    Very complex system; I'm still learning how to use some features. Faults: It took me over a mile down a dead end street! I up-graded maps; it still takes me down this street.

    I updated from older nuvi model and this is a great upgrade.i was debating in between this or bigger screen and I don't think it's necessary to get the bigger screen. I'd recommend it

    Bought b/c of sales person's recommendation. After 5 weeks, car charger died. When it does work via USB charger,it randomly changes to different displays on its own. Often thinks I am on a parallel road instead of the one I'm on & no way to convince it otherwise.

    Had this for just over a month otherwise I would return it. It takes forever to "Acquire Satellites" and then it frequently drops the signal. The voice commands feature never understands what I ask it to find. I have an older Garmin which works very well which is why I purchased this unit. I am going to call Garmin Support to complain and see what they will do. I want a NEW unit which I hope will work as advertised.

    Good GPS with nice features but not efficient

    This GPS has nice features, like speed camera locations, but it does not give the quickest route when compared to my iPhone navigator

    I have too many problem with the navigation , because it changed the routs suddenly and make too many mistakes during my drive

    The screen is starting to freeze and lock up and it's only 1 year old. Garmin used to be the best, now not so much.

    I replaced an older Garmin which did not rely on cell data. This a draw back on newer systems if you don't have unlimited data.

Vehicle power cables with built-in traffic receivers are available for purchase as optional accessories for your device, should you prefer to use this method over the default traffic solution. A GTM 36 cable, which offers standard Garmin traffic, can be found with part number 010-01009-02. A GTM 60, which provides HD Digital Traffic, can be found with part number 010-01031-00.     The device failed after a couple of months and will no longer charge or turn on. I was surprised because this was my third Garmin. I reverted back to an older one and I guess I am out the money for this one.

    Big disappointment

    The reviews were good and Tom Tom is supposed to be good. I got it home and had to update the unit, but when I went to the Tom Tom website, the unit was not even in the drop down box. This made updating impossible. I contacted Tom Tom support, but by the time they got back to me, I had returned the unit to try a Garmin. This may be a great unit, but I will never know.

    Not great, returned it within a week or so as the blue tooth downloaded from my phone and not - as previous models had - on its own. Coupled with the fact that although the Best Buy reps were very nice and very polite, they knew less about GPS models and systems than I did - which wasn't very much at all! Waste of time, money and am back to using my phone. Bleh.

    Very poor, unable to register, unable to get maps updates which are included. Tried to register thru the device, their was no underscore button so I was unable to put my e-mail address in. Went on one trip, afterwords when I tried to turn back on, nothing. The Garmin Drive Smart 51 LMTS , wouldn't turn on. Had it less than a week.

    Odd, long routs. Returned.

    This GPS gave me some odd routs and made me late. I decided to compare it side by side with my phone maps and it was giving me routs 10 minutes later than my normal routs I take through my phone. I updated the maps and still had the same problem. I had it correctly connected to my phone for live traffic.

      It sounds like your device had not yet acquired a signal from the satellites. If your device is trying to acquire satellites for the first time, it may take longer than normal to establish an initial position. If the device is powered on and outdoors with a clear view of the sky, this should not take more than 3-5 minutes.

    Could not connect with smart phone

    The mapping was very slow and the traffic part of the GPS did not like working. My 4 year old NUVI was just as fast and more accurate with traffic. It feels inexpensive and looks it.

    out of the box experience was disappointing.

    Device was not found by my MAC. Frustrating start-up experience. After multiple attempts, could not get device to work. Online help did not help. Reviews online show my experience not unusual.

    This is my 4th GPS. Speed is good in calculating but it seems to take me out of the way to get where I am going, does not use the most direct route. Use Waze on my phone instead.

    I have considerable experience using navigational equipment...can even use a sextant. This device has difficulty finding its location and planning routes. Went back to my I phone.
