Customers find value in the DriveSmart 61 LMT-S's large screen size, ease of use, and accurate GPS navigation, frequently praising its voice command functionality and free lifetime map updates. However, some users express concerns regarding the device's limited battery life and the effectiveness of its traffic features. The navigation system, while generally well-received, has received some criticism for occasionally suggesting less-than-optimal routes. Overall, the positive feedback on key features outweighs the negative comments.

Big beautiful screen with a touch sensitive screen. The touch on this screen has greatly improved over old models which lacked sensitivity. This unit also has bluetooth so if you have an older car that is not bluetooth capable you can pair your phone with this GPS and use this unit for hands-free cellular mic/speaker. The voice recognition has also substantially improved and you can talk it through some fairly complicated searches without ever touching the unit. A huge improvement over older models. Lifetime free map updates via wifi/bluetooth also a nice touch.

The voice command is okay. Sometimes it fails to hear when me when I say voice command and must use the touchscreen. I have raise my voice at it so it understands. Othewise I like it. Much easier to us then my previous Garmin LM50. I love the fact I can talk to it. It is much easier to find locations.

I use this gps everyday and wanted to wait because of other Best Buy reviews I went on and decided to purchase it anyway and I sure am glad I did. This makes my driving job so much easier and I have had a month and it hasn't sent me the wrong way yet!

the GPS is large which is easier to see, but alittle distracting because it blocks more of the front window. it has many good features. The machine tells you what lane to be in for the best exit on highways. screen splits and gives a more realist view of the road, voice control is a nice feature for trying to find places of interest. very up to date and useful

After much research I settled on this garmin as had a garmin before. Dont regret it.
Really like the voice command for directions although sometimes it does not understand me often gives me several options.
My phone connects automatically so it is easy to talk while driving if neccessary.
Like all of them it occassionally takes the long way around or can't find an address but I do need to update it which is free. Warns me of school zones etc.

I've had experience with Garmin GPS' before but even if you haven't you won't have any problems picking it up fast. The GPS has a nice huge screen, full color and nice picture quality. All the bells and whistles are great. I bought it for work and it's done great. I especially love the "optimize" option. Just plug in the addresses and let the GPS figure the route. The Wi-Fi initial setup and updates are a snap. Just log on to Wi-Fi and push update. No wires or desktops needed. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars was because it had no carrying case. No problem though, many to chose from on Amazon. Overall, great product and hasn't let me down.

We are talking HUGE improvements from the early Garmin GPS! The larger screen allows the unit to display a split screen detailing the turns, or exit you are approaching, it even tells you what lane to be in on the highway. The actual road signs are pictured on the unit so there is little confusion where you must turn or exit! It connects with your smart phone with a free app, to detail traffic ahead, and can display traffic cameras ahead. It can be used voice activated, and can sync with your address book, and make and display phone calls and texts. I recently had to travel alone to a destination I had never been to, 9 hours away from home. This thing was an incredible asset and companion! I never made one wrong turn! It even suggested alternate routes to avoid traffic, and save time! Bravo!

It really is the best gps I have ever had. Better than the last one I had easy to use and I love the fact it has the Bluetooth that I can set my phone up with hands free cause I drive Tow truck all day and I don’t have to stop to make phone calls and can answer the phone while I’m still driving.

My wife uses her GPS daily with several stops per day. She gets a new one about once a year. She's used TomTom and Garmin with TomTom being her last one. She said this is the best one she's had to date so that must count for something.

Bought this for my older SUV and It works as well if not better in many instances than the unit built into my new and MORE expensive car. Super intuitive and the screen is not subject to sunglare like older models.

The display is sharper without the harsh glare. The voice recognition it's much better than previous models. The only thing I don't like is when you manually type in an address it takes a long time to locate it as opposed to using voice recognition.

I'm not a fan of built-ins, so when I got my Jeep Wrangler Unlimited a couple of years ago, I opted to stay with the basic non-nav entertainment system. Since then I had been using a combination of Apple Maps and Waze, but when you start venturing into unconnected territory, Apple Maps is useless, Waze and Google Maps have generic base maps unless I think ahead and download the maps ahead of time. Unfortunately, when you're in a hotel with really crappy wifi and flip-flopping 2G/3G/4G wireless connectivity, that goal is impossible to accomplish. In comes DriveSmart 61 - with detailed maps and pre-loaded destinations, I don't need to worry about having any sort of connectivity to navigate the back roads of Arizona. Because it has built in wifi connectivity, I can get maps and destinations without plugging it into a computer to update. As an added bonus, when tethered to your smartphone running the Garmin smartphone link, I can get real time weather and traffic alerts and re-routing.
The only complaint I have is with Bluetooth tethering - my Jeep sometimes goes crazy when answering calls using uConnect - with the GPS unit trying to take control of the call... sometimes. When it does, the quality of the calls are terrible.
After using it to navigate the streets of Los Angeles, and later the backroads of Arizona, I'm extremely happy with this purchase.
Note: If you decide to go with this unit, just be warned the initial map download will take a long time to complete including some firmware updates.

The large screen is awesome, Like the click sound as you touch the screen. Works as well as my other two Gramens which I have passed on to my children, Had purchased two Tom Tom units before I tried Garmm. The Garmin lasts much longer. I drive a lot, I average 30,000 moles a year and the free map upgrades are great. I will never buy a car with a built in GPS again. They charge $100 per year to update, and first time I bought the upgrade it missed local Interstate updates that were completed 3 years ago. Thanks for nothing Honda.

After studying all the Garmin Devices, I settled on the Drive 61 model. The unit is very easy to use and understand. I did print the manual from the Website and would
Recommend this action to others. It makes following along and understandings the options much more user friendly. This GPS is top quality and works according to the specifications described.

What I like:
I learned a new route to work that shaves about 3 minutes off my commute (it's the little things...)
Big screen
Better contrast at night
Voice Command
Customizable Route
What I don't like;
Why must I synch my phone for traffic? This was something that my ancient, used, Garmin was able to do without connecting my phone via Bluetooth, even without updates.
What I would love to see:
Allow users to create custom routes that can be saved
Go back to using the satellites to give me traffic updates
