However, the spacing of the shelves makes it challenging for certain wide bodied bottles to fit well, particularly on the very bottom shelf where the shelves are connected.

My opening was right at 22" so this unit fit like a glove. I would say that the unit is just na picnch smaller than 22" though if you are worried about the fit.

It makes a cooing / wooshing sound that’s so annoying when our house is quiet at night, it makes me regret buying it.
