I've been waiting for this game ever since I finished Fire Emblem: Awakening, and it did not disappoint! Highly recommended to anyone who loves Fire Emblem, strategy, dating sims, or waifus lol It's a really neat story and every playthrough of the game can be quite different! I really can't recommend it enough. The game comes in 2 variations (and a 3rd through dlc), Birthright and Conquest. I played through Birthright first, but also bought Conquest. Fantastic! My one thing I'll mention that Best Buy doesn't tell you, if you bought one of the games physically, and then the other as DLC you will NOT be able to use the DLC code through the regular 3ds store code redemption. You will need to play the game through Chapter 6, then you will be able to enter the code once you visit the Dragon's Gate. I had a few headaches about this system at first, but definitely past that now. Again, I can't recommend this game enough!

This game has it all. Good voice acting, animation sequences , controls, graphics, and story. Anime sequences is good enough to make a movie on. Battling graphics are top notch and flashy special attacks. This one is more forgiving than Conquest. Birthright is easier to play and a "hero of light" feel. Conquest is more battle-driven and "dark" plot. "Conqueror of lands" feel. Plus resources are scarce. So it makes you think and you have to be careful to survive. I recommend Birthright over Conquest. Birthright a friendlier version. Conquest if you're a skilled rpg veteran.

This game is a great purchase for anyone who enjoyed Fire Emblem: Awakening, or is looking to try out this series. This game is geared more towards newcomers; as opposed to Fire Emblem Fates: Conquest, which provides a challenge more akin to older games in the series. This game provides good graphics, gameplay, and story. The combat itself is great, but the interactions between the many characters keep you coming back for more.

To review just Fire Emblem Fates Birthright, I'd give it 3.5 out of 5 stars. It builds upon the Fire Emblem Awakening gameplay with a handful of balance tweaks and a couple of new abilities, such as Dragon Veins, which allow certain characters to permanently alter areas of any given map in real time. While the writing is characteristically good for a Fire Emblem game, the story fails to maintain any real interest, and is flat out cringeworthy at times. Thankfully, the strategic gameplay is as solid as ever, and doesn't detract from the game all that much. Those looking first and foremost for a rich story in an RPG won't find it here. Fire Emblem Fates Conquest brings with it a different approach to the same conflict presented in Birthright, with a marginally better story/plot, and trickier gameplay. Enemy units are more often outfitted with skills that will trip you up if you aren't mindful, and some map objectives present a higher difficulty than that found in Birthright. Fire Emblem Fates Revelation serves as the ultimate version of the branched storyline in Fire Emblem Fates, bringing both games' casts and gameplay together to bring the story to a full and proper conclusion. I've yet to beat Revelation, but so far it is shaping up to give Conquest (my favorite) a run for its money. For those looking for a no-frills Fire Emblem game out of Fates, I'd recommend starting with Birthright. For those who are already familiar with Fire Emblem and/or want a challenge, start with Conquest. The music is absolutely excellent in all three games, and the gameplay is generally solid. Overall, I'd give Fire Emblem Fates in its entirety 4.5 out of 5 stars.

Very enjoyable gameplay with lots of usable characters. It's on the easier side, but I found hard mode to be sufficiently challenging as most my mistakes often were punished. Great storyline which had some fantastic surprises that idiot see coming. Definitely recommend it if you like these styles of games (tactics/strategy based RPGs)

I hate to say it but I love this game more than Awakening. The story is a big improvement and I'm surprised how much I like all the characters. The gameplay is also more refined and there are even new classes. Stop thinking about it, just get this game.

I played Awakening, and while it was pretty good, it was hard. Eventually I lost interest. This one is much better. It can still present a challenge, but some of the difficulty settings offset and keep you engaged. The story is interesting, the characters are well done, and the combat is awesome. Highly recommended.

Fire emblem games are always awesome and they fit right in on the 3ds system. Conquest plays like the older fire emblem games while Birthright plays more like Awakening. Both games are awesome and take different story paths. A must play for fans of the series.

After loving Fire Emblem Awakening I was very excited to have a brand new Fire Emblem. However, Birthright failed to capture me with its characters the way Awakening did. All of the pieces are there to replicate the amazing experience of Awakening, but it ultimately fails to deliver memorable characters. The majority of the characters feel one-note or uninteresting, lacking any kind of complex personalities. The gameplay has received some fun twists that refresh the experience. New classes and twists on classic ones bring new kinds of strategies to experiment with, leading to fun character combinations. This is definitely a more difficult than Awakening, so if you’re looking for gameplay over story or character you may enjoy this game. Ultimately I’ve loved this series for its story and characters, leaving me disappointed.

Fire Emblem Fates Birthright is 1 of 3 story paths as the next entry in the Fire Emblem Series and can be likened to Fire Emblem Awakening in that you can grind out extra missions to level up your characters, build support relationships, etc. It's easier than Conquest and feels like it has less mission variety (but that doesn't make it any less fun) but the story makes it interesting throughout the 27 chapters. If you buy this game, you can buy the 2nd and 3rd path from the eShop for $20, so save 50% and only buy 1 hard copy if you must buy physical!

Great strategy game. Alot of downloadable content so expect to play more than just the game itself. I would not recommend buying conquest and birthright separately, it's best to purchase DLC in one game. The way it is set up for difficulty: Birthright < Conquest < Revelation < everything else. Oh and ALL downloads are done AFTER Ch. 6 through the Dragons Gate. GAMESTOP, BEST BUY, AMAZON don't tell u that. It's NOT through the eshop It's like the special edition but downloading everything separately.

I've played every single Fire Emblem game (that has been released in English), but I'll keep this short. The story is pretty mediocre. If you loved Awakening, you'll find a lot to love in Fates: Birthiright. If you loved previous Fire Emblem games, I'd actually recommend you play Conquest; the level design, difficulty, and overall flow of the game is more reminiscent of the older games if that's what you loved. Either way, this game takes the Fire Emblem formula and fixes a lot of the gameplay problems that were in Awakening. More professional reviews will do a better job of expounding upon those than I can here, but basically if you liked previous Fire Emblem, you'll find something to like in either version of Fire Emblem: Fates.

I am a huge fan of the Fire Emblem series and couldn't wait to get this one. After having played this for a couple of weeks, I feel this is a good game, not great. The main reason is because I just couldn't get immersed in this game like other Fire Emblems in the past. I believe the Fire Emblem for the Wii to be the greatest in the series. I will continue playing this game and hopefully I get more caught up in its beautiful scenery and graphics. The fighting system has been improved, and is also more challenging. I believe most fans of this series will love this game. I'm just hoping I can get that feeling of being part of this game like the other fire emblems have done for me.

I love FE and while it has been hit or miss lately this one is pretty good. It's a little on the easier side and the voice acting is not something I can for too much. I do feel like the setting and character designs are incredible. I absolutely love the character designs and get excited to see new characters. But, I prefer the mission layout in Awakening vs the generic map in this one.

Fire Emblem Fates: Birthright is one of 3 entries in the Fates family. Birthright brings the same Fire Emblem formula to the table but adds or changes some elements, mostly for the better. I highly recommend these games for any Fire Emblem veteran and for newcomers alike. Multiple difficulties with the option to turn off permanent deaths is very welcome.

This game is great! So far it's my favorite fire emblem game just based off of the first 9 chapters already. Great customization, support conversations, interesting story with twists and turns (seriously things escalate fast). Would recommend this to any fan of Fire Emblem! Even if you haven't played it before there's modes for newcomers too!
