    Amazing Smartwatch

This is a great smartwatch. One of the first things I noticed was that because it uses wear os from google, it just seems to connect to all the other apps really well. Out of the box it did need a few updates so while setup was really easy, it took a while to really get it up and running since it took a while to download and install everything I wanted it to. This is the Bluetooth and wifi version and not the lte, so I can’t take it out and receive calls without my phone on me, but the wifi means that if my phone is connected to wifi, I can leave it at one side of the house and still use the watch well outside the normally Bluetooth range, which is convenient. I don’t really like the watch band. It think it’s a bit uncomfortable and the silicone seems to pick up every piece of lint in the room and looks dirty pretty fast. However, watch bands are about as personal a preference as you can get on a smartwatch and it works well enough until I can get a replacement that I really like. They really aren’t that expensive. The look of the watch is sleek and stylish and my wife even thinks it looks a bit too stylish for me. Another irritation I have is the way so many of your quick selection options are limited. Especially how many are taken up by google assistant. You can swipe all 4 directions, but what you can get to by swiping is locked. You can set up a few tiles that you can get to quickly by swiping one direction, but your options of what has a tile are limited. You can customize 2 of the buttons, but even then they are really only shortcuts to apps. If you set up a tile for the assistant you can get the assistant by swiping left, right or holding down the power key. With how limited you are on the ways to quickly get to your most used apps and functions, it just feels wasteful to be able to quickly get to google assistant in 3 different ways and have two of them locked so you can’t customize it to something else. I really hate that, but I’m guessing its wear OS doing it and not fossil so I’m not taking off any stars for that. One other thing I wish they had was a quicker and easier way to lock the watch when wearing it. When you take it off it locks and you need to unlock it to use it. But once it’s on your wrist it stays unlocked until you relock it or take it off. For a lot of people that may be fine, but I have little kids that love to touch buttons and try to play with my watch while they are sitting next to me. It would be nice to have a quicker and easier way to lock the watch if I wanted to. I mean, how often does a person really put the watch in airplane mode? You could make that button a lock button and make airplane mode the one buried in the menu a few more steps. I’ve just been loosening the watch band so it thinks the watch has been taken off and locks, then tighten the watch again. Those small UX complaints aside, the functionality is great. The watch works quickly and smoothly for the most part (although there is a slight delay after unlocking where you think it should be working but it actually takes another 3-5 sec to fully unlock). Apps made for wear OS all seem to work fine without any bugs. There aren’t a lot of faces that come with the watch, but they give you an app where you can select a few different options and even buy more if you wanted to. The watch syncs up seamlessly with google fit so I can track any of those stats and has been great for my health insurances rewards app that gives you perks for being active since like most similar apps that all is based on google fit. I haven’t used the sleep tracker since I think its way too uncomfortable to wear to sleep. Does anyone actually do that? The flashlight function is a good idea to have as a backup in case you need it, but the angle on your wrist makes it awkward enough that its not my go to flashlight option. Notifications come through great and it has a really pretty robust system for limiting unwanted notifications so you don’t get overwhelmed. I had a really low end watch previously that would for some reason flood the notification panel letting me know it updated my location in google maps and made it almost unusable for notifications. This watch can be customized so that you only get notifications you want on your watch, but let everything go to your phone so you can easily prioritize your messages. Calls come through clear, albeit a bit quite. That’s not a real problem since I don’t really expect the best speaker from a watch. The mic works well and others say they can hear me just fine. Typing and texting is tedious on the watch, but the speech to text works pretty well to dictate your messages instead. Google pay has always worked fine and never had a problem making payment with it. Overall a fantastic watch and a great alternative to the watches that are put out by cell phone makers.

