    Good camera for Alaska

    Purchased first camera in mid May 2018, that camera failed after roughly 2 weeks. Immediately exchanged it and now the second camera has failed after roughly 6 weeks. The camera system itself is pretty good, if you live in Alaska, the Pacific NW, or you are willing to unplug the camera and remove it from the car if you are in any season other than winter. Short of that, and from my experience with TWO cameras thus far, its just a matter of time before it burns out. I had the camera set to power down when the vehicle was off, started the car up on a warm day, and dead........again.......I wouldn't even remotely consider using this unit as a hardwired continual recording camera. I own plenty of Garmin products and they typically handle whatever I throw at them for as long as I can throw it at them, but not this device. This camera is, without question, the lowest quality Garmin product I've ever owned. If they could make this camera as temperature tolerant as their Fenix 5X wrist watch or any other device they make, it would be a no brainer.......but as it stands, I'm still considering whether its even worth it or not to go through the whole warranty process to replace this camera in order to get a third stick of butter to put on my windshield........

    Overheats and dies

    First sunny day in my truck, outside temperature only 53 degrees, camera died and would not turn on for 30 minutes in the shade. I contacted Garmin support. They said if camera is at latest firmware then there was nothing else they could do. Well, this is being returned to Bestbuy. Thankfully I didn't buy this anywhere else but Bestbuy. I can trust that when something goes wrong, Bestbuy will refund your money or exchange. I will look for another dashcam that is ready for the extreme temperatures that obviously occur in a vehicle.

    Not sure why it gets so many 5 stars here but so many one star at Amazon. I am not satisfied with this product at this price. Remember, this is GARMIN! Every time I turn on the device I have to setup language and locale, and agree the warning. For a CAR camera this is not reasonable. Why the settings cannot be saved automatically? Video quality is pretty bad (at this price), grainy. And it has strong distortion even at center area. High temperature while it is working. Have to return it back to store the other day.

    Overheating Garbage

    I thought the product was great until it started to get above 50 degrees outside. I had it wired to always be on when my car was driving... it worked great until it started getting warmer outside and then I noticed that the Dash Cam would turn off. I would touch the Dash Cam and it was extremely HOT. I updated the software to the latest version as of April 2018 and no change in operation. It is too late to return and now I have a piece of Overheating Garbage

      Sounds like the display may be timing out. This model includes a Display Timeout setting which will automatically dim the display of the device after a period of inactivity. The device will continue to record video even while the screen is dimmed (indicated by a red light), provided the microSD card remains in the device and the device remains powered on.     First of all let’s talk about the first camera that I bought that I wanted to cameras front and back it started malfunctioning on me doing its own thing I went to Best Buy they gave me a new one same brand same issue by this time too late did not offer me a store credit I ended up getting another camera and I can’t even see the thing because my mirror is blocking the view of the camera I am very disappointed I will never shop At Best Buy again as long as God gives me breath trust and believe that

    I purchased this as my second Garmin for another vehicle. Two weeks after I purchased it it would not take a charge and therefore not power on. I took it back to the Wesley Chapel, Florida Best Buy and they refused to exchange it. I bought another one from Wal-mart . I need to purchase two more for my other two vehicles and will purchase them from Wal-mart or Amazon, as their exchanges are problem free.

      I am sorry to hear that the Dash Cam stopped working. When a device won’t power on a soft reset often resolves the issue. Connect the device to the vehicle power cable, or an AC adapter. Press and hold the power button for 10 to 15 seconds. Once the device powers on fully charge the battery.     Gets hot and turns off

    I don’t know what’s worse, the dashcam or Garmin customer support. 7 days old and they want me to mail the unit to them and after they check it they’ll send me a refurbished unit with a 90 day warranty. No thanks garmin, I believe bestbuy can send it back to ya and I’ll buy a different brand.

    Worked for less than 3 months

    Worked fine for a while and now it won't stay on while it is plugged in even though the cable shows that it is getting power. The unit still works when it is NOT plugged in, but is as useful as a brick for taking pictures and videos while driving. An expensive paperweight now. Don't Buy.

    Poor quality picture, Not true parking mode. Need to clarify what their parking mode does. When they say it detects motion, most people would think that means something moving around the front of vehicle. This cam doesn’t do that. Memory card was degrading the first day of use.

    No magnet in box (allows you to attach the camera to the inside of your windshield) and instructions are not clear. After 3 days of use, I took it back for a refund. This camera gets so hot, you could fry bacon in it (even in November) and I got a Uniden instead at Best Buy that I’m totally happy with.

    I have been running this dashcam for a year now and i can say the footage in the beginning was really good but after a year of constant usage the footage looks so grainy. For the price of the product this is unacceptable. I will be looking at a replacement now.

    I submitted a review of the SD card, but it should have been for the camera, the sticky wouldn't stick, feel off of the window, arm fell off got lodged in a tight spot next to seat. Can't retrieve it, can't use camera. A waste of money.

    My dash cam

    Hard to set up. Display is not even big enough to see whats going on. Alerts are annoying. The video transfer is hard to figure out. Cam doesn’t show the mileage on screen. It doesn’t have a shock detector and requires not included cable

    Lasted one month

    It only lasted one month and die. Luckily best but had extended there return because of Christmas so I got my money back. at this point I'm not sure if I buy another one or a different brand

    Don't Buy!

    Garmin 45 worked for about 2 months and just died. Tried everything to get this piece of crap to work. I mailed it to Garmins headquarters so they could see the junk they where making. Don't waste your time on these product.

    I found this Garmin dash cam to be cheaply made and difficult to operate. Also, after three days it stopped recognizing that there was a media card installed. I returned it to Best Buy.

    Garbage, waste of money

    I bought this brand new and after a week, its stuck on the garmin loading screen until goes dead, and does the same process. $160??????? They are taking your money. Do not BUY!!!!!!

    This thing picks and choses when it wants to record. Was just in an accident and it was not recording. I had the parking cable installed so it should be recording 24/7

    Wouldn't update to latest software with Garmin Express and VIRB App wouldn't connect via WiFi. Garmin Support was no help at all.
