    Great Fitness Smartwatch

    |
    Posted .

I’ve been a Fitbit user for years, and this is by far their best product yet. If you’re looking for a fitness oriented smartwatch but don’t want/need the bells and whistles and low battery life of the Apple Watch, this is a great choice. The Ionic has a large square screen and a very sleek look. It has a great heart rate monitor, sleep tracking function (which calculates REM, deep, and light sleep), GPS, text and phone call vibrating alerts, silent alarms, music upload app, and everything from previous Fitbits (such as steps, calories, stairs, and active minutes counters). The watch’s battery is one of its best features (about 3-4 days between charges). Since it’s waterproof, you’ll rarely need to take the watch off. I bought a third party Milanese loop band, and the watch looks great with suits and formal wear. The music upload feature also works great. With Bluetooth headphones, the watch will play your favorite fitness music without having to bring along your phone or iPod. The Bluetooth connectivity works really well. There are a few other good fitness apps that come with the watch, such as fitness coach, weather, and relax, and more are on the way. This watch is simple, intuitive, and great for helping you meet and exceed your fitness goals. Well done, Fitbit!

Excellent fitness smart watch and tracker!

After having my Ionic for nearly a week and putting it through its paces, I can say it's helped me retire my Apple Watch Series 3 on certain features that I look for in something that I want to wear every day to work, to the gym, and everywhere in between. Starting with the things I like about this watch: (1) it's stylish to a fault, looking nice while also not as eye catching as other brands of smart watches; (2) it's very comfortable and not intrusive when you want to wear it to bed and track your sleep cycle like my previous Alta HR was; (3) it's battery life last beyond five days or more, depending on how often you work out; and (4) it does just about everything you want in a fitness tracker, and coupled with the Fitbit app, it's the best kind of fitness tracker there is. For the things I don't like about this watch are: (1) it's OS is a little slow and not intuitive as the competition (a lot of button presses or swipes to get to certain features; (2) wish there was some voice command similar to Siri; (3) would benefit from a touch-to-wake feature instead of having to press a button or raise your wrist to your face to activate the screen; and (4) not using a universally acceptable charger such as USB-C, micro, and etc. These are all minor gripes about the design choices Fitbit has made and I believe they are only going to get better over time with each iteration of their Versa and Iconic line. Despite these small shortcomings, everything else Fitbit does, they do it very well in tracking sleep, nutrition, water, heart rate, weight, and so much more. It's almost the perfect smart watch, but without some other features that are usually found on either Android or iOS, it's definitely the best fitness tracker you can buy foremost, but comes in second place when it comes to actual smart watch functions such as having a digital assistant, voice command, and the like. You have to do everything manually to access common features. Things will only get better every year. Fitbit has a winner here. They just have to keep innovating and implementing what is already on the market, and then take it a step further. If you're on the fence about purchasing an Ionic, don't be. It's befitting on the wrist more than all the other Fitbit bands or watches out there. Totally worth the upgrade for built-in GPS, water-proofing, and more. Upgrade today while it's still on sale!

Will Withstand the Test of Time with Best Basics

    Posted .

