Posted .The GPS is designed to create routes by estimating the fastest and most direct way to reach a destination using major roadways. There are several navigation settings on your device that can affect the way it calculates routes.
To check Navigation settings: on the GPS select Settings, then select Navigation and check the following:
• Calculation Mode – Garmin recommends keeping this set to Faster Time
• Avoidances – place a checkmark next to items you want to avoid
Out-of-date maps or software can also cause your device to route inappropriately.

I have never had such a frustrating product.It fails to recognize the connected GPS.When I started to type an address, the screen went blank.

The ICONs are too small to see without reading glasses, the search function is difficult to use, quickly finding a detour while in route is impossible without having a passenger pull it off the window and run through a menu. To top it off this one is having trouble finding itself (shows the vehicle off to the side of the highway) and it's constantly losing satellite reception. The Garmin NUVI was great, but I would NOT buy this model.

disappointed with difficulty of set up
