This is a good attachment for shredding vegetables such as carrots. I used it to shred hard cheese. For the cheese I was hoping there would be an attachment that would shred it even finer. It is easy to attach to the mixer.

We have used the cheese grater multiple times since our purchase. The shredder mows through a block of cheese in no time and removes the repetitive manual efforts of hand grater. Clean up of the attachment is fairly easy. We have found to have the bowl closer to the cheese discharge to reduce clean up of the surrounding area. Made the switch to grating cheese blocks versus buying shredded cheeses to reduce preservatives. FYI, we use this attachment on a Kenmore version of the mixer and not Kitchen Aid. Still works great.

It fits my 5qt professional model without issue. Shreds perfectly with the exception of how much is left over, do to the need for a space between the blades and casing there is a small amount that doesn't get shredded. But it is a worthy sacrifice for the ease of the product.

This unit makes life easier and healthier since we’re able to chunk cheese and grate it instead of using bag cheese with the extra anti-clumping additive. We also used it to chop cabbage for coleslaw and it came out perfectly.

The KitchenAid Prep/Slicer is an attachment you need for the KitchenAid Mixer. Grating cheese and vegetables is quick and easy. A pound of cheese grates in minutes. The attachment is very easy to use especially changing out the different blades.

Got this to make prep easier for meals. Works great on cheese and veggies. Shreds cabbage great for slaw, slices cucumbers, carrots, etc.

I buy brick cheese and it takes so long to shred it with a traditional shredder. This device shreds it so fast and easy! I was also able to slice a 5 lb bag of potatoes in no time at all!

The kitchenaid fresh prep is a huge time saver. I love the way it slices cucumbers and zucchini. I use it to shred carrots and cheese with little effort.

Shredding bulk cheeses for pizza, etc. saves $$. Slice potatoes for scalloped potatoes, potato chips. Cabbage for Cole slaw.......endless possibilities.

Some reviewers have complained of discoloration of the attachments or difficulty cleaning it. I find this to be untrue of my experience with it. Since purchasing this unit, I have shredded sharp cheddar as well as Colby cheese 4 or 5 times and have had no issues. One thing I do agree with is that there sometimes will be a thin strip of cheese that was not shredded once the blade attachment is removed, but I just eat that by itself, so its no great loss. Additionally, the shredding blades that come with the unit shred the cheese in a way that makes the cheese shreds/curls fluffy. While surprisingly amusing, it is beneficial because that means the cheese can be spread further in recipes.

My wife loves it so I can’t complaining. She had been wanting one for a while and is now able to grate.

Probably more than half - it's SO fast! My mom used it and ended up going straight out and buying her own. Super easy to use and clean. Don't question it - buy it.

This is a wonderful combine with which I can only make dough, but also chop vegetables. Also knead different versions of the test. It can also be used as a meat grinder. I am very happy that I bought it I dreamed about it for a long time and finally my dream came true, and I own it. Highly recommend an essential item in the kitchen.

this thing will slice anything. I use it to slice potatoes for fried potatoes. Works great

My wife loves to make recipes with grated cheese. This saves her time and skin. We used this to grate chocolate for toffee and it came out exactly how we needed it in half the time.

Use this constantly to make fresh cole slaw. I have had to cut the cabbage to fit the feed chute but ne it gets shredding, it make quick work of it. I like the quick change of the blades; just snap in and out with ease. I would prefer having a metal housing though. I feel like if I put too much pressure while feeding the shredder, I'll break it off the mixer.

Attaches quickly and easily. Used for shredding veggies and thin slicing. I can see where it would be great for shredding blocks of cheese. i plan on using this a lot!