Ok, so after a week, here is what I love/am concerned about with the Fitbit Iconic Pros Battery life - it lasts me almost an entire week without charging. Keep in mind this did not include me playing music and running GPS - just a regular high step week + a few Relax moments. Look/Feel - It stands out in a crowd (the burnt orange is really cool - great choice Fitbit) - and I barely know its on my wrist because it is so light weight. My partner asked me how I slept in it, and I told him about the awesome sleep functions, of course, but that I barely knew I was wearing it. Silent Alarms/Snooze - Ok, so this is funny because most health professionals will tell you to avoid hitting snooze, but we all do it. Now, on the Fitbit Iconic, you can actually click the little icon at the top left corner when your alarm goes off for a mini snooze (about 8 minutes). This can also be great for tasks, cooking, laundry, etc. Ease of use/function - This device doesn't do all that other smart watches do, but thats because, it's built to be a powerhouse with fitness and maintaining stability for your life. Image not having to remember to charge daily, knowing it's water proof and not worrying about your activities, and knowing your app isn't going to crash for weather. Fitness app + Visuals on your watch - This is something that Fitbit has always had that has helped them stand out. But now you can pull up beautiful workouts straight from the watch! Cons Lack of Apps - We know that there is potential for more apps to come, but as of now, the wallet function hasn't worked for me, I finally used Starbucks the other day and it was super easy to use, because it's a barcode essentially, but other than notifications, Starbucks and the weather, I haven't found the other apps to be that impressive. I can't wait to see what they come out with. Limited color choices - I know this sounds silly for some, but being able to change up my watch is important to me. I received the burnt orange and teal (darkish blue) and I love it, but I really do wish I didn't have to spend $60 on a new band to change it up. And also, There are only 3 options and they aren't really the most impressive for out of the box appeal. You'll definitely want the leather band. It doesn't look cheap by any means, but still, a little more variety/customization with band and watch would be great. Price - As of now, I do think it is worth every penny I paid for it. (Yes, I am not cool enough to be one of those people who tested it out for free, I'm a paying member). I do think the price is high to compete with other watches on the market. Notifications lack response - We knew this would stay this way, but it is a little sad I can't just send a quick reply saying "In a meeting" or "I'll call you in 5" from a click. If I can click snooze, can't I enable an auto response? Maybe it will come later.

Wow! Never thought I'd love a Fitbit!

I've always loved Apple products, but recently switched to Android. I did a lot of research and came to the conclusion that Fitbit is the best match for my needs, as I mostly use my smartwatch for health/exercise/fitness stuff. I love that it tracks my sleep and sleep cycles, exercise programs, and loads my music so I can leave my phone somewhere safe, like in my car, while I work out. It pairs with my wireless Aftershokz headphones with no problems. The only thing this watch doesn't do yet, but hopefully will someday is sync with my Samsung Galaxy 9+ phone text messages and phone calls. Fitbit says it's working on it, but not there yet. That's not a deal breaker for me, but I'm sure it is for some people. I think it's definitely one of the best options out there. Also, lots of inexpensive and colorful bands available on Amazon, and the bands are super easy to change out--like, click, click, done.

The Ionic is an awesome upgrade to the Blaze!

After using the Blaze for several years I upgraded to the Ionic - I am very happy with my new purchase - it does everything the Blaze did plus more - my usual use for the watch is to help me keep track of my fitness - I also enjoy the feature that allows me to view my text messages and actually see who is calling me before I have to reach for my phone - all in all I’m very satisfied -

    Junk

Buy a different brand smartwatch or tracker. Stay away from Fitbit! The Ionic lasted about three months before I started having trouble with it. It would have issues synching, random power offs, and the original band lasted about eight months. It was my mistake for thinking it woukd be fixed with updates. The Ionic completely quit today and will not power back on. My app shows it synced this morning at 1:54am and when I woke up at 5am it was a black screen that will not power on even with the forced reset procedure. I purchased the Ionic on 10/20/17 at Best Buy. I contacted Fitbit customer service today and was told too bad, it's out of warranty by about three months. But they'd give me 20% off a future purchase. That's the last $230 Fitbit will ever get from me. There's too many other options out there to treat customers like this when this is supposed to be the best product a company offers.

Great functionality; Poor quality and service

    Posted .

