Surprised for the cost at the inaccuracy with Alta

I have been a fitbit user for over 10 years but have always used the Fitbit Zip Tracker until my last one stopped working and I couldn't find it available in the stores. So I upgraded to the Alta HR and am disappointed in its accuracy. With the Zip, I wore it hooked to my pants and loved that convenience. With the Alta I have worn it on my inactive wrist as well as around my ankle with a special ankle bracelet I ordered from Amazon and find that while on my wrist, it tracts movement such as hair drying, make up application and dinner prep and cleanup as steps (that were not taken!) On my ankle it performs better but some leg movement while sitting records as steps as well as it doesn't record HR while sleeping. Speaking of the sleep tracking - while I love the feature - if I sit still to read or watch TV and know I didn't nap - it often records me as sleeping - my bp must fall into the sleeping range is all I can figure. For the price and the popularity of this device, I am really surprised at how compromised the accuracy is. I have removed the straps and placed it in my bra - but that doesn't always feel secure to me - I much prefer the zip and wish there was an alternative way to clip the ALTA on at the waistline.

I have had my fitbit for a month now and there are things I love and don't love about it. The main reason why I bought this fitbit was to track my sleep quality. So far, it has only failed once to provide me insight into how much REM, Light, and Deep sleep I am getting each night. Even when it failed to provide the highly detailed info, it still provided basic info such as awake, asleep, and restless. I am fairly pleased with the sleep tracking function. The band is sleek and doesn't irritate my skin, which is a plus. The battery life leaves something to be desired; I expected it to last a week, defined as 7 days, but it lasts around 4-5 days. Charging is quick though, 1-2 hours. The step tracker often records false steps, so I ignore the step alerts. The thing that annoys me the most though is not being able to get the display to appear. A flip of the wrist doesn't work most of the time and I have to double slap the screen because a firm double tap doesn't work. The device is not very responsive in this respect. Since I stopped wearing my watch with the fitbit, it is the only way for me to tell time and it's not very good at providing a quick read. Overall I give it three stars because it does well what I bought it for, but I had to deduct stars for the short battery life and inability to show the display quickly.

I purchased the Fitbit Alta HR after being interested in getting one for a few months. I liked the idea of a heart rate monitor and sleep tracker in addition to the basic fitness tracker features. The devise is generally comfortable to wear. I've had slight stinging sensations when I think the charging area came in contact with my skin. I've even accidentally put it through a gentle wash cycle (and after a dessicant treatment came out fine). Unfortunately I know for a fact the pedometer is innacurate enough I wouldn't use it for serious measurements. I've gone on short and long walks and jogs which I've tested and counted my steps, the fracker being 10%+ off on most occasions. The heart rate is interesting but that is more than likely inaccurate as well. The light sensors it uses to measure the rate have identified a pulse while the tracker was in a bag I was carrying on more than one occasion (need to give your wrist a break sometimes). Other than that the screen is a little funny to work with but the app makes up for it without question. The information is displayed in very easy to understand graphs and displays (don't expect fine detailed specs, however). As a casual fitness tracker this does very well for me, but I would not recommend to someone who takes the numbers seriously.

I use this primarily as a watch and a sleep tracker, although I will say the heart rate monitoring seems quite accurate. Nicely configurable. Silent alarms are handy, lots of different styles and options for the watch face (I will admit I chose this over other brands due to the customizability here). I've gone through six bands in less than a year of ownership - the latching mechanism that attaches the band to the device is made of brittle plastic and snaps in half anytime the wind shifts. Thus far I've had the best luck with cheap Chinese knockoff bands; the genuine Fitbit ones last me <2 weeks, whereas the knockoffs last a couple months. The device occasionally likes to get stuck with the vibration on, and won't stop until it runs out of battery or I do a hard reset. Otherwise I've had no issues, although given the price point I would expect better.

I bought the Alta after my previous Charge HR broke. I have had it for about 3 weeks. I do not need a GPS tracker on my exercise tracker. Which is why I went with the Alta. It doesn't have a button on the side, so I have to smack it to read the time and other stats. The directions say to just raise your arm or flick your wrist for it to turn on. I have yet to get that to work. I also don't like the fact that it doesn't track walking unless you have been doing it for 10+ minutes. At least my old one tracked walking of five minutes. I have had to walk around my neighborhood and stop off at more than one store. None of that walking time gets tracked because the distance between each stop was around 5 minutes. I took it when I went to Disneyland, and my time walking varied greatly than when I used my CHR.

I liked my old fitbit one better, just put it in a pocket and it was very accurate, only needed recharging every 2-3 weeks. The alta hr is not especially comfortable on my wrist and while it does tell time, it’s not as user friendly as my wristwatch. Tapping the alta hr doesn’t always work and I find I have to keep tapping before I can finaly see the time. The step counter may be accurate but not as precise. It doesn’t give a count of stairs which my old fitbit did. And it requires recharging every week. The reminders to move are subtle so not annoying. It’s okay looking but difficult to put on and off.

at first I thought this would be a nice upgrade from my withings watch but after purchasing it I am really dissatisfied with how easily the band comes undone and I've actually almost lost the first one four times now the second one is doing the same thing after exchanging it for a new one there's clearly a design flaw that will have you wasting your money because if you lose it you can exchange it.so don't necessarily buy this if you have kids or anything for where people might bump your wrists are you might over use your arm or anything else.

