Customers are saying
Customers find value in the DriveSmart 61 LMT-S's large screen size, ease of use, and accurate GPS navigation, frequently praising its voice command functionality and free lifetime map updates. However, some users express concerns regarding the device's limited battery life and the effectiveness of its traffic features. The navigation system, while generally well-received, has received some criticism for occasionally suggesting less-than-optimal routes. Overall, the positive feedback on key features outweighs the negative comments.

Posted .While the GPS is ready to use out of the box, we suggest checking for map and software updates that were released while the device was in transit and on the retailer’s shelf. This model includes Built-in Wi-Fi® for easy map and software updates. This Garmin article walks through the entire process:  https://bit.ly/3eWild7

Better Than Most Factory Installed Units
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I've had GPS navigation in all of my vehicles since 2004. A few weeks ago I purchased a small car to use for simple service and sales calls to save on fuel and excessive mileage on my diesel pickup. This unit is by far one of the best that I have ever used. The display is incredible and very easy to see. Voice Commands work very well and it is nice to be able to use it without using my hands. The first thing I did upon opening the box was to set up Wi-Fi and check for updates. Software and maps were available so I let it install them which took a little less than 15 minutes even though it estimated 2.5 hours. The unit has Bluetooth although I will never have a need for it since my vehicle has it already built in. I did try it just out just to see how it worked and it easily connected and downloaded my phone contacts. The unit is traffic capable and I will most likely purchase the Garmin traffic power cord in the future. One other thing I have noticed is that this unit is quick to respond to commands. My previous Garmin was not even in the same class as this model. It is pretty obvious Garmin packed in some decent hardware when building this GPS!

Jack
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The size of this makes it easy for those of us that need big letters to read or see things easier. I have noticed a couple of glitches in the travel routing, failing to identify and notify me of closed roads(these were a few major roads), Other than the poor battery that Garmin uses I really like this unit. I like the fact that you can update it via WIFI or plug it into your computer. I also like the program from Garmin that you can download(to your PC), plan a trip route and then up load it to your GPS.

Awesome Portable GPS
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Bought the 60 lmt which I thought was great and then discovered the new 61 LMT-S 6.95" which has bigger screen and WIFi, Trip advisor, Smart phone link and many other nice features. I returned the 60LMT and traded it for this new model and well worth taking it back for exchange which was so easy to do at Best Buy. You would be silly not to exchange or buy this model.

Better than my old one.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I had a Garmin Navi for about 12 years, but it finally died. I plan to buy a new Honda at the end of the year, but it costs $1,000 more for a Garmin navigator and more big bucks for updates. So this purchase was a no brainer! The new version of the Garmin has many more useful features, but it gets a zero for ease of use, because it. has virtually no artificial intelligence.Just watch demos on you tube and see guys screaming at it trying to give voice commands. You might as well scream at a dictionary and expect it to respond with the definition of a word. The manual which you have to download from the internet and print is better than most companies with multiple products, but still far from perfect. nevertheless I would recommend this product on the basis of value or the money, with the caveat that to get the most value be ready to spend a lot of time learning how to use all its neat features. The rule is simple: The more features a product has, the more the producer will have to spend on ease of use.

GPS has come a long way
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I've been away from stand alone GPS units for about 3 years. Wow, what a change. It's now Smart GPS! This is by far the best unit I've ever used and I've used many. I've been using my cell phone the last 3 yrs. I got tired of not being able to view directions when I got a call. This unit still views the map while taking a call. Just too many perks to mention. It updates without connecting to a laptop, gives you the weather with the option to get satellite radar. No longer am I having to struggle trying to read what's on the screen. Some have had problems... I don't know how you can knock this product.

Usable, but only that.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Assumed I was buying new product, but package was bulging like poorly repacked and screen protector had so much lint on it that it fell off when I picked up the unit. After a complete charge (numerous complete charges) unit will drain battery in less than 10 minutes (each time). Claims lifetime updates to map and traffic. That said, it takes you where you want to go. I would have appreciated being informed it might be re-conditioned.

A dismal failure - Garmin got me lost in Tijuana
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This Garmin GPS was a dismal failure for me. This was my 4th Garmin GPS. I bought it because I was taking a trip to Tijuana, Mexico and needed the North America Map. First, I had 2 places I needed to go. The first was a street address, and Garmin directed me to a location more than a mile from where it was. Then I tried to enter the intersection, and couldn't find a way to enter an intersection. Next, I had to get back to the US border using the Fast Lane. I couldn't find any way to enter this location. Both of these tasks, Google Maps did easily and correctly. In addition, the gps chose a wrong home location for me, and I couldn't find any way to correct a wrong home location. Then in the US, there were several places I needed to go, and Garmin did not have these stores in their data base. I have no ideal what happened to Garmin; they used to be a reliable and very good GPS. Two other faults with this GPS: If you want to use the traffic option, you need to buy an addition $70 power cord; if you want to use it on AC power for easy trip programming, you need to buy an additional $30 AC Power Cord. So the cost is actually $100 more than advertised. I'm sending it back!

Bluetooth calls impossible to hear. Strange routes
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I finally updated after having to travel to areas that enforce hands-free driving. The screen is beautiful, large and easy to see. Voice recognition for voice commands and wi-fi map updating are fantastic, no need for a computer. However, while navigation command volume is fine, bluetooth phone calls are barely audible. Had to go back to using Garmin 1490 or dedicated Jabra earpiece for phone calls while driving. To benefit from Traffic you need to purchase dedicated traffic charging cable not included with unit or pair it to your phone. Tthe routes it offers are strange and take longer than the ones the Garmin 1490 offered. Returned unit and might try another unit to see if I just got a lemon. If you do not need bluetooth for phone calls, then this is a beautiful, easy to see, unit.

Old GPS was more bang for buck
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I hope to get 5+ years out of this GPS. I had a older Tom Tom that had maps and traffic updates for free, but sadly the maps are not larger than it internal memory allows. I wish I read others reviews about the traffic receiver part and use of the app, I dont like running apps on my limited data plan. the cable sounds like it should of came with the unit but if it only works in city type areas wont help me in the rural parts i travel to a lot. I see that a lot of garmin response seem to be the stock auto replies from some of the reviews. I may be forced to return this unit and get another tom-tom since the last one worked great for me, until the limited memory issue showed up as i dont need Bluetooth or WiFi in a GPS since it built into my truck stereo. I need and prefer directions and traffic info to help possible avoid some delays when dealing with the emergencies I respond to in my free time for animal care.