This is a great watch if you are looking for an alternative to the major players. However, there are some areas that could use improvement. Setup: Setup was quick with Google Wear OS. I have an iPhone so I had to download the app to my phone first. Screen: The screen is very crisp and bright with a 32.5MM AMOLED screen. I noticed though the screen changes brightness depending on the light level in your surroundings. How the screen dims though could be smoother. Its very noticeable when the screen is flicking back to being brighter or dimmer. The screen is constantly on but I noticed that it show less on the screen while its not being looked at to save battery life. unlike the competition which shows everything all the time. Maybe I just need to change the settings? Watch faces: The watch comes with a few watch faces preinstalled. A few look great and tell you tons of info and some watch faces look like they are pixelated (not because of the screen but because of like the watch picture? I'm not sure but I wasn't thrilled. I found that you can download the FACER app which boasts a large selection of watch faces however all the one I picked (which were the apps recommend faces) didn't look right to me. Either they were pixelated, looked weird or just didn't seem like they OEM to me. To me Fossil should be providing more watch faces that are tailored to different categories or appeal to more people and not relying on a 3rd party app.. After all this is Fossil's watch and not Facers. Features/Sensors: The watch is packed with different sensors like ambient lighting (as mention for the screen) accelerometer, altimeter, compass, gyroscope, heart rate, pulse oximeter, GPS, hours slept, step counter, and the list goes on. While all of these functions work I seem to find flaws or delays. For example, some reason I activate the step counter and some reason it wont activate? I even have the step counter activated on my watch face (home screen) and the watch isn't counting. It should not be hard to activate these features. I also noticed that the blood oxygen level is very sensitive while you are taking a reading and takes some time to complete. The watch is water resistant to 98 feet which I though is outstanding. The watch is also equipped with a microphone, speaker, google pay, and vibration alerts. Everything works well and as expected. I particularly like the vibration alerts because the vibration is strong and actually alerts me unlike other brands. Speed: The watch is well equipped with 8gb of internal memory, 0.512gb of ram, and a Qualcomm 4100+ chip. Battery life/charging/charger: The battery will last an entire day and then some. After a full day of use the watch had a 60% battery life at the end of the day after normal use and a day full of notifications. The watch also has a 24 hour+ multi day extended mode which is easy to activate in the settings. The charging works great and I noticed that it fully charged the watch in very little time. According to Fossil the watch will charge to 80% in about 30 minutes. The wireless charger is where I am disappointed. Its not your typical wireless charger and has two metal prongs that touch the back of your watch when it magnetically attaches. I just feel like these metal prongs are subpar and if you loose or break this charger your going to have to go right to Fossil to order a new one. At this level there should not be metal prongs were above that in our digital age society. Other Flaws: I keep being notified that I lost connection with my phone although when I go to the settings in my watch and iPhone they both say connected?

The Fossil Gen 6 Smartwatch (44mm) is a solid WearOS device with a stylish design, excellent display, and performance befitting a wearable device (finally!). This is my third smartwatch, the first was a cheap fitness watch and the second was a Fossil Gen 4, which both had flawed performance. The Fossil Gen 6 really seems to have gotten it right. Performances is smooth and speedy, with none of the lags between screens and the battery life is now quite acceptable. I've been able to go a day and a half before needing to recharge and recharging is very fast, about an hour from dead to full. The new processor used in the Gen 6 makes a huge difference in responsiveness and battery life. Fossil watches have always had great displays and the Gen 6 continues that tradition. The AMOLED display is brilliant, razor sharp, and easy to read even in bright sunlight. The always on display 'falls back' to a black & white clock face which is really nice for a quick peek at the time (it is a wrist watch after all!). A quick tap and your chosen display face pops up. Swipe left for the quick access apps, swipe right for Google Assistant, up for settings, and down for notifications. There are three hardware buttons, two can be programmed to bring up apps, the center one (now with a guard to prevent accidental touches) goes to the app select screen and scrolls. The knurled ring ring around the bezel is just ornamental, it doesn't scroll like the Samsungs. The Gen 6 has all the standard hardware expected in a smartwatch. an on board GPS, optical heart rate monitor, blood oxygen monitor, n-way accelerometer, altimeter, wifi, nfc, and bluetooth. There is a built in mic and speaker, which actually works well enough that I could take a call while cycling or in the car. It is also waterproof to 100ft, and while I haven't worn it swimming, it did survive our last downpour. Unboxing, the watch comes with a proprietary magnetic charging cable, a user's manual that essentially says "Download the WearOS App and follow the instructions". There is a tutorial on the watch taking you through the gesture and button functions. You have to supply your own usb charger. And there is a deceptively large book that has the safety information in a zillion languages. Charge up the watch, go through the setup (more on this later) and you're ready to go. The Gen 6 comes with a few apps installed, including Facer if you want to design your own watch face. It doesn't have any particularly proprietary junkware installed, which is really refreshing. WearOS looks a lot like Android and there are a lot of apps to do useful and useless things. Install your choice of apps, like Strava, and you're off. The Fossil Gen 6 is not just a fitness watch, although it can certainly function as one. The Google array fitness apps, including Google Fit is installed by default. I've used it at the gym and on several bike rides ranging from 30 to 50 miles each. Battery life oddly wasn't particularly affected when tracking activity. The longest bike ride was about five hours, starting at 90% battery and it was down to a little over 50% at the end of the ride. Google Pay was particularly convenient. Enter the pin when you put the watch on, and you don't need to enter it again unless you remove the watch. You simply hold the bottom button to pay. The watch detects that it hasn't left your wrist and doesn't ask for the pin until you remove the watch. That being said, the Fossil Gen 6 is not without its warts. The setup process asks for permission confirmaton of everything. Fortunately setup is over in a few minutes. And the battery life could (always!) be better; it would be nice to be able to get through a weekend away without charging. The upgrade to WearOS 3 is promised for 2022 with new features and better battery management, but it's not here now. For me, the negatives are minor and the positives, particularly the snappy response, make it well worth the upgrade. The Fossil Gen 6 is a real step forward over its predecessors and its competitors. It should definitely make your short list of smartwatches to consider.