I returned it because it did not pick up all the steps I was doing on my Nordic Trac everyday, I had to go in and manually enter my exercise. The steps recorded were not accurate. When it said I was 182 steps from meeting my goal for the day I started counting and I went over 182 but it never reached it. I also sat on the sofa the first day I got it and swung my arms back and forth in the arm 30 times (never took a step) and it said I had taken 44 steps. Not very accurate. It also made my wrist itch, probably something to do with the nickel in it.

I liked the slim style of this item as it did not look too big on my small wrist. The features were great and helped keep me motivated. I also liked that, even while busy at work, I could glance and see if there was an important call or message without having to grab my phone. Unfortunately after a few days of wearing the device, my arm began to feel numb and extremely uncomfortable, a side effect that some experience with this device. I really wanted to try and get use to the device but the discomfort became too much and the website stated it was necessary to discontinue.

This Fitbit has a slimmer look than my old Fitbit. The three things that I don't like about it is: 1) It doesn't track stairs. I wear my Fitbit One also so that I can track stairs. 2) It resets my steps. For example, I reached my 10,000 steps and then it reset back to 8,000. It's done this three times. 3) The face scratched within a couple of days of getting it. It should come with a screen protector. I would recommend it to a friend but would tell them the downside. Not everyone cares if their stairs are tracked.

I bought this for my girlfriend as a gift. I figured it would be more versital than it was. In the end, I ended up returning this product and purchasing an Apple watch instead. On the fitbit alta hr, the phone notifications work fine but scroll slowly and you cannot respond to txts. The only thing the Apple Watch (series 2) didn't do thay the fitbit could was track your sleep patterns. Otherwise, for the extra $150 the Apple Watch was a much better option

It does what it's supposed to. I like that it tracks my sleep & it gives me reminders to get moving throughout the day. I love how stylish it looks and i love the color. But that pretty light pink color will only last for about a day or 2. It's so easly stained. Dye from jeans or pretty much any dark fabric you wear will rub off on it and won't come off. Only had it for a week and it just looks so dirty! I'd recommend this product. Just not the blush pink.

I wanted to keep track of heart rate for outdoor activities but the screen can't be read in the direct sunlight. After 10 hrs. in an amusement park, I had to rely on the kids' devices for steps because we couldn't read it.(22,000 BTW) The device says that it will automatically switch between activities like walking and biking but my bike rides are not recorded. So, it's OK, but I wish I hadn't spent the money.

This was purchased for my wife. At first she hated it because it didn't respond when touched like the instructions said. A quick internet search showed that if you tap it above the screen or on the sides, it would respond. Then she loved it. Shortly after that she got a very nasty rash where she was wearing it. Cleaning it didn't help so we took it back for a refund. If you don't get a rash (some people don't) it's a great little fitness tracker.

I got this to monitor my heart rate and track my sleep. I have trouble with insomnia. The heart rate features were fine, but it doesn't track sleep well if you have problems sleeping. You have to sleep for more than 3 hours, which I am unable to do at times. App was good, but I did find it hard to find the information I wanted at times. Some features are only available on mobile app, but not website. And vice versa.

I am currently enjoying my new fit bit Alta HR I like some of the upgrades from the Charge HR. It definitely takes some getting used to with the phone calls and the text messaging showing up but it’s a quick learn if I had to pick a downfall I’m not sure how to track my exercise yet in the past I was able to hold the button and start exercise now I have to just go in and log it after it’s done

I been a consumer of fitbit products for a few years. I love the updates on the app but one thing that needs improvement is the band. The band rips after 6 months of constant use. I'm saddened that Best Buy discontinued their insurance program with Fitbit Product. Now I'm not sure to continue buying Fitbit product in the future or invest in another brand.

The Fitbit itself is a great product. Works as designed great. The one problem is charging the device. Doesn’t come with a power brick. Instructions say charge device using a computer. My phone call with tech support came to the conclusion with them telling me that if I use a cell phone power brick it could cause the battery to over charge and overheat. Charging this with a computer is a pain.

The device is great for me, because it helps keep me aware of my daily activity. I only use it for fitness related notifications. I actually bought this one for my sister and she said it was too bulky to sleep with. I agree it’s large, and they also do not come nice enough to fully eliminate a nice watch. The battery also dies randomly without any indication from the device or app.

I was pleasantly surprised by the ease of setting up the Fitbit tracker, including downloading the app on the phone. However, the quality of the tracker body itself was very poor. The tracker would fall off easily, and the would detach from the band while walking, so I'm sure it would have fallen off during exercise too. I will return this and buy an Apple watch instead.
