We decided to get an upright model and I'm very happy we did. Instead of bending over a chest freezer trying to find that steak you buried in there a few months ago, it's nicely available on a shelf in an upright model. This one had LED lighting, easily movable shelving and seems to be pretty efficient and quiet. The door makes a very solid seal when it's closed and it seems to be well-built in general.

Too Loud

I read the reviews that mentioned this but had no idea it would be this loud. It’s as loud as a motorcycle revving up. For this reason I’m sorry I bought it. Also, the machine arrived with two small dents on the front, that the delivery man reported with pictures and a phone call at the time of delivery. We did not receive any amount off the purchase price. We had to put wood shims in front of the machine, otherwise it practically topples over when you try and open it. It freezes things well and is the size we wanted. Overall a disappointing purchase.

The tightness in the door seal indicates that the gasket is sealing properly. If you're opening the refrigerator, I suggest gently sliding your hand around the gasket and door frame to loosen the seal so that you can open the door.

Keeps everything nice and frozen without causing any food burn. Note: this freezer IS auto-defrosting, which is fabulous. (I couldn't find the info on Best Buy's website, but confirmed with Frigidaire.) Delivery and "installation" were free - and despite what Best Buy says, there is no waterline hookup required. Just plug into an electrical outlet and you're good to go (let cool for at least 12 hours before putting food in).

But with that being said, it is noisy, the door sticks badly and doesn't come with the number of shelves they advertise. If you have the financial flexibility, choose something else.

Posted .Hey Frugalbaker, thank you for sharing your review with us regarding your new freezer. I am sorry to hear that you are experiencing some concerns and would like to see where we can help. Typically, the compressor operates at a higher pressure when first starting and the noise should disappear as the refrigerator continues to run and balance pressures. For the freezer door, a tight seal is a good thing. Something that may help a little is to gently slide your fingers between the gasket and frame of the freezer, this will help release some of that pressure and allow you to open the door without a struggle. How many shelves did you receive with your new appliance? This model typically comes with three wire shelves and five fixed door shelves. I am loving this freezer. I have plenty of room and the shelf spacing is perfect for a turkey or anything else. It is quiet and is doing a great job.