I have been using Fossil smartwatches and Wear OS since 2018, beginning with the Fossil Gen 4 Explorist. While my past watches have always served my needs, that was all they did. Now with the new Fossil Gen 6, I can say I’m truly impressed and excited. To start, the Fossil Gen 6 is visually attractive. The shiny black metal body features a round face which is ringed by a purely decorative fixed ribbed bezel. The physical side buttons and crown have a solid feel to them with an appropriate amount of resistance. The band, which is super soft and very comfortable to wear, is a common size and features an easy release pin so it can be swapped easily for other readily available bands. Overall, the watch is slightly heavier than my previous watch, giving it a feeling of sturdiness while not being too heavy. Charging is accomplished via a included new proprietary magnetic puck/cable that makes a physical connection with 4 pins that enable super fast charging. Charging pucks from older Fossil watches can be employed, just yielding a slower charge rate. As with previous generations (and most modern devices, honestly), an AC adapter is not included. After it was charged, setup was quick and easy on my Pixel 3XL using the Wear OS app. Instructions on both the watch and the phone app are clear and easy to follow. Regarding performance, with the new Snapdragon 4100 processor and 1GB of RAM onboard, the watch has been super responsive with fast app launches and very smooth animations. Phone notifications appear promptly and can offer a vibration and/or an audible alert. Step and heart rate tracking have proven consistent and the addition of blood oxygen measurements is a nice addition. The onboard speaker and microphone work well enough to handle the occasional phone call or question to Google Assistant. Thanks to the new processor and customizable battery modes, battery life has more than comfortably gotten through a day of mixed use, even with the always-on screen and tilt-to-wake enabled. NFC works as expected and the 8GB of storage is a welcome improvement over previous generations of watches. My only real complaint here is the (current) lack of Wear OS 3. The Fossil Gen 6 hardware is really great, but Wear OS 2 has been around since 2018. Yes, its been updated over the years to include things like the new Tiles UI, but, at its core, its still 3 years old. And Wear OS 3 is already available on other watches. So its absence here is felt. But that’s admittedly temporary. At the end of the day, this is a great watch that is only going to get better.

Really wanted to like this watch. It was easy to set up, easy to operate, and WearOS has a lot of potential. However, the battery life is terrible. To use it at full capacity required me to charge it three times a day. At minimum capacity, I still woke up to it with a dying or dead battery.

My review of the Fossil Gen 6 watch. First, I really wanted to like this watch. It's been several years since I got a new time piece & I was looking forward to something that was both stylish & functional.. Sadly this watch failed both of my expectations . The watch appearance is more of something you'd wear for work or just everyday living. I would not wear it with a suit or to a business meeting. Now for as far as using the watch, it has many functions that don’t actually work. I only have one piece of advice. FORGET IT! Seriously, I used to make fun of my elderly Mother for not being able to work a VCR or print on her printer. Shame on me because I now completely understand how she felt. First complaint is the watch comes with what maybe is the worlds smallest instruction manual. For a watch with as many functions as this watch has there's like none, zero information to help you understand or get the most out of the watch. The booklet that comes with the watch simply says, turn it on, connect it to your charger, enable Bluetooth & follow the on screen instructions. The instructions what you to download all these apps. An app for Facer, a app for Google Pay, a app for Nike run club. I have no problem downloading a app for things I'll use but if I'll never use it why can't I just delete it from my watch & simplify my options. And, to make matters worse on the apps I did download, they worked one time & then when I went to use it again they wanted me to again download the app? Why didn't it just save my info? I did a internet search & found for starters the watch was launched with a old operating system...OS 2. The watch will at some point in the future get OS 3, but depending on where you get your info that could be 6 months to a year down the road. Will OS 3 improve the watch and in the mean time will a even more advance operating system come along? Only time will tell. Myself, I'd be hesitant to buy a watch today & hope 6 months later OS 3 is released. In the end I found myself totally frustrated with the watch. What worked one time wouldn't work the next. Your suppose to be able to view your watch apps on your phone. I tried & tried but never could. The battery would sometimes not even last the day without putting the watch into a energy saving mode. When the watch does that you lose all your setting & then have to reset your choices. Bottom line, watch is going back in the box & I'm going back to my old simple Chronograph watch.

