Customers are saying

Customers find value in the DriveSmart 61 LMT-S's large screen size, ease of use, and accurate GPS navigation, frequently praising its voice command functionality and free lifetime map updates. However, some users express concerns regarding the device's limited battery life and the effectiveness of its traffic features. The navigation system, while generally well-received, has received some criticism for occasionally suggesting less-than-optimal routes. Overall, the positive feedback on key features outweighs the negative comments.

Does the job of taking driver from point A to point B. In terms of considering traffic conditions, weather conditions, and other considerations that affect time and detours , it disappoints.

To use the apps that contain that GPS you have to pay a rate and sometimes monthly rates. If you do not pay to use those applications then my best advice is to not spend money. They can use the normal GPS like any other. Better understand one cheaper and they will come out better.

The amount of cellular data used by Smartphone Link traffic services is generally minimal, but it does vary depending on a variety of factors such as: Time used and amount of reported traffic information. 2MB of data per hour of active use with an automotive device is a reasonable estimate for data usage, in most situations. This is my biggest regret of all electronics purchased in my life. This Garmin is junk, total waste of money. This thing sends me miles and hours out of the way. Use your google maps. Garmin technology is antiquated. They will be bankrupt before you know it.

Purchased the Garmin DriveSmart 61 for work. Died while driving in Mexico. Luckily I had phone reception and I purchased the 3 year warranty. My last Garmin lasted 12 months. Don’t expect reliability from Garmin.

This was a royal mess,....not very user friendly, updates were a drag and thought this might be great for my partner who will be driving a lot and needed a more visible GPS technology on the dash. WRONG, this product did not cut it.

This GPS is of very poor quality. Sometimes it fails to operate as it should. Years ago Garmin had high quality systems but that has changed, sad to say.

It sounds like the device needs to be updated. While the GPS is ready to use out of the box, we would suggest checking for any software updates that may have been made available while the device was in transit and on the retailer’s shelf. This model includes built-in Wi-Fi for easy map and software updates without a computer. My Garmin GPS will not power up using the power button. Sometimes it will power on by itself when the vehicle power cord is attached. Now I cannot get it to power on either connected to the vehicle or not.

Based on your description, it may need a soft reset. To power the device ON with a soft reset: Connect the device to a power source and then press and hold the power button/power switch in the on position for 8-10 seconds. When a device won’t power on a soft reset often resolves the issue. Connect the device to the vehicle power cable, or an AC adapter. Press and hold the power button for 10 to 15 seconds. Once the device powers on fully charge the battery. Garmin

Traveling east coast US and Canada for 7-8 months yearly for last 7 years I owed all GPS. Last one Garmin Nuvi 3597 LM which was top of the line model. First thing I like to warn people, there is two options for live traffic. First that come with GPS is conect your phone and from there you can access traffic. This may be great option for some folks. But if you prefer conect your phone to BT device as I do a lot my Bose BT you are out of luck unless you buy additional cable that cost 100$ extra. So to enjoy this GPS you will need spend 100$ Or if you already have Garmin cable as i do from Nuvi 3597 you can use it. BUT if you decide to do that will be worth the money. This GPS is much much better in any aspect comparing to my Nuvi 3597. Screen is gorgeous, POI is much improved and most importantly traffic update is just amazing I took trip to DC with GPS and can't complain about anything.... I don't use voice command as you can notice English is my second language. On the end build is cheaper than my 3597 and miss conection from 3597 much better in my opinion. With 61 LMT is plastic very cheap. But screen and ability to browse through map, POI, Live Traffic that work great are enough for me to keep this GPS. I didn't go through every detail about GPS every person has diferent preferences and like and dislike about item. I know one thing when I get lost and GPS brings me to my Hotel or destination I don't care which way is went :-) All I know I am at destination..... That is why I think every GPS deserve at least 3 stars...
