After producing GPS's this long, customers shouldn't have to put up with all these connection cable issues while trying to download updates and charge the GPS. Messages always say USB cable not recognized when using Garmin provided USB cable to charge from computer and similar message with car charger. 6i GPS not worth aggravation.

The 'next' button is greyed out, which means there's no way to get to 'save', which means there's no way to actually use this infuriating little toadstool. And this is after spending 3 hours updating to latest software - which most definitely finished, so a complete update was installed. Would love to charge Garmin for time spent on this worthless brick. Dialog box pops up when USB plugged in to warn that this won't charge device. What? Is there a hand crank I'm supposed to use?

The touch screen was great, the voice command was ok but needs to be improved, looking up business was great but, the route directions was not trust worthy, it took me way out of the way to the point I thought I was lost. My old Garmin 1450 that I have had for a long time and is still working is more trust worthy. I tried a second Garmin 61, it seems to be ok to the point I purchased a hard case for it. I went to the local electronic store and purchased a AC wall charger for it and on the way home I had the Garmin 61 on and the screen started flickering on and off for about a mile and would not stop, finally I had to turn it off. I had this one for 13 days and had only two more day of the 15 day return time. with only two more days left I did not have enough time left to test this one out to see if this flickering of the screen would return. I really, really liked the Garmin 61 and Best Buy offered to let me get a third one to try out and I almost took them up on it. I was embarrassed enough in return the second one and if the third one had problems and had to return it, I would have felt even worse. If Garmin comes out with something more trust worthy I would surely give it a try. I like my old 1450 model but it is out dated and the screen is not very bright. Thanks Best Buy for offering to let me try a third one.

While the GPS is ready to use out of the box, we would suggest checking for any map and software updates that may have been made available while the device was in transit and on the retailer’s shelf. Unfortunately outside of DC it kept telling me to get into the center speed lanes which requires some sort of a local sticker to pay the toll. Unfortunately these lanes were closed also and was quite an annoying to be continuously told take immediate left every minute The unit worked well but to avoid the foregoing problem you need to tell it to avoid toll roads. Tough to change the programing on a busy interstate and driving alone.
