Works well...design is a little flawed.

It mostly works pretty well. The bag maker and sealer on the bottom works great and I love that part of it. the vacuum/sealing portion on the top isn't the greatest design...you have to make your bags long enough in order to be able to easily use the top part. however I just pull out a wire rack and place it in front of the unit to make it so I have a platform to put my bag on right in front of the vacuum port. This way I can make the bags as small as they need to be and still be able to properly use the vacuum sealer. not sure if I explained that right but whatevs... I mean it works fine if you're able to figure out what's wrong when it's bring problematic and make the necessary adjustments to account. Oh, also the accessory unit doesn't work great. It's quite finicky. Sometimes it just refuses to vacuum the air out of the containers. when you can get it to work it works great, but it either sometime doesn't seal properly to create a solid vacuum, or it won't engage the rubber one-way valve on the container lid and thus it runs forever and does not vacuum the air from the container. you just have to re-adjust the positioning of the attachment on the lid and eventually it'll go. or just press harder.

Been using foodsavers for decades. I enjoy the sealer being raised but miss the reason why... the pulsevac! Bring it back! Like the seal the next bag feature and the less bag waste even in the actual sealing. Awkward to place the bag in the seal with the "pac-man" mouth that holds the roll. The end keeps retracting making it a hit or miss since you cannot hold it there because you can't fit your hand to hold it in place.

This vacuum sealer, seals fairly well but don’t count on a perfect fit every time although more testing is needed to see if it’s the bags or the vacuum sealer.

Are you trying to seal moist items, such as unfrozen meats or fish? If so, try placing the meat or fish in a bag. Then, taking a paper towel and folding it in half twice, place it into the bag so it is between the item and where the bag is to be sealed. Place the open end of the bag into the vacuum channel, close the lid and start the vacuum / sealing process. The paper towel traps the excess liquids and won't affect the flavor of the food item. If the unit seals properly, then you should be able to vacuum / seal bags. You can also slightly pre-freeze meat or fish for 15-30 minutes in order to eliminate some of the juices.

Are you trying to vacuum package items that are NOT moist? If so, test the bag by placing a spoon in it and place the end of the bag into the vacuum channel, close the lid of the unit and press the 'on' button. Lock the side clips or press down on the lid and allow the unit to go through the entire cycle. If the bag seals, then you are now able to vacuum / seal bags.

If you are still needing assistance to get your FoodSaver to properly vacuum and seal, please call us at (877) 777-8042. You can reach us between the hours of 8AM-8PM EST Monday-Saturday. Foodsaver
