Great old school film with great music by Queen!!!

First off, everyone should know this is a 1 disc 4k version. There is no additional bluray bonus disc, just 1 4k disc with some bonus features on the disc. Arrow has released this 3 (technically 4 if we count 1080p bluray release) ways. 1st as limited collectors set with 2 with added goodies. 2nd as a 2 disc 4k and Life After Flash 1080p bluray with additional bonus features and no added swag. 3rd just 1 4k disc. Now the picture quality is stunning, the colors pop and the fine detail is there. Studio Canal did a great job with the restoration. My only complaint is the 5.1 mix. It is muddy and low. The movie sounds better with the original 2.0 mix. I highly recommend this disc. I remember seeing this movie in theaters and back in 1980 the film on the big screen didn't look as good as this disc.

I remember watching this movie on cable as a teen. I was a bit nervous about this purchase as I have bought other movies I liked as a kid that have not held up. I was happy to see that I still enjoyed Flash Gordon. Where the movie could still be called silly, the performances are still pretty solid. I love Max von Sydow as Ming, and there is something special about any movie with Brian Blessed, here playing the winged Prince Vultan. His laugh makes any day seem brighter. I would recommend this film to anyone with the understanding that its a 1980 movie that is fun and funny. It is a cult classic for a reason.

Looks and sounds amazing. The menu is silent so adjust your volume beforehand although I recommend playing this movie LOUD. On the disc fan Alex Ross describes it as a rock opera which is dead-on. I almost feel it would work better as a silent movie with just the music and no dialogue. A real meal which I think struggles to maintain its tone. If you love this movie though, THIS IS THE WAY TO SEE IT. Only UHD disc, no blu-ray copy of movie.

the movie does look and sound great. I have the uk steel book edtion and the univerrsal region 1 bluray and there is a big improvement. I ‘d say the only thing or beef I have with this is the many versions that keeps going and going until every drop of dollar is taken. Cant we just have 2 versions of the 4k verson, 4k with bluray, and digital only, 4k bluray, digital box edtion. Does it cost a leg to just put the bluray disc with the movie only alot of money? rather then spending another 20$ or so to get the bluray version we could just put it with the 4k disc and charge a extra 5 or so that everyone else is doing? Other than that I do love how we get alot of extras and of course the movie looks and sounds amazing for a 1980’s flick. I just wished they stopped this seperate disc option trene. DIdnt guys learn from teh DVD era that seperate options is not a wise choice.

Campy but fun movie. Glad I bought it. So glad this Best Buy store carries a collection of movies. Not as big as they used to, but still nice to have some to look through. Not all of us want to just stream a lot of us like to still own copies of movies plus the 4K just looks a lot better on disk than it does on streaming TV.

As cheesy as the script can get at times, and with special effects being all over the place in terms of quality, this film has a unique charm because of the dedication of the cast and the phenomenal production and costume designs which really do bring the classic comic strips aesthetics to the screen. The Dolby Vision HDR really brings a beauty to the proceedings, bringing out details and vivid color like never before. And remember: "Gordon's ALIVE"

While I am exceedingly happy with the 4k picture this purchase is not without its faults. First of all the basic 4k single disc is just that...only a UHD disc. There is no bluray or digital code. Secondly while you are getting Flash Gordon at its best when it comes to picture and sound quality there wasn't anything done to clean up practical effects. Without shelling out more money you aren't getting much for the premium price outside of the 4k picture bump. There isn't much if anything really new to experience.

4k transfer is ok there are spots where the picture is grainy. Sound is excellent.

A cheesy classic from the 80's, so bad it's good! looks great on Blu-ray!

Absolutely 1980s cinematic gold. The cheesiness just adds to how awesome it is. I saw this as an 8 year old at the drive in, with Empire Strikes Back...and my mom bought the soundtrack the next day. My brother and I would play the record constantly and act out the movie in the living room. The movie STILL holds up all these years later. My own kids love it as much as I do. Nice looking Steelbook as well.

The best decade ever (the 80s, no argument is possible) started when this movie came out. It is a Glorious space opera in the grandest sense. Stunning visuals and great characters. The soundtrack by legendary rock band Queen is worth the price of admission alone. If you haven’t seen this movie, see it! If they make a remake, still just see this one! I’m so glad that I have this movie in my collection.

I love this movie. I've owned just about every version and format of it. This one is the ultimate. The picture is just perfect. Eye-popping gorgeous transfer, I think my mind was truly blown when the space ship went into the cloud and they started electrifying it. My Sony A8 OLED adores presenting this movie. If you're even looking at this review, stop, and just click buy now. You will not be disappointed.

Flash Gordon has always been a fun watch, but it has never been as visually exciting as it is on this 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray presentation. The sharp details and popping colors of this film add so much to this comic book adventure come to life. The sound quality immerses you in not only all the action, but Queens' unique and iconic soundtrack music. I highly recommend this 4K Blu-ray to all looking for a superior visual & sonic adventure.

Seen this movie numerous times as a kid when it came out and I remember all the colors in this movie were so bold and loud which meshed with the soundtrack of this movie. Now it's in 4k HDR this movie no kicks and slaps you in the face with the vibrance of these colors and the soundtrack in DTS its like seeing it for the 1st time again but turned up to 100!! Next time you're in Best Buy pick this movie up to add to your collection you won't be sorry.
