I was skeptical from reading some of the reviews. The biggest complaint was the installation. I found installation to be a little challenging because the instructions are not Good. A little patience, common sense and trial & error prevailed. The SIM card and service are perfect and cheap. 4G LTE on the AT&T network.

Best Buy = ZERO Complaints so far. FreedomPop =1000 Complaints so far! It's been over a week since I got this sim card. I activated the same day it came, Sat. 9/1. As of today, 9/10 I still have ZERO Cell Service from FreedomPop!! Their customer service and tech support are the absolute WORST EVER! I've done everything they've told me to do, 5 X Now! Each time a different rep had me do something different claiming the previous rep gave me the wrong setup info. The site says the sim is activated but again, I STILL HAVE NO CELL SERVICE! No talk, No text, No data! Just 2 different FreedomPop apps loaded on my phone, and Neither of them work! @@@@@@@@ Because the Reps and Tech Support can't decide which one is correct for my phone/area! @@@@@@@ If I ever get the service working I certainly hope it's better than the service and support I've received so far!

I got the FreedomPop free service previously for an old work phone. It worked great for what I needed it for. I didn't know about this 12 month prepaid plan otherwise I would have tried it out. So when it came time for me to pick up a cell phone + plan for my dad, I jumped on this. I've paired up this plan with a Moto G5S Plus. An affordable unlocked phone with 64 GB of storage and 4 GB of RAM. The phone itself is quite responsive, and I figure will keep him running for a while as apps demand more resources. FreedomPop is served by AT&T in my area and it's been great. I went into the settings to make sure to notify my dad when he approaches 900 MB and turn off data as it gets closer to 1 GB. It's enough to get his emails and run some apps. He'sn't going to be streaming any content and if he's, he can do it over wifi when he's home. I was however, slightly frustrated with the setup process. The setup is all done online, which isn't a problem. The problem was finding an available phone number to choose from. I searched all the area codes near me and across the states of Michigan, Ohio, Indiana, Illinois, Iowa, and Wisconsin. None were available at the time, so I ended up with a phone number in Nevada. I'm sure I can change it later, but it was a frustrating part of the experience. I believe over time that FreedomPop purchases blocks of phone numbers as they become available, but at the time I couldn't find one easily. If this is still around when my kids need phones, I'll likely turn to this plan.
