I am excited to use my new Garmin. I don’t have a smart phone and I use a gps device all the time when I travel. I previously had a Tom Tom, but got a Garmin this time and look forward to traveling with it.

I had to buy a new Garmin and I wanted simple and basic...like my old one. This is pretty close. The screen is amazingly clear in comparison to old Garmins and works well. I'm hoping I get as many years out of it as I did my old one.

Terrific replacement for Garmin Nuvi, which lacks sufficient memory. Garmin Express made transfer of saved locations from old Nuvi to Drive 53 EASY! Alerts (speed change, school etc.) big help. Easy to add foreign language.

I have had Garmin GPS units for a very long time and they just keep getting better. They aren't perfect but close enough to it to make it a five star. There is not much it can't find and with a quick update of maps and software it finds those new things that pop up. The only thing that is slightly annoying is the search method. It works great but it is multiple steps instead of just putting an address in the search bar. You have to first do the house/business number then you have to put in the street name then and then and finally you got it. It just seems a little bit counterintuitive. Other than that the suggestions for places such as restaurants and gas stations are spot on and makes life easier when you are away from your home area.

The Garmin Drive 53 is a solid choice for U.S. drivers who want a simple, dedicated GPS. Its bright 5” display, clear directions, and helpful driver alerts make navigation easy without relying on a smartphone. Setup is quick, and preloaded U.S. maps are accurate and reliable. However, address entry can feel slow, and live traffic data isn’t as robust as phone-based apps. Map updates require a computer, and the interface feels basic compared to newer devices. Overall, it’s a dependable, distraction-free navigator for everyday U.S. travel.

This was a replacement for an old Garmin. It easily installed into the same location and set up was a snap. I love Garmin. I depend on its speedometer as the one in my car is hard to view. Navigation is easy and easier to see than my other devices.

The item worked like described and had no issues. I did have an update on the device when purchasing and made sure to complete all updates on garmin express. Gps had no issues and new updates and interface made a major difference. Will recommend 100%

We like this Garmin Drive 5" GPS. Set up took just a few minutes, options were logical and covers a lot. Screen is easy to see and adjusts. Have used on several trips and got us thru it well. This is an economy gem.

Works well BUT the cord that came with it is supesr short and most new cars dont have a port that allows it closer to the windshield. Seemed to be on top of speed limits etc but didn't really see much in terms of alternate routes/detours (maybe we just didn't come across any)? Haven't figured out how to change the voice yet so not as intutitive as other Garmin models.
