Not my favorite vampire movie. For an 80's movie it's just ok. Poor acting and effects. One of my favorite Vampire movies fromthe 80'sh is Lost Boys. The video and audio is exceptional for this Blu Ray disk.

    About time!

Fright Night, released in 1985, finally gets a proper blu ray release, a LONG time coming. Surprising, considering it spawned a sequel, had a planned 3rd film (until the Menendez Brothers murdered their parents- a fascinating story linked to Fright Night 3, worth a Google search!) A remake, and a sequel to the remake (OK, actually a second reboot direct to video). And, while perhaps "finally" is the wrong choice of word, it IS finally available to the masses, having previously only been released through Twilight Time, in small quantities, leaving Fright Night a difficult find at a reasonable pricepoint. Thankfully, Sony figured out the market for one of the best vampire films made was worth putting out in a wide release, and all fans should consider themselves luckier for that, not JUST that it was released mass market, but that Sony managed to secure the majority, if not ALL of the excellent extras Twilight Time packaged with their limited release, primarily the highly sought after "You're So Cool, Brewster!" Documentary and behind the scenes DOUBLE feature length film following both Fright Night and 1988 sequel, Fright Night 2. "Brewster!" Clocks in at three & a half hours, so make extra popcorn! But, the fun doesn't end there- 2 audio commentaries, another 4 featurettes beyond "Brewster!" (Including one honoring acting treasure Roddy McDowell) as well as yet ANOTHER piece of gold, the first ever reunion panel of the cast and director Tom Holland at Fear Fest 2. As to the film itself, it's not just one of the highlights of an 80s decade obsessed with vampires, it's arguably a highlight of the entire bloodsucker genre. It blends horror and comedy seamlessly together, making it palatable to even those not impressed with straight horror films, yet keeps its fangs buried deep enough to entertain even the most die hard horror-heads. Fright Night is to Near Dark much as American Werewolf is to The Howling... very much not just highlights of the 80s horror scene, but some of the very best in their respective sub-genres of vampires and werewolves, respectively, of ALL-TIME, yet two different "flavors," with Fright Night & American Werewolf opting to inject breathing room in the form of humor, whilst Near Dark & Howling opt to stay the course of straight horror. Whether you're a long time fan of Fright Night or a newcomer, this is the release to put on your shelf. Don't wait, because you're "in for a most frightful night" with this packed disc!

"Fright Night" is one of the best vampire movies ever and probably the best of the 80's. When it came out in 1985 the Slasher genre was on it's highest peak and as Peter Vincent said to Charlie, "his generation prefers movies where a masked looney kills virgin innocents" (or something like that). When nobody cared about Vampires "Fright Night" came out with a tremendous potential on it's story, actors, and make up; the basic elements that a Slasher movie needs. The result is an entertaining, chilling, and very well done horror movie better than expected.

First time the Studio has released this on Blu-Ray; The Copy I received looks great Not Washed Out as I’ve heard some Of Twilight Times Run are compared to their first limited Blu-Ray Release. A Must Watch as It’s a piece Of 1980’s Horror that shouldn’t be missed and is as close to actually being there to see it on the big screen. The Sound Is good and the extras are pretty good too.

I have always loved the original fright night movie and was not able to get it previously on blu ray so when I heard SONY was releasing it again I ordered it right away. I really can’t compare to other releases, but I have watched it on streaming and will say on the whole the disc is better then streaming for the majority of the movie. It does still have some grain on the dark scenes but over all it is a better picture then the streaming version I own. Also I have not seen any of the extras yet but they are extensive. If you are a fright night fan this is a must buy! I have no idea how many copies they will print but if you find it buy it!

Great performances by Chris Sarandon and Roddy McDowell. Scary enough to keep you watching and has a very good flow to the storyline to keep you entertained! Classic plus a very sexy soundtrack that makes the movie hypnotizing to watch! Love this version!

I like this movie. I'm not sure if I would have enjoyed it so much in its theatrical run in 1985, but looking back from a perspective on what modern horror has become, there's something nostalgic and utterly creepy about the practical effects, the film grain, the soundtracks, and the goofy acting in 80s horror. That is no exception in the original Fright Night of 1985. It's entertaining, and I will revisit it frequently (probably around Halloween), which is the highest among my echelons of compliments. It's worth noting for blu-ray purists out there that this is considered a "made on demand" title, but it is also a pressed disc (NOT BDR). I'm surprised this didn't make it to store shelves, but I'm happy it got a release at all.

Fright Night was a film I first saw as kid in the late 80's,It came out in 1985.I always watch it still when it's on cable. So I was very happy with this release since the previous blu ray was very limited and the only other release requires importing.Even as a MOD this is a very good release.Great picture and sound and lots of bonus features. brought over from those limited and international releases.

I’ve been waiting a long time to get this on Blu-ray!! The transfer and sound are beautiful and this is packed with lots of extras!! The best of which is the documentary “You’re so Cool Brewster” a feature length look at the film, which is worth buying all by itself!! Can’t recommend this more!

This hard to find title is a gem on Blu-ray. While it was released by Twilight Time with an isolated music track, this release has a plethora of great extras including the 2.5 hour documentary "You're so cool Brewster!" If you can find it for a decent price, get it!

Out of print two times over from Twilight Time, Sony has finally released Fright Night on their own. A/V is great and now with more bonus features, including a feature length documentary on the making of the film.