So far, this is the best smartwatch I've had. The processor is quick and snappy. It just works how you'd expect, nice and fluid. My old watches would always be choppy and laggy, making them no fun to use. The charging on this thing is amazing (would still love to see wireless charging tho) being able to charge this watch in under an hour is wonderful! I use it moderately and get a day out of it. It goes into power save mode at 30% and the sleep monitoring still works. I'm excited to get the new wear os version update (next year) to see what it can do then. Something fossil has done yet again, is have the black bezel around the screen. I really want them to work harder to do edge to edge display. My old moto 360 was this way. Looked much better and having the "bigger" 1.5 inch display was soo much better. The easily removable watch straps are great. Change them to what you'd like. The black silicone one that came with it was the first strap to make my wrist break out. Now there's a nice cognac leather one in its place. All in all, I'm really enjoying the Fossil 6 Smartwatch

So I’m new to the smartwatch game. Until now, I didn’t think getting notifications from your phone on your wrist was enough to warrant the cost. I recently started tracking my fitness information on my phone, and I realized that I was missing out on steps counting because I didn’t always have my phone on me. I have also started using Google Pay a lot more and I liked the idea of not having to take my phone out to pay on the go all the time. These are the reasons that finally had me thinking of getting a smartwatch… but then I read that Wear OS was coming out soon and that only a handful of currently available models would receive the upgrade. I like Samsung in general, but I don’t like that you’d have to have a Samsung phone to get the most use out of their smartwatch models. Also, I use Google Pay and don’t want to have to set up Samsung Pay to get the same functionality out of a watch. Almost all of the watches I’ve ever owned in my life are Fossils and it just so happens that the Gen 6 is one of those few models that are getting the Wear OS 3 upgrade. Sold. I can’t believe how small this watch is! I’ve tried on smartwatches over the years and they always seem huge and bulky. In some instances, you wouldn’t even know that the Gen 6 is a smartwatch. Even given the size, I’m amazed at how loud it can get. It’s great that I can take and/or make phone calls with it. (I have taken a call with it once or twice just to try, but I still haven’t figured out where I would do this practically instead of just as a novelty.) The buttons on the side of the watch are great… for the most part. I like that you can customize the top and bottom buttons too (most) any app you want. I also love the middle button’s functionality, how it allows you to scroll through menus, or bring up the main menu, or pull up Google Assistant. What I don’t love is that the buttons are on the right side of the watch face. I wear my watch on my left wrist and it tends to sit close to the back of my hand. This isn’t great because I’m constantly finding that Google Assistant is waiting for me to say something or is throwing an error because the back of my hand has pressed the middle button randomly. I tried an app that switched the interface 180 degrees, but it didn’t really work out well. That’s the only real complaint that I can make about this watch. It’s been an amazing experience so far. As I’ve mentioned, this is my first smartwatch, but I’m still surprised at how responsive the interface is. My in-store demos with earlier iterations showed much more sluggish response than this model. Overall, I’m really happy with this watch. I would definitely recommend it.

