The only problem we had with the installation (we did it) was that the mounting nut to secure the microwave to the cabinet had fallen into the microwave. This is a piece that is attached internally in the microwave. We had to remove the microwave sleeve to find the nut and resecure it. Best to double check that these nuts are in place prior to hanging.

It does well everything it's meant to do, from microwaving, to convection cooking, to air frying. You may find you'll want to adjust how or on what you're cooking, e.g., baking or reheating pizza, but in the end i think you'll be pleased with the results. Looks-wise, it's clean and modern; I only wish the brand label was a little less conspicuous.

The air fry mode is a selling point and seems alright if you add 15 minutes to any frozen product description. This could indicate that the area volume inside the microwave is larger than most stand alone air fryers. The build quality is nice and the appearance is excellent. One quirk that may be a feature of most over-range microwaves is the reason this unit lost 2 stars in the review. Turn on the vent fan and the 1980AFA microwave sure does blow air like intended. This is out of a discrete opening in the top of the door crevice. Now for the confusing aspect of the product orientation process. Where does all of this air that the vent fan is blowing come from? My guess is that this air should be feeding the blower fans from the bottom of the unit through the stainless mesh screen openings. Not with this particular serial number. Not a logical guess as for why it would not. Would not recommend this item due to the confusion that this model might evacuate air from a cooktop below.

Tried the popcorn setting on the microwave. Tried instructions on the popcorn. Tried 30 seconds at a time, shaking bag in between, but always burnt and smoldering in the middle. Is there something we’re missing? No real test for other foods/functions yet.

Unfortunately it broke down, and I needed a new one with exactly the same size. Happy to report that a new model fits a mounting from a previous one.

The 'air fryer' is awful, a pittance compared to our actual air fryer. 2 months after installation the surface lights for the stove stopped working, not covered by warranty, easily replaced by me. Then 11 months into use the machine stopped functioning altogether, while not even in use. This was covered by warranty, but took 25 calendar days for a repair person to even show up. Frigidaire customer service is absolutely horrendous.
