I got the FreedomPop free service previously for an old work phone. It worked great for what I needed it for. I didn't know about this 12 month prepaid plan otherwise I would have tried it out. So when it came time for me to pick up a cell phone + plan for my dad, I jumped on this. I've paired up this plan with a Moto G5S Plus. An affordable unlocked phone with 64 GB of storage and 4 GB of RAM. The phone itself is quite responsive, and I figure will keep him running for a while as apps demand more resources. FreedomPop is served by AT&T in my area and it's been great. I went into the settings to make sure to notify my dad when he approaches 900 MB and turn off data as it gets closer to 1 GB. It's enough to get his emails and run some apps. He's not going to be streaming any content and if he is, he can do it over wifi when he's home. I was however, slightly frustrated with the setup process. The setup is all done online, which isn't a problem. The problem was finding an available phone number to choose from. I searched all the area codes near me and across the states of Michigan, Ohio, Indiana, Illinois, Iowa, and Wisconsin. None were available at the time, so I ended up with a phone number in Nevada. I'm sure I can change it later, but it was a frustrating part of the experience. I believe over time that FreedomPop purchases blocks of phone numbers as they become available, but at the time I couldn't find one easily. If this is still around when my kids need phones, I'll likely turn to this plan.

Great for light data users and the tech savvy

I use my Google Hangouts number on my phone, so I am not reliant on the FreedomPop systems--they just provide cheap access to the AT&T mobile data network for me. Also, if you are a light user of data (mostly texting, voice, and email, and if you are usually connected to wifi for heavy download usage), this is an amazing deal. Otherwise, FreedomPop will get you with charges for everything from voice mail to going near (not over) your monthly data allotment. The customer service is terrible, so don't expect to call customer service and get help--there are Internet forums that have limited usefulness, but again, you'll need to be at least somewhat tech savvy to rely on Internet forums as a main support system. So: Use Google Hangouts for free texting, voice mail and calling over the access provided by this great deal (and don't use too much data!), and you will be very happy.

$50? For a years worth of service? On AT&T's network? This is real! You get unlimited talk and text + 1Gb of service every month. What's the catch? You will have to pay extra for premium services like voice mail, roll over data, and other features. The voice and text services are through their app, where you can also access your account features. Also, you only have 1Gb per month. If you go over, you can either have your data topped off automatically, or you can pay for safety mode to disable your data when finished. I have been using FreedomPop for years, and this is the best product I have seen from them.

FreedomPop supports Wi-Fi Calling, a feature that allows you to make calls and send texts over Wi-Fi. It's handy if you're using the carrier's free service with its caps on texts and talk time, as you'll be able to use Wi-Fi for a lot of your calling and texting needs. Other special features include mobile hotspot support. FreedomPop also features rollover data, in which up to 500MB per month of unused data can carry over to the next month. Rollover costs $3.99 per month, but another option, Rollover Plus, costs $6.99 and lets you carry over up to 1GB of data. Your unused data doesn't expire, though you are capped at storing 20GB for the standard Rollover plan and 40GB for Rollover Plus. You can also earn data by referring friends to FreedomPop.

    Best Price

I've been using FreedomPop's basic free plan for over a year. Lately my data usage increased. Then I found this sim card. This is the best price so far I've seen for unlimited talk/text and 1GB data/month. One needs FreedomPop's app to make/receive calls and send/receive texts via wifi or data. AT&T's coverage is pretty good. So far I do not have major issue with making/receiving calls. Actually I like the app. Since there's no cellular signal in my office building, people have to go out to make a phone call using their cell phones. But I can make/receive calls through FreedomPop's app via wifi. I'm a very satisfied user. Also bought the sim cards for my family members.

I picked this up on black Friday so it was even cheaper than usual. The sim grants unlimited text/talk for the year, and 1GB data per month. It can be easy to blow through that data if you are not careful, but a little bit of curating of data usage on ios or android along with wifi usage and this is almost a nearly free cell plan. I have my father on this & recommend to everyone else. Yes, the price is inexpensive, but the coverage and service is good.

FreedomPop seems too good to be true, and frankly, it really is. You get unlimited talk, text and a GB of data every month for under $5 if you purchase the year in advanced. Now, you do need to keep a card on file with them incase you go over that GB, but if you stay under it, you'll never see a bill in the next 12 months. It's spectacular service on the AT&T network and data speeds are stellar. I'd give it three thumbs up if I could, but since I can't, it's just five stars and a ton of cash in my pocket.

The correct setup process is 1th, insert the card, and then there is a chance to set apn. 2nd, the official website is activated. Finally, you can download and install freedompop, otherwise the app will report that the phone hardware is not compatible. This is the summary after my attempt. I hope everyone can operate smoothly! By the way, The bestbuy express is very fast! Thank you very much! B est buy !

Activation was simple (less than 5 minutes online). I use the SIM in my old AT&T iPhone 6 (FreedomPop service works on the AT&T 4G LTE network). Got unlimited calls and texts for $50 a YEAR (not a month)! Also comes with 1 GB of data each month too but that is plenty for me because most of my data is over WiFi anyways which is always free. Awesome deal.

I brought it thinking this had to be to good to be true, but to my surprise I was wrong. One sim card that last for one whole and 1 GB of data every month, I tried it out and was in love with it. Since I don't used my phone that much it was perfect match for me. I have recommended it to friends and family who are paying too much for a service that they don't use a lot of data.

Make sure service works in your area prior to purchase. Used my sim in an unlocked ATT Samsung Galaxy S7 Active phone, with no problems. If you are a current Freedompop member I suggest using a new email to register as I had problems using my existing account. If you call FP for help they will want a 10$ surcharge.

I was skeptical from reading some of the reviews. The biggest complaint was the installation. I found installation to be a little challenging because the instructions are not Good. A little patience, common sense and trial & error prevailed. The SIM card and service are perfect and cheap. 4G LTE on the AT&T network.

This arrived on time and was very easy to install into my unlocked smartphone. Now I have cellular service for a whole year with unlimited talk, text and 1 GB of data all for $39. I was able to pick a number from a list of available phone numbers. You can add visual voicemail at an additional cost per month if needed.

When I first found this deal I had to read it twice. Unlimited talk and text plus 1GB per month for $49.99 ANNUALLY - not monthly! Popped the SIM into an unlocked T-Mobile GSM phone and works great. Excellent coverage with AT&T network. I switched my daughter over to it and saving many hundreds per year now.

I wasn’t expecting much when I picked this up. I was pleasantly surprised with how well it works. It uses AT&T LTE and my coverage is great and fast. I hit a few snags setting up their separate app for calls but it’s been smooth since. The promos for earning extra data is a welcomed bonus. Highly recommend checking this out.

Its great having a phone that doesn't eat your paycheck and gets you all the features and coverage of the big providers! We had been on FreedomPop for years under their month to month plan and this yearly plan is even better. Its easy to switch by pulling your other service providers SIM card out of your phone and installing this one.

It's less than 5 dollars a month! Team this up with your old phone and you have real insurance. It runs on ATT so if you have T-Mobile or sprint on your other phone, coverage will be better in spotty areas outside of town.

Excellent price and service. The only prblm is that voice is actually VoIP not cellular: need an internet connection and the use of their app, which eats your 1GB quota, and have a 2-3 seconds delay before your phone rings for incoming calls.

Get the sim pretty quick, and it is also quite easy to activate! The preloaded 1GB data is great for casual usage with google voice. The website is also friendly to use. Recommended!