Being a consumer of "smart watches", I would say that there are so many options available nowadays, it can be pretty overwhelming to consider which one may be "right" for you. With that said, when considering all the features and options available at the present time, there are a few brands that may be a bit more recognizable and garner attention. Sometimes they don't live up to the hype, either. But this Gen 6 by Fossil definitely is worth paying attention to as an option. Right out of the box and after set-up, which is very straightforward, this watch covers all of the main bases for someone, like myself, very, very well. I have had experience with other smartwatch brands before, and I have also used a Gen 5 from Fossil. With the Fossil name comes the Fossil high quality that one can expect. This watch is very fast and does everything most fitness trackers offer nowadays: It keeps track of steps, can monitor heart rate, check O2 levels in the blood, take phone calls, play music, and the usual smartwatch features. Some big "pros" that stuck out to be about this product are that it charges very quickly, doesn't overheat with use, and the band it comes with is pretty large and fits my wrist comfortably. Battery life may be an issue for some, though that would be subjective to everyone's experience. I found that using the "extended battery" setting, turning off "always on display", and disabling apps and notifications to be very helpful with maximizing the daily life of this watch. I haven't fully tested it, yet, but with my unique settings, I could probably go 28-30 hours until I need a charge. Also, right out of the box, it does come with one USB-A charger wire, so you can easily charge it through most computers or adapters. Additionally, naturally, this watch feels like it has high build quality and durability. If there are any "cons", I would say that it would be to utilize the full features of this watch and maximize your experience, I would definitely advise having the WearOS and Google Fit app on your mobile device, though it's not technically needed. If you don't, you could still benefit rom the features this watch has, but that'd be inhibiting your experience. But that just goes with smartwatch and smart device territory nowadays. There is always some additional app or software that can be used to enhance the experience, which I don't mind at all. Awesome watch, Fossil! I look forward to using this for as long as I can!

Fossil did a great job. The overall feel of this product is top notch along with excellent hardware and features. Aside from the standard features found on many smartwatches like pedometer, heart rate and notifications, this one has a mic and speaker built in so that you can take calls and communicate with Google assistant seperate from your phone. The Gen6 has better battery life than the previous generations, however you'll still have to charge it as often as you charge your phone. Through the watch you can install apps and games via Google Play store loaded on it although you can't just browse everything like you can on a phone or tablet. That's a fault of the OS and not Fossil. One of the most useful applications of this watch however, is the Google translate app. You can speak a language using the built in microphone and it will translate it back to you, you can also tilt your watch towards the other person and it displays what you said upside down so that they can read the translation. One of the other things I like about the Gen6 is that it is capable of being independent from your phone with its own Wifi and GPS signals. I have owned the Samsung smart watches & currently own Apple watch so I do have a high bar to judge against and did not expect much as I was a die hard android lover until I became soo frustrated that I gave Apple's ecosystem a try and even though this watch is high quality it is held back by the limitations of Android. If someone were on the Android ecosystem I would highly recommend the Gen6 but I don't think anyone will be leaving Apple to get the most out of this watch.

This is a very well made watch. The speed of the operating system is night and day vs. the previous generation Fossil. Button presses are met with a quick result. The spO2 sensor is a welcome addition to this generation. I have used several smart watches and this has them all beat. My favorite watches have been the Wear OS versions for the quick setup and minimal app installations. This works with Google Pay which I'm all in with. The one negative for me is the watch band fit on my wrist. It is either loose or tight and just doesn't have the perfect fit. Luckily there are lots of options for different bands. Battery life is pretty good, it get's through the day with plenty left over. This watch is absolutely my favorite smart watch that I've owned so far.

    Good Looking Watch-Poor function/battery

I received this watch back in October. Out of the box it looked nice and like a sport/athletic watch. I previously and still have a Samsung Active 2 so most of my comparisons come from that one. The initial setup/syncing was not that easy which could have been attributed to already having a watch synced up. I am not sure if anyone else has had experience running more than one at a time but it confused my phone. I did turn off the Samsung when I started using the Fossil. I was able to open the health app and watch app and it ran ok. The watch controls were not user friendly and I had difficulty finding the apps I wanted. All that being said my biggest issue was the battery life. This watch would not run 2 full days without a charge. 1 day was fine. If I did not charge it overnight I would need to put it in Low Power mode for the following afternoon until I got home. I contacted Fossil customer service and they made some recommendations but none seemed to help the battery life or they were functions I didn't think you should have to turn off just to get the watch to run for 2-3 days like my 2 yo Samsung does. Finally Fossil recommended I send it in for their service techs to check. That was in November. I received the watch back the first week of January. I sent the watch with the box/charger as they requested. They returned just the watch in a bag. So the result is I have a 'working' watch but I cannot charge it because Fossil kept the charger & box. I have yet to hear back from them since I let them know I was missing it. I would not recommend this watch other than for looks alone.

So far after 3 days of use (it got delivered early) I can notice an improvement over my Gen 5. Looking forward to when Wear OS 3 is available on this. Only negative is it's a dark grey compared to my black Gen 5, but it's not super noticable unless comparing the 2 side by side.
