Customers are saying

Customers admire Final Fantasy XVI's impressive gameplay, captivating story reminiscent of Game of Thrones, and amazing music. The steelbook is also a highlight for many collectors. While some found the side quests and open world aspects less engaging, and noted some performance issues, the overall reception is overwhelmingly positive.

What an incredible installment in the Final Fantasy series. The world Creative Business Unit III has built here is absolutely stunning. The combat is not traditional for a Final Fantasy entry, but I find the lack of maintaining an entire party refreshing. Just like FFXIV, the story will draw you in and keep you entertained throughout the entirety of your 50 hours in the game. My only complaint, and this is simply because it's my personal preference in games, is that it's not open world. There are some rather large zones to explore. I know some people have preferred the more linear feel and found it refreshing in the current climate of massive open worlds. I would love to have had the option to explore this gorgeous world more freely.

One of the best stories the Final Fantasy franchise has produced! The boss fights are epic! Boasting some of video gaming best music and voice acting!

Like most fans ive been waiting in anticipation for the next main line titles to drop since its announcment all those years ago. And thankfully the wait was not in vain. FF16 has its flaws sure but over all the game has lived up to fans expectations. With its engaging gameplay allowing for player experimentation and a instresting and emotional story supported by quick to love characters, this entry in the long ongoing franchise is bound to be a fan favorite. Its certainly one of mine. Better yet the game also feels like a complete story and game, no dlc needed (though it is comming due to fan demand). You wont reget picking this one up

Final Fantasy switched up the format from RPG to button smashing. The game is like devil may cry but on puppy mode. There is no option to change the difficulty settings at all. If I were to change one thing, it would be that. The graphics and the story are good. Wouls recommend.

Love this game, Fantastic Story & Gameplay. The World Building is fantastic. An absolutely amazing soundtrack. Definitely my Game of the Year, enjoyed it more than Resident Evil 4 Remake.

As an action-oriented Final Fantasy game, it doesn’t get better than this. 80+ hours sunk into this game first time around and I loved every minute of it. Combat initially seems repetitive and bland, however, trying out different combinations and blending moves into the next takes lots of skill and precision. A Final Fantasy with a much more mature and darker tone. Its touches on all keys that made great FF entries what they are: unforgettable and deep story, memorable and engaging characters, tons of lore and world building, kingdoms and politics, and beasts that’ll shake the world to its core.

I am 25 hours into this game now, and it is superb. I say that as a long-time Final Fantasy fan of nearly 30 years. Getting used to action-based combat takes a little time and finesse, especially if you're not used to higher intensity action games a la Devil May Cry, Bayonetta, etc. The writing and production values on display are something to behold. It's rare for games to have truly genuine WOW moments in them anymore, but this games contains multiple, some occurring on an hourly basis. The musical scoring is likewise sublime, and I find myself engaged with and attached to the characters pretty quickly into the story. Highly recommended!

Good action entry to the Final Fantasy Franchise. It delivers the story of FF, but creates a fun combat whihc is action drive and puts the power in the player hands.

This is a game for both first timers and long time fans of the Final Fantasy series. The game has a VERY Game of Thrones feel to it and yes, it definitely plays more "action-y" than previous games. The only complaint that I do have about it is that it is a little too easy on the first playthrough. There is a new game plus that you can do once you finish the game and that you can do a harder difficultly run on that mode if you wish. It would have been nice to have that option from jump. The game also struggles to maintain a consistent 60 fps, but it never gets to the point where its unplayable in performance mode.

It's a fun ride with little replayability, I didn't even get the DLC because it would require me to relearn the combat system. Stunning visuals and emmersive world. The real hindrance to this being a masterpiece is the change from JRPG to ARPG.

It's an amazing entry in the series that focuses on single player action combat. Although the fighting system seems minimalistic at first it greatly deepens as you unlock more abilities and fight newer enemies. The story is of course it's focal point as any other final fantasy title . Although more centered on a singular character rather then a teamed roster from other titles. No to say there isn't a wide verity of cast that you love or hate . Would recommend to anyone looking for a great story with fast paced combat .

Completely worth every penny. The music, the story and most of all the captivating graphics make this an awesome addition to our game collection. The steel book it came with is very well done. The map is made of cloth not paper which was another huge bonus. As far as the gameplay itself, it's hard to describe. The menus are quite captivating and the graphics move.ao fluidly you almost forgot you aren't watching a movie. If you love the series already, this addition won't disappoint. Playing PS5 on a 55 LG OLED for reference.

This game is pretty epic. The graphics are amazing, the story is very interesting, and the combat is fun and addicting. It's a step up from FFXV, but I will say that I still do miss the traditional FF games. This game feels like it went a whole new direction for the series, which may be a good thing considering the last few entries weren't very successful with many long time FF fans. I'm enjoying this game a lot though, and it is one of my games of the year for sure, I highly recommend it.

The Dark Horse of Final Fantasy Titles

Whether or not you've ever played a Final Fantasy title, this game is unrelated to others in the series as far as its narrative. The voice acting is superb, every character is voice acted and many will make references to your actions. The setting and scope of the world are massive, built around lore that is slowly given as you learn about it through playing as Clive the protagonist. As protagonists are concerned, Clive isn't the atypical fantasy hero out to save the world. (No spoilers) He's out to make up for a wrongdoing, but the world is filled with strife just like our protagonist. Side characters are equally fleshed out, each one having their own purpose. There are optional side quests, some of which are humorous (mostly are rather dark). The combat is more akin to Devil May Cry, as it's action based rather than then based. You don't control any party members aside from Clive, but they each pull their own weight. Boss battles are massive and steal the show. Every boss encounter is packed to the brim with nail biting sequences. Though the change in an action based combat system and a darker storyline have generated more negative reviews, this is a game that shouldn't be missed. If you're looking for a more mature, subdued Final Fantasy, look no further. The series has finally pushed aside the glamor of light fantasy and embraced a story that is packed with emotion.
