Customers are saying
Customers find value in the DriveSmart 61 LMT-S's large screen size, ease of use, and accurate GPS navigation, frequently praising its voice command functionality and free lifetime map updates. However, some users express concerns regarding the device's limited battery life and the effectiveness of its traffic features. The navigation system, while generally well-received, has received some criticism for occasionally suggesting less-than-optimal routes. Overall, the positive feedback on key features outweighs the negative comments.

Great Device
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. Finally got my sister to try this (I bought it for her). Large screen to she can see the map clearly, and I like the fact that she can answer her phone through it. I'll worry about her a lot less when she's on the road now.

Prefect replacement for my out of date system
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I got my first Garmin GPS when I was 18. I liked it but knew after 15 years it was time to update. Since I live just a 20 minutes drive from Quebec border I figured it is was good to get a GPS that works for both the U.S. and Canada. When I seen this I got excited about the lane assist (exits near Montreal are confusing). Voice control means I don't touch the screen while driving. I actually only touch the screen for the agreement screen. Being able to connect my phone to it for Bluetooth means no tickets for cell phone for me. My only small complaint is to end the call I have to use my cellphone. I am so happy with my upgrade.

Dash Cam
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I upgraded to this camera for the DashCam. During the 1st trip I encountered some harassment (while driving). when I got to a point that I could save the video, that segment was 'Gone". any information will be appreciated. I have made attempts to retrieve info from the Web, with no positive results.

Posted .I’m sorry about the confusion. This model does not include a dash cam. The only model available with the built in dash cam is the DriveAssist 51 LMT-S. Thanks, James

First gps
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Easy to setup on computer. Not happy with this gps. Sometimes when you put in address this gps doesn't find address. And may take you to wrong address. And when you google same address directions and time of arrival don't match on phone and gps. I do like the pictures on side showing roads and exits coming up. I am not entirely happy with this device I would buy a different one next time.

Disappointing Shortcomings
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. Is not designed to charge via USB connected to computer. You either have to plug it into car cord/charger or purchase a separate A/C adapter wall plug to USB cord. That is absolutely ridiculous. How many electronic devices do you own that won't charge off your computer via USB? Also, unit must be paired with Smartphone w/app or separately purchased power/traffic cord to take advantage of traffic feature. If Garmin is going to design this unit to need a "special" cord for traffic feature without smartphone then it should be included with the unit when purchased....otherwise, why not just use a smartphone with a traffic app and not bother to purchase this GPS to begin with?

Disapointed
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have had 3 previous garmin gps in the past this is my least favorite. I don,t think the graffics are as good as previous models. Really not much different than my previous model. Also I know this is a drive smart gps,but at this price I feel the option for walk directions would be a nice touch.i did email garmin over 2 weeks ago about this no reply.may be my last garmin.they could at least have replied.

Look at other GPS units
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Voice command is terrible. When you request information, it gives you everything but what you ask for. Have reinstalled voice language four times. It does not get any better. In fact it has gotten worse. I have finally quit trying to use it. Battery does not last long at all!!!!!

former Garmin fan
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I was a Garmin fan for many many years. I wanted to like this large screen version. Pros: Fit great on bean bag holder from last Garmin Large screen Cons: Screen to big to fit in glove compartment Voice command stopped working after 3 months Couldn't find many address through voice command Directions through the app were often wrong Tiresome to frequently lug from car to update on computer I tried re-installing, factory reset and other suggestions found online. Bye Bye Garmin From. Former raving fan

Bad Voice Recognition Consistency
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Voice recognition is truly frustrating on this device. Some days the simplest commands are ignored or misinterpreted. I have been very tempted to throw it out the window many many times ! It may still happen. So disappoint they can't just integrate with google maps completely and let you plan you trips anywhere. Frustrating bluetooth / wifi interface for planning on other devices on top of the fact the thing doesn't understand English half of the time.

The simple got complicated
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Did you ever buy a device and think you paid full price but were in actuality a beta tester. That describes my feelings about this device. I’ve been used to getting into the car and my Garmin just does its job. Not this one. It needs to be synced with your smart phone for traffic to work and if you want full weather and live traffic you need to pay a separate subscription fee, I think yearly. (Every time I click on the link for details the web page can’t be found so I don’t know for sure.) The link to the smart phone keeps coming and going and as I sat in traffic the map showed red for congestion but then would disappear only to reappear 10 seconds later. Traffic took at least 5 minutes to show up in the first place after booting the device when starting the car. I updated the maps when I bought it but there were no construction updates for the lane changes on a nearby highway. It showed me driving in a lake at one point. (I think you need to pay extra for the correction.) Garmin is destroying itself.

Posted .Thank you for your feedback. Garmin Smartphone Link is a free app that provides basic weather and live traffic at no cost. Advanced weather can be purchased through the Smartphone Link app for a one-time purchase of $4.99. This Garmin FAQ provides helpful Live Traffic troubleshooting tips: https://bit.ly/2JcMVms

Camera is not as written on packaging.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I own this item and a back up camera and the cord does not allow you to use a back up camera and traffic as back up camera packaging displays. You must purchase an app. according to what is online. I did down load the recommended app but it still would not allow usage of my back up camera and traffic. The app did download for free.

Posted .Sorry about the confusion. The BC 30 receiver/power cable is designed to maintain the GPS device’s original traffic subscription, in this case the DriveSmart 61 LMT-S includes the Smartphone Link traffic.

Falls short of expectations
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.1) Worst voice recognition ever 100% useless. 2) Will not do traffic without a cell phone. I specifically asked about the need for a cable, because of what I had read in other reviews and was told that was only for people who broke the included power cable. turns out that is not true at all. The packing is also very misleading at least Tom Tom packing clearly states that it requires a cell phone connection for traffic. 3) Struggles to find satellites in parking garage, perhaps is to be expected if not for the fact that I have used other much cheaper and older units that actually work very well in the same garage.

Posted .Thank you for your feedback. Out of the box, yes, the Garmin Smartphone link using your smartphone’s data connection is required to receive traffic. If you don’t have a smartphone, a Garmin GTM 36™ or GTM 60™ will be needed to access the traffic feature. Here are some helpful Voice Command Tips; https://bit.ly/2MCblYo

Horrible software and support
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Garmin has had issues with their devices communicating via usb ports on computers for many years. They haven't solved it and this one is proof of that. Their own software can't find the device (my computer knows it's there). This unit often takes up to 5 min to acquire satellites and I am in the coastal plain - open country.
