Customers recognize the eTrex 10 GPS as a great value for its price point. It offers all the essential features of a GPS device at an affordable cost. While some users may find the lack of a touchscreen or heading indicator until in motion as drawbacks, many are willing to overlook these minor inconveniences given the device's budget-friendly price.

My husband wanted this for Christmas, so I ordered it for him. When we got it he was a little worried because it was so small. But he uses this while hunting and fishing, he really likes it so far.

So far, this little baby has not let me down since my purchase. Though it's not touch or won't give your heading until you start moving, for the price, it's a winner!

I have been using the Etrex gps systems put out by garmin since they were first introduced. I spend most of my time on boats in the harsh saltwater environment and the Etrex has not let me down yet. The primary reason I purchased the unit was because I needed a gps for my airboat. Since there are no charts for the everglades that cover my area I did not need an expensive chart plotter or a map feature at all. This was the best option for what I needed. I have never looked back. The new version of the Etrex 10 is very functional and has all the features of the original but is more compact and includes some more user friendly options like the on screen keyboard and toggle button. Although it is not touch screen this feature has made naming waypoints much easier. On the old unit and even some of the newer units it takes forever to get to the letter or number you want when naming or numbering waypoints. Not anymore. If you need a functional unit that fits in to any budget this is the one for you.
All of that being said I do have to tell you about some of the drawbacks that come with a low priced unit.
- If you make sharp or quick turns the unit will get confused temporarily and not be able to tell you which direction you need to go. Although this is just temporary it can be annoying but the unit normally fixes itself after a few brief moments.
- The screen on the unit will start to fail and become unreadable after about 6 years depending upon how much the unit is used. Again I use this unit all the time and it is subjected to a very tough and corrosive salt environment so that is a factor when it comes to durability.
This is my honest opinion and review of this product take it for what you will.

GPS. NO MAPS.

Nice unit if all you want to do is watch an arrow on a blank screen. but for a meer 129 dollars you can make your gps unit useable. Seems like a rip off that a gps unit would not have maps on it. well there is an outline of my state. not really all that valuable...don't buy it. Other brands sell useable units with maps.. come on Garmin don't treat your customers this way
