Decent camera, horrible power cord & customer srvc

The camera is pretty decent, license plates can be a little grainy and unreadable unless the vehicle is stopped right in front of you. The main thing is it is clear enough to show police what happened should you need it. My biggest issue is the power cord. I have been through 2 power cords in the year I have had the camera. With the new software upgrade the camera won't take a random mini USB, it has to be specific for the camera or it will think it is plugged into a computer and not record. It is obviously a bigger issue then just me since all stores, including Garmin online store, are sold out of the power cord. I have contacted Garmin support multiple times and they don't seem to care calling it normal wear and tear. I expected more from a big name company.

Not a bad choice overall. It does suffer from some flaws that other dash cams I have had do as well. - good video during day but suffers at night - very picky on the SD card. My first card fell in the parameters given but the camera would not accept it each time it was turned on without ejecting and re-inserting the card. Gave up and got a different card. - forward collision in my opinion is a marketing gimmick. There is no laser to properly judge distance. Gets really bad in stop/go traffic. My camera always seems to think I am going to die all the time - lane departure is so hit/miss, it is pretty pointless. Does well on solid lines but very poor on the dashes. - wish the WiFi would stay connect to phone all the time (like the Bluetooth ones do). Would make getting videos much easier (not having to reconnect all the time0 and you could make changes to the camera from the phone.

Thanks for the feedback. Updating the software on the dash cam should resolve the SD card issue. If you haven't installed Garmin Express please download it from the following link:  www.garmin.com/express

Also, the sensitivity of the forward collision warning system can be changed. The options are from off to high sensitivity. This Garmin FAQ link will provide detailed steps:  http://bit.ly/2tZSby2

Thanks again for the feedback. If you need any assistance, Garmin Product Support would be happy to help. Our contact information, including telephone number and hours of operation, can be found on at: https://support.garmin.com/en-US/

Well I can't really give it a complete and full review as I believe it was a returned product. The hardest to the cigarette port was already lose and unwrapped and the USB already in the camera. I drove and it did perform the lane warning and close warning and you can control the volume or just turn it off. But the recording was only one minute and it did not only record my trip back but it recorded over my trip to my destination which was very upsetting. Everything was lost and very little was recorded even though there were plenty of memory left on the USB. In the end I returned for a full refund. The box was not sealed should have been the major sign that I should not over looked but it was a last minute Online purchase for a trip I was going on in 2 hours that night.

This Is A Good Dash Cam And Takes Decent Quality Photos And Videos However The Virb App To Connect To Your Phone Or Tablet Is Nearly Useless Extremely Slow When It Works But Most Of The Time Freezes Leaving The Only Option To Transfer Vids And Pics With A PC. Also The Camera Will Get Extremely Hot And Even Sometimes Shut Down..... I Have Returned This Dash Cam 45 And Purchased The Dash Cam 55 And No Longer Have Any Of The Problems Described Above.

Good HD quality, excellent night vision. small and doesn't obstruct view. BUT, the charger cord is upside down which makes it weird to look at, additionally, my camera stopped providing audible signals when I left lane or traffic started moving and I can not make it chirp again, may be a faulty device? this happened in Month # 8

The power cable is designed to be routed up and out of sight around the windshield, tucked it into the gap between the windshield and the trim. You may also want to connect the dash cam to a computer to update the software using the Garmin Express program. Garmin.com/express Garmin

I have returned this item. The specs indicate that temperatures over 130* will damage the components of this dash cam. I don’t know about you, but I know that when my truck is locked up in the summer with the windows rolled up it gets to be way over 130*.

I bought this camera less than a year ago, and after a few months, the battery started to die. It kept turning off and eventually it would not turn on again. I opened the device to see if I can replace the battery, but you can't put it back together once you disassemble it.

The battery life on this dash cam is 30 minutes from a full charge. Using the provide vehicle power cable will allow the device to record continuously when connected to external power. Garmin

I really want one of these but cable management is driving me crazy. Even though the device is super small there is a lot of cable to route to the power source. I ended up returning before using because I didn't like how the cable looked in my car

After only 3 months of use, it stopped working. Since we didn't start using it for a few months after Christmas, that means it was still less than 6 months old. Disappointed.

Ok camera, misleading ad for forward collision system. It only works above 35 mph... More for a safe following distance and not collision warning.

The Garmin Dash Cam is designed to immediately begin recording video when it is turned on. It will continue to record, overwriting the oldest non-protected videos, until the device is turned off. While recording, the LED near the screen on the device will remain a solid red even if the display has dimmed. Garmin

Camera screen display is way too small and the lane departure warnings and close impact proximity warnings work intermittently.