I'm disappointed that I have to write a poor review for the Fitbit Ionic. I love how smooth the watch runs. I think it looks very stylish and looks great on my wrist. Basically, it has everything I am looking for in a superior fitness/smart watch. But my disappoint derives from the display screen. After a week of normal wear, I acquired a scratch on the "Scratch Proof Gorilla" screen (As shown in the picture). I was upset and down about it but I figured I bought it from one of Fitbit's approved vendors and it had obviously been within the 45 day money back guarantee, so I should be good, right? Wrong. After contacting Fitbit through Twitter, they informed me that their "SCRATCHPROOF" screen was not covered by their limited warranty and that they would not replace or fix the watch. It irritates me when a company does not stand by their product and does not go above and beyond for their customers. Especially if they are shelling out top dollar for their product. I guess take it from me and invest in a screen protector (If you plan on buying the Ionic). I thought I wouldn't need it because it is suppose to be a quality product but I was wrong.

I compared so many smart watches and fitness trackers. My main 2 things I wanted were a gps and music, so I could leave my phone at home when going for a run. This fits the bill. With the gps I get a map of my run. I had to sign up for a music service. I went with Deezer vs Pandora so I could make my own playlists. My Bluetooth headphones sync up perfectly. I do wish there were more apps available. But I'm sure what will come with time. I have tiny wrists. Child size. I was worried it would be too bulky but it's very low profile and very comfortable. This watch is simple and easy to use. I'm sure I dont use half of the features, but I'm very very happy with my purchase.

    Made to Break!

    |
    Posted .

Just got off chat with Fitbit support after my watch bricked itself for no reason while sitting on the nightstand. They informed me that "this is unexpected behavior for our products" but there is nothing they can do except for offer me a discount on my next product. This is the second watch from Fitbit that has broken just past the 1 year warranty date. "Fitbit is still improving their products," support says. So, if you want to fund Fitbit's beta testing on 300 dollar smartwatches, this is a great purchase. Just don't expect it to last more than one year! Fitbit offers no repair or technical support other than pressing buttons to reset, either. So, whatever is wrong with my watch, there is nothing that can be done other than send Fitbit more money to improve their products.

    Fine As A Basic Watch

I love this new Fitbit except a few things. Like, you can't change the music at all once you've started a workout. But I love that you can play music without the phone. Although it seems a wee glitchy. Maybe my headphones? Love the swim tracking, seems pretty accurate. I wish they'd add swim challenges or something. It's super light, and not too big on my tiny wrist. The coach is cool, hoping they add more workouts.

    Best watch

This is best smartwatch with more than 4 days of battery life. What else you want from a smartwatch. This also is from Fitbit which is best app in health and fitness category in the app store. The watch is best fitness with needed smartwatch features. A plus is lot of third party watch bands and cases, screen protectors are available. Only concern is the software bugs needs to be ironed out which may take sometime but in no way if ruins the user experience right now

    A Must Have

    |

The watch is incredibly awesome. Is way better than the previous Fitbit smart watch line and the best thing for this watch is the battery. I charged the Ionic this past Sunday October 1, 2017 and today at this time the battery still at 51% without the need of charging it again. And works smoothly and without problems. I bought it on the release date on best buy. If you are looking for a great fitness smart watch give this one a shot. Is the best fitness smart watch out there right now. And the best battery too. And all the features works as the company told you in the product description. Way better than my expectations. And if you have problems with it the first days just change it. And purchase an extended warranty for unexpected problems or accidents.

I think this is a pretty great activity tracker. Now, if you have NEVER owned a smart watch, you will love this Fitbit. It is great at HR tracking for all types of activity, it tracks sleep great too. It is so light, but it is sort of big. Now, if you are wanting a true smart watch this is not it. Look else where.

It's worth the extra money for the upgrade. The software seems to work like it should and the larger screen is much easier to see and navigate through. I have had it about a month and haven't had any issues with it so far. That is a relief after going through 2 other Fitbit models that stopped working correctly within a few days of purchase. I use this device to track sleep, treadmill exercise, and daily steps. I use and absolutely LOVE the Fitbit app for counting calories and the macro overview.

I upgraded from a charge 2 and it is great. The screen is a nice size and the additional apps are very convenient. The only negative o have is that you must have a subscription to use Pandora to stream music from the tracker. Otherwise it was soooo worth the wait and the price.
