I’m casual gamer and I must say this game is so addictive. Just what I I envisioned a Fist of the North Star would be. I still remember watching the movie when I was a kid. I got hours of hours of fun game play. So far I’m enjoying my time playing the game.

This game is everything I ever wanted in a Fist of the North Star video game. The game captures every part of the anime-from the ridiculous enemies, the crazy finishers, and the gory violence. After 15 hours of this game, I can say that I enjoyed most of it. The substories are kind of depressing but it makes sense since we're living in a post apocalyptic world. The fighting is so ridiculously funny, it truly shows how powerful Kenshiro is. Although the finishers can get repetitive, it's still cool to see punks explode by the 100 hundred punch rush or the spine breaker. The voice acting is really good in both Japanese and English (surprisingly!). The only thing I do hate about the game is that it uses the old engine the older Yakuza games used. The free roam is just so clunky, that it feels like Yakuza from the PS3. The graphics aren't amazing but it stays true to the anime in which it makes sense that every guy in this game is a just a tower of muscles on top of muscles. Although it wouldn't hurt to make the game look prettier because sometimes it looks like something out of 2013. Overall, I would recommend this game for any Yakuza and FotNS fans. But if you're still finishing up Yakuza then finish that first before starting this because there is a lot to do. Also it comes with a cool reversible cover which I prefer to use.

I never really played the Yakuza games, so I didn't know what to hope for out of a Fist of the North Star game in that Play style. As it turns out, I probably need to play the Yakuza games now, as this game was a blast. The action was fun and gave off a feeling of power that few games can really pull off these days. Looks great, like I'm actually in the comic and the story is shockingly original. Wroth a purchase.

I'll say this right off top: In order to fully enjoy and be entertained by this game, you need to, foremost, be a fan of the Fist of the North Star franchise fan. Alternately, you could enjoy this game if you are a fan of the Yakuza games. And, lastly but most optimally, a fan of both franchises. If you only fall under one of the first 2, your feelings about this title may vary... FotNS fans will enjoy a new, semi-open world, mission influenced beat'em up featuring the post apocalyptic savior that they've known for the past 30+ years in an original story not used from the manga (but pays respects and includes homages to the various characters and their plotlines). On Kenshiro's journey to save his lost bae, the player will shred literally hundreds of thousands of lowlifes into a bloody pulp. And, in between it all, drive around the desert finding loot, helping old ladies across the street, cooking BBQ for the child culinary prodigy, and many more ludicrous, tongue in cheek missions that will have veteran fans of the series cracking up and shaking their heads. As for fans of Sega's Yakuza franchise: "It features similar gameplay mechanics and systems to Sega's Yakuza series." Needless to say, fans of BOTH franchises will be in heaven over this release, but the number of those individuals will be extremely limited in N.America. Being an avid fan of just FotNS should suffice.

if you were a fan of this anime back in the day, then you'll love what they did to this. They literally transformed the yakuza game universe and threw it into the world of North star. You can even play as the Dragon, Kiryu himself. The story of course is the same, but we all know what we're here to see. The fighting, and it doesn't disappoint at all. The game itself can be repetitive and while there are plenty of quests to do they can be fetchy at certain times. Just like the yakuza series it does have it's own mini games ranging from tending a bar, playing casino games, and fighting in arenas just to name a few. Overall, I had a great time playing. I never grew tired of watching punks heads explode. Omae wa mou shindeiru!

Whether a longtime fan of the Yakuza series or of The Fist of the North Star, this game is an excellent entry into either. The gameplay is initially frustrating but very rewarding as you learn the basics and improve your skillset, murdering hordes of villains using Hokuto Shinken is a true nostalgia trip for kids of the 80's. All of the drawbacks of the Yakuza series like a clunky manual save system, unskippable and banal dialogue-heavy cutscenes are still present, the new characters and remixed plot are pretty awful even by Fist of the North Star standards. But I still love it, and it's miles better than the last current-gen Hokuto no Ken game.

