One thing you can do to improve speed in your device is to free up RAM by making sure you do not have too many apps running in the background of your device slowing down your experience. You can do this by tapping the Multitask icon in the lower right of your screen and then swiping each app up to close or by swiping all the way to the right and tapping "Close All". The problem is, it's not actually possible to set up calling using the child profile as advertised. I tried four methods - using the child profile on the tablet, using an adult profile on the tablet, using an Amazon account on my phone, and using the web portal. I went through multiple online tutorials provided by both Amazon and reddit. It is not possible to add contacts to the child profile, which means it is not possible to make calls with the child profile. You're better off buying a cheap android tablet and a large protective case. You'll have to configure it yourself, but at least it's possible to set an android up to allow calling from a child profile to a limited list of pre-approved contacts.

Posted .So sorry you have had troubles creating the calling features for the Fire Tablet 7 Kids. Here are some step by step instructions to troubleshoot from the beginning.
Setting Up Communication Features in Amazon Kids. You must grant parental consent in order for your child to use communication features on their Fire tablet. You can also hide features on your child's tablet if you do not wish to grant parental consent. Go to parents.amazon.com. Select Settings icon next to child's name. Under Fire Tablet Settings, select Manage Communications To allow your child access click Grant parental consent and follow the on-screen instructions. If you do not want your child to see the features on their device, click Hide these features on Fire tablet. After granting consent, select the available features you want to enable for your child.
To Set up Calling on YOUR Tablet, (on your device open the Alexa app) Open the Alexa App. Select Communicate. Select the contacts icon. Select your name. Select your child's name. Select Add New Contact.
