Customers commend the DriveAssist 51 LMT-S for its excellent camera, which is frequently praised for accident protection, and its user-friendly GPS navigation system. Many appreciate the ease of use and the helpful voice command features. While some users mention limitations in battery life and memory card functionality, the positive feedback on the core features outweighs these concerns.

I really enjoy using the Garmin for the ease of use and they do have pretty good maps. But the speech recognition is absolutely terrible, I can't tell you how many times I've tried to get an address put in and there's absolutely no way it can understand. It's very frustrating. Also when you're typing in an address you can't start with the zip code you have to start with just the address and then it looks at everything that is around that area that you're in. So for instance if you want to try to put in the area ahead of time it's very difficult to get it to understand where you were looking at. For instance if I wanted to look up an address in Pennsylvania right now and it's like to 55 Main Street it would start looking around my home area and all of the main streets all the way up to where I can actually want to search. The other annoying thing is you can get some place one way and you just want to turn around and go back the way you came , well it will chart an entirely new route. That is so frustrating.

Accurate but disappointing. Shows eta but not current time when enroute. No visible compass. Voice commands auto on when unwanted. When paired w iphone it won’t let you disconnect during phone calls that u prefer to take over car audio. On even slightly curvy roads the lane drift alert wears u out. Head on collision alert does same in curves. Turn them OFF ! Half assed effort fromGarmin

The unit is very good but the screen keeps freezing up. I have to turn it off and then reenter the info on where I was going. This is my 2nd Garmin DriveAssist 51, I returned the first one for the same problem.
I like it because it records everything including audio. I didn't want a dash cam attached to the windshield and have a separate GPS.

Really like this model. The voice command feature makes it easy to add stops along the route, although it sometimes takes many attempts to use, it is getting better. Synched it to my phone yesterday and the live traffic updates notified me of a closure on I-35 and detoured me around an accident that I am quite certain would have resulted in a lengthy wait to get by. Highly recommend this product for anyone who has to travel a lot. Also bought my wife the same model and she loves it.

The GPS has worked well for us so far. The only issue is that the hdmi cord doesn’t charge while hooked up to the computer. It only charges while plugged into the car charger.

Garmin makes great navigation products, don't get me wrong. Garmin chose not to put the power cord with traffic receiver built in with the DriveAssist 51LMT-S, which makes you have to use your phone for traffic features. If I wanted to use my phone in this way I would have used my smartphone for navigation instead of buying a GPS. If you want the cord with the traffic receiver you will have to pay an additional $60 for the pleasure. Garmin needs to think about these things, that is one of the reasons people buy stand-alone GPS's.

Thank you for your feedback. You mentioned the traffic cable options and I wanted to follow-up that the GTM 36™ and GTM 60™ cables are compatible with this GPS and for folks that have a previous Garmin GPS that came bundled with either of these cables, they will also work with this GPS. Thanks, James

I use this GPS with the weighted dash mount (optional) to allow movement between various vehicles. This is the 5th Garmin GPS I have purchased over the last 10years and the last 4 are still in operation. Having camera and GPS in the same unit frees up power sockets and reduces the number of wires on the dash. The quality of the camera gives a very good quality picture equal to the other dash camera that I have used. I will be getting a larger memory chip.

Lots of bells and whistles. Has lifetime maps and traffic, but you need to purchase a special cable to get traffic alerts.

Garmin’s DriveAssist is a pretty decent GPS. Has been accurate every time I used it so far. The dash cam is pretty cool as well. Would like to see more options for what you pay for. More vehicle choices and voice options without having to download. Still a little tricky using voice prompts. Would consider buying again.

I love the screen size of this gps. I can easily read what it has on the screen. I like that the camera on it will make the unit make a noise if you are getting to close to the lines on the road. It also lets you know when your speeding. Overall I like it especially when we take long trips.

I bought this for my new 2017 Ford Mustang. because the camera has to be pointed directly straight, without being able to adjust the camera, Glare on the screen is an issue. Another note is that if your windshield is small, then you're going to be blocking a lot of your view. this unit also threw a lot of glare on my windshield at night, so it only made matters worse. I have a proclip setup in my car, so I can mount a GPS on my dash, rather than my windshield, but the camera at this location was blocked by my dash, and the lane departure wouldn't work at this location. in the end, I had to return this, as my regular Drive 51 worked much better for the time being.