While I'm not a Fist of the North Star viewer, I grabbed this game because the developers of the Yakuza franchise & the underappreciated Binary Domain made it. While this game isn't quite as excellent as those, it's still well worth playing through if you're a fan of Fist of the North Star or a fan of the developer's other games. Dialogue is cheesy, combat is over-the-top, and there's enough here that'll keep you playing for 20-30 hours.

The original anime that this is based on is really old by now (though still entertaining to watch on the various streaming services), but even for people who don't remember it or have never seen it, this game captures the insanity perfectly. Made by the same folks who created the Yakuza series, it's a lower budget take on the concept in a post-apocalyptic future (think Mad Max). The main character, Kenshiro, is the master of Hokuto Shinken which allows him to hit pressure points on his enemies and cause them to explode. It's so ridiculous and over the top that you'll likely forget how repetitive the gameplay can be at times and how short the main campaign is. But it's worth picking up for the minigames alone, such as batting bikers with a giant steel girder or running a hostess club.

great game from the makers of Yakuza series. wish the launch edition came with a steelbook. but stickers are nice i guess. gameplay similar to yakuza games. i would love to see more spinoffs titles from them. Streets of Rage remake would be awesome.

It's not Yakuza, but it's fun and the combat is similar. I feel a bit lost since I haven't watched the anime, so I'm going to watch that next before playing any more. For the clearance price, it's worth it.

If you are a fan of the Yakuza series ( same developer) than you will enjoy this game. Although not as mechanically developed as Yakuza 6, Judgement or Kiwami 2, this game is still worth trying. It introduces you to driving long sections which are mostly empty with little to do with with some interesting mini games than aren't present in the rest of the games mentioned. Besides that the combat isn't as diverse compared to the other games but the art style and story are engaging in a silly way. Think of this as a Yakuza "Lite", as the story mode and the # of side quests is also smaller/shorter

Probably one of the most enjoyable game renditions of the Hokuto No Ken series in the west. Which isn't saying much when the others were Musou (Dynasty Warrios-like games). Not knowledgeable or fan of the series, but the game did get me interested in wanting to try the show out. For the game alone I would recommend it for the gameplay. It's a instant buy if you're a fan of the Yakuza Team. Just make sure to not play it after finishing a Yakuza game or action game or you may feel worn out. (That was my experience at least. Hopefully it doesn't happen to you.)

A great "side story" to the Fist Of The North Star

As a huge fan of the Fist Of The North Star series in general, I have to say that Sega did a superb job in making a 'side story' that takes place between the key events of the main storyline. Without going into spoilers, our favorite hero, Kenshiro, happens upon a "Lost Paradise" of sorts while on his way to finding the love of his life, Yuria. If you know the main storyline of The Fist Of The North Star, Kenshiro (referred to hereafter as "Ken", travels the wasteland, searching for his true love, Yuria, while meeting new and interesting heroes and villains alike. In "Lost Paradise", scenarios from the main storyline are mentioned, but only during playable 'flashbacks', which are usually used to remind the audience of what previously occurred during Ken's travels, but also to give players a chance to learn a set of moves or something to that effect, similar to what would be found in a tutorial. A good majority of the characters and storyline are new and fit right into the main storyline of Fist Of The North Star. If you've played the Koei/Tecmo games "Fist Of The North Star: Ken's Rage" (1 0r 2), you'll feel right at home playing "Lost Paradise". There are so many things stuffed into this game, that it's literally games within a game. For example, when you get into a certain area of the game, there's a casino. Now, there are only 2 casino games to play; Blackjack (aka "21) and Roulette. You can easily spend hours staying at the casino, playing the previously mentioned games, all because winning at the casino translates into in-game currency, which can then be used to buy exclusive items for Ken. Things such as new moves, powers, equipment, etc., are quite useful, although not necessary to beat the game. Add to that, lots of "easter eggs", on top of the already excellent game and you've got a title that will take some enjoyably fun days to play.
