Based on the novel "The Short-Timers" , Kubrick's 1987 movie about the journey of a platoon from their boot camp training to their deployment in the Vietnam War is viewed as modern classic in terms of its depiction of the physical and mental toll of War. The excellent acting of the two leads ( Matthew Modine , Vincent D'Onofrio ) is only eclipsed by the over-the-top performance of Lee Ermey as the infamous Gunnery Sergeant Hartman. This 2020 re-release of FULL METAL JACKET shines with a new 4K transfer that shows intricate details of the sets, locations and costumes that were not visible on the 2007 blu-ray release. Buy this 4K release with confidence if you are a fan of the movie

The 4k is superior! One of the greatest Kubrick's movies!

As a Marine, I’m a little biased on this film. However, this movie is the most accurate portrayal Of what it was like to go through Marine Corps Boot Camp. The attention to detail is second to none. The acting in the dramatics of this film make it one of the best, if not, the best of all military movies

Great movie and now it's made 4k nothing more to say

This movie looks .... FANTASTIC! I had the blu ray previously, but I'm upgrading several of my Blu Rays to 4K. Though this movie came out in the 80's, the 4K restoration provides better colors, and detail I've never seen before. Definately a step up from the Blu ray!

This is another excellent 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray disc presentation from Warner Bros. Great to see another Stanley Kubrick title get a release on this format too. I hope to see more 4K Kubrick releases soon. In particular, where is Barry Lyndon, whose imagery and lighting are just crying out for the 4K HDR treatment?

A must own Kubrick movie! A harrowing look at Vietnam through the eyes of one man and how he tries to make sense of it while not losing his self identity. 4k transfer is beautiful and HDR works well where needed. The sound pops on this transfer. Makes good use of your surround and my rumble seats shook like no other.

This is a classic Vietnam War Movie, as a Retired Marine I appreciate GySgt E Lee Ermy’s accuracy in playing a Vietnam era Marine Drill Instuctor, because he really was one. Good night Gunny, I will relieve you from Gard duty at the Pearly Gates when I get there, Semoer Fi, and enjoy the show.

Very good movie . I’d say this is the closest thing to actually being in Marine Corps boot camp . I couldn’t believe how this movie took me back to my boot camp days and brought back a lot of old memories . If you haven’t seen it give it a try I loved it .

This is one of the best, if not the best portrayals of the Vietnam War was like and of Marine Corp boot camp. My father was a Marine and he said it was the closest he has seen to the war and to the Marines. Buy it is my recommendation.

It’s Kubrick. You know the movie is good. The picture quality is amazing on this 4K, especially in the second half when more colors are on display. It looks like film, so if you hate grain, this won’t sway you, but it does look about as good as it will probably ever look on home media.

I watched this movie years ago, and it has always been one of my favorites. For this reason, when I saw this movie on sale and in 4K UHD, I knew I had to get it. The movie plot is very compelling and gives you a good idea of what it was like to be a grunt during the Vietnam War.

Any Stanley Kubrick on 4k is a good thing. With some of his titles already on offer in 4k, it was time FMJ had it’s really. Joker, cowboy, snowball and private pile are all here for this Vietnam War title to remember. Buy it, watch it, share it with friends

Impressive transfer. GRAIN is needed or the soap opera effect would ruin this. Just looking at the detail in the barracks, you can read out whats in lockers, posters on the wall etc. Detail overload has begun

To me one of most accurate portrayals of basic training ever put on film, and this is what I have always loved about the movie. The second half I have come to appreciate after repeat viewings over time. I just look at it as two different movies, and it works for me.

Warner Brothers delivers a solid video presentation but I wished they would have included a Dolby Atmos soundtrack. But, it's worth a purchase.

Stanley Kubrick's Full Metal Jacket is a classic movie that everyone needs to watch. I was never in the military, but the drill sergeant in this movie amazing. It is one of my favorite war movies. It was nice to add the 4k version to my collection.

A classic Vietnam war movie, but can be polarizing. This release is excellent and the movie looks amazing. There are not any new special features from the previous release, but this is still an excellent presentation.

The film has never looked better yet still holds the grittiness fans have come to expect from the movie. Growing up in a military family, it was a must see for all us Military kids. Yep, no one wanted to go to Paris Island after this! As an adult, I can appreciate the direction and style of the film. It’s not for everyone, it’s not one of those disc I’ll watch every year-but it will be one I’ll revisit from time to time. It’s not an easy watch; it’s made to make u feel uncomfortable and it does that very well.
