Customers consistently note the excellent cooling capacity of the 450 sq ft Window-Mounted Compact Air Conditioner, with many praising its ability to cool even large spaces. The unit's ease of installation and use are also frequently highlighted as positive aspects. It's the nicest one I ever bought. It has so many settings I'm still learning.

Cool, but needlessly quirky. Thoughtless design.

I'm not sure why this is getting all 5-star reviews.
I'll start with the good points: Cools very well.
The automatic fan speed feature is a nice touch I haven't seen in an air conditioner, just in cars with ATC.
The vents have a wide enough range of direction so you can aim them the way you want.
In other words, it does what an A/C unit is supposed to do. There are some fairly major caveats no one has mentioned, and I'm puzzled as to why they didn't.
I would rate the fan noise as fair at 62 dB and a peak of 232 hertz, but it does pump out a large volume of air so that's acceptable.
However, things drop from here.
The indicator lights are useless in daylight. They are too small and too dim. In a bright room, you have to shade over them so you can see them.
Even then, you're faced with not actually seeing which are lighted. Instead, you have to guess which of the indicator lights is 'less dark' than the rest of them.
You can do it in reverse by seeing which of the rest of the indicators are darker.
The size of the holes is ridiculous. All that real estate on the front panel and all we get are pinpricks and a dim bulb to tell what mode you're in?
I suppose it might work (maybe) if the lights themselves were bright LEDs to squeeze more light through the pinpricks.
The remote is just about useless. All you have are buttons telling you what mode they control. No lights telling you the status of the mode your in.
No indication of fan speed, cooling mode, your set temperature, and timer info. You know, things that are useful for a remote to have.
I find it ironic you have to move from where you are with the remote in hand and go over to the unit, which, as mentioned earlier, is only readable in dim light.
It would be bearable if the remote gave you ANY readable indication, but it doesn't even HAVE lights, dim or not.
The big black thing in the center that looks like a read-out isn't. It's just a piece of plastic taking up room.
I don't know how any of this got by R&D and QC; I would have thought someone would notice these flaws but whatever.
In summation, it cools great, lots of air coming out, the auto fan speed is a nice touch, and the unit looks great.
Basic design flaws make it a chore to use.
Can't read the control panel on the unit.
Remote is a button-pushing guessing game.
All of the above issues result from poor product planning, no attention to detail, and a lack of thought for the end consumer.

I bought this product to replace an identical earlier model. Very disappointed with this purchase. It is extremely loud--almost like a leaf blower across the room--when on high, and it has major issues accurately measuring the temperature. Even though it's not on auto, it will cease blowing air when it "thinks" it's at the desired temp, yet the room is MUCH warmer than indicated. And there's no way to simply have it run constantly at a certain temp, so the room never entirely cools down. Not a superior product.

Product was damaged when I received it. Not packaged very well. Difficult to return and it seems to work ok but longevity will probably be an issue.

It lasted two years stopped blowing cold air. Waste of money.
