting more. Hundreds of hours of gameplay and Square Enix has announced several expansions to come with the season pass. A must buy for any gamer!

I was recently introduced to the Final Fantasy series so I may not be a purist. I love this game. This is one of the few games I have put over 50+ hours into. There is so much to do at the end of the game. Worth it 1000x over.

I bought this game since I'm a big fan and was not disappointed with it. The graphics are great, story is awesome, and there's lots to do. Also came with the movie that gives some background story to compliment the game.

Great game, quick to pick up and play even with the change in combat style(it plays more like Kingdom Hearts now) really good story so far and I love the graphics, they really seem to push the system to the next level.

Legend of Final Fantasy XV: Noctis Journey

If the new Legend of Zelda plays similarly to this as far as exploration and monster hunts then I'm in trouble. I've been playing this game everyday since I've gotten it and despite all the negative reviews, I am still having a blast.
Meeting Noctis and the crew it's definitely a change from the usual brightly dressed FF characters of old. The story can be a bit confusing if you didn't watch any of the prelaunch material but still enjoyable nonetheless. Gameplay is fluid, great for action junkies. Wait mode gives the old FF fans something to enjoy. Options to change LANGUAGE is a welcome addition.
There are points of the game that can be monotonous. Monster after monster hunt can be a pain. But it gives a nice break inbetween the main questline. For myself, I'm actually level 74 and only in chapter 7. It's easy to get distracted. Even being overleveled the game still throws in some ridiculously overpowered enemies to balance things out so it won't just be a cakewalk.
For a bit more, get the steelbook edition. You get the movie which helps explain a little about whats happening storywise and the quality of the classic FF art is something to enjoy. Highly recommended!!!

I highly recommend playing this game in UHD (4k) It has the depth of story and characters that the older games had, and the graphics are amazing! I've played this game more than I have any game in years, I love it!

After having played several hours of the game so far, I'm impressed with the details of the world. Not only is exploration fun, it's exciting and rewarding with new events taking place in areas already visited, making for an enjoyable experience in revisiting areas already explored. Combat isn't just mindless button mashing, as you must be on your toes with dodges, parries, paying attention to warp points, and strategy in general. This installment in the Final Fantasy series will quickly draw you into the detailed world of Eos and provide a large variety of ways to enjoy the game.

I have only had the chance to play for a couple of hours and I am already in love. The game is beautiful and delivers much of the same allure that the other installments provided. The special features are exciting and fresh and the battle mode definitely provides the needed diversity.
The controls may take some getting used to and figuring out how to save took a minute (select the options button on the controller). The game takes you through the controls pretty efficiently, but it all requires quite a bit of practice in order to really be efficient. My suggestion is to train a bit before trying to get into anything too heavy.
I am likely to purchase more copies as gifts for friends that are fans of the franchise!

Different Format, But Great Game

Definitely not your traditional FF. This game's layout resembles more a witcher/skyrim feel than Final Fantasy. Throwing you right into an open world filled with sidequests. Traditionally in FF's sidequests are still "story oriented" (collecting ultima weapons, fighting weapons, obtaining optional characters, etc) but these are full-on unrelated side quests. And more often than not FF will weave through a linear story line, letting your get your barrings down, before introducing you to the "world map." Not here. I'm currently 25 hours into the game and am still on chapter 2. This game can be as short or as long as you desire to make it. So far the game is very enjoyable. The combat system is better than previous iterations (FFXIII) but still leaves some to be desired. The magic system feels out of place and half crafted. Maybe Im just not far enough into the game yet but so far its not for me. I will say the creators were on point when they said "A Final Fantasy for fans and first timers." It is that. Its far removed from the traditional layout and world we're used to, but is in no way far from enjoyable.

I prefer the old turn based RPG BUT this game is pretty good. It's huge. Beautiful. Fun side quests. I just really suck at the combat and don't have much fun with it. Button mashing.

I've never been a fan of Final Fantasy gameplay but this one is great! It's not turn based and relatively easy to pick up and the story and characters make it even better.
