I purchased this unit due to Nest discontinuing the smoke detector and carbon moxide detector. I'm disappointed with this unit not having the night light which was so useful in the hallway way night. However, the alarm is very loud which is good. It the setup was simple and the nest installation is compatible. So far it's a good purchase.

Sooooo easy to install. Has everything I wanted: blue tooth to my iPhone, long battery life, fire and gas detectors Worth the price!

First I have to say, I bought this because my Nest Protect was at end of life and this product was recommended. For all intents and purposes this seems like a good product with a decent app. The pro is that you can take your nest protect down and put this one up without having to change the mounting plate. Now the cons. Keep in mind these are not inherently the shortcomings of the device itself, but more of in comparison to the unit is replacing. First the app is not as nice ad the best app. It’s easy enough to use but not as elegant and cohesive as the Nest. The overall looks of the unit are not as sleek. The nest looked impressive and to the point you couldn’t tell it was simply a smoke detector. This by comparison is not ugly but plain. And the biggest issue personally, is that this device does not have the guide light that comes on when motion is detected. I would recommend this product as it looks to be the best unit currently available. Compared to the Nest, it falls a little short. The simple fact that you can use the same mounting plate is enough to sway me toward this product.

Unfortunately the AA Lithium batteries died, on my Nest Protect fire/CO detector as it was approaching its suggested replacement date. I decided to purchase the Google recommended First Alert SC5 because the Nest is no longer manufactured. The First Alerts SC5 appears to be a functional fire and carbon monoxide detector and does sync with Google's Home application well, however it seems of lower quality build and has fewer features than the original Nest Protect. I had grown quite fond of the night light especially when we had overnight guests, and the automated tests which reassured us the Protect (Nest) would always do its job. The First Alert SC5 recommends weekly testing, eschews the convenient lighting, requires more expensive CR123 lithium batteries and does not seem built as robust as the Protect. I suppose Time will tell if Google Home and First Alert have anywhere near the eloquence or reliability Nest had achieved before Google bought them out.

Needed replacement for Google nest. This one meshed easily with our existing Nest alarms. Missing some features that Nest had including night light feature.

Great replacement to the Nest Thermostat, long battery life and reliability from a trusted company. Don't love the setup since you have to install and login to a new app to get started, rather than direct integration from Google home. But it's still relatively easy and gives peace of mind.

These smoke detectors protect my house and go to my app incase there is a fire in my house and I’m not home the also have a night light on them

Easy to setup, and works as intended, but not as feature rich as the Nest Protect it is intended to replace. Google really dropped the ball by not coming out with a new version of the Nest Protect, especially since the protects are now reaching end of life and people will be looking for replacements. The First Alert app is not as pretty to look at, but at least the alarm shows up in Google Home app so you can check on things from there after initial setup. I will buy more of these as my protects reach end of life, but I will miss them and their nightly promise.

I am not too happy that Nest has decided to withdraw from the market, forcing us to switch to First Alert. After installing the new device, I like its minimalist design. Hope it is a stable one because my previous First Alert non-intelligent smoke detector has "false alarm" frequently.

Purchased to replace an expired Google Nest smoke/CO detector. Integrates well with the Google Home app, was able to use the same mounting bracket, so no new holes in the wall. Wish I could have activated using Google Home and not have to deal with another app/account.

I haven't had a fire or CO that I know of to know that it works for sure, but it was easy to set up! The only thing I wish it had was HomeKit integration.

Decent replacement for the late Nest Protect smoke/CO detector. Easy to set up. Helpful to be alerted when trouble brews.

So far so good. I bought this for a piece of mind, I leave a wood burning stove on over night and wanted to make sure it wasn’t producing carbon monoxide while I sleep. I did own a nest product but since it is no longer in production I settled for this. This is pretty basic compared to the features of the nest, including the look. Overall I am just happy that I have something that has my back when it comes to smoke and carbon monoxide.

Easy to install and very reliable. I like that it combines smoke and carbon monoxide detection in one unit, so I don’t need two separate alarms. The sound is loud enough to hear clearly, and it gives me peace of mind knowing my home is protected. Definitely recommend.

Works great and was a direct replacement to a non first alert detector

A fine smoke alarm but a mediocre replacement for the nest protect. It is slightly worse than the protect in every way. Worse speakers, no path light, worse app integration and honestly a little bit uglier. Again it works fine but is a bit if a letdown as far as a google sanctioned replacement for the nest protect.

Easy installation. Setting up the First Alert detectors is simple and the application walks you through it seamlessly Had the Ring detectors last time around which I found a little more stylish if you’re wanting something more sleek, but this new iteration is the next best thing..

I bought this to add to my Nest smoke detectors. Was easy to connect to the First Alert app and has no problems staying on my Wi-Fi. I am going to purchase another one for another rental.
