I’ve been using the Garmin Forerunner 165 for about two months now, and overall, I’m really impressed. I’m mainly a recreational runner (5Ks and occasional 10Ks), but I also wanted a watch that could track daily activity and workouts without being overly bulky or complicated

This replaced a five year old Apple watch. I wanted something that would sync with my Strava, etc. for bike riding as well as hiking, yoga, weight lifting and sleep monitoring.
This watch fits the bill.
I've no complaints at all. It is a very nice device.

In the second week of using it, the screen went black. After browsing a bit, I saw that it was normal — you just have to restart it. Despite this, it’s an excellent watch for the price.

This product is exceptional for those looking for a quality catch all fitness tracker. The activity selection includes a variety to chose from. Running, walking, cycling, bike riding, hiking and more. The Connect app has many features including beginner running programs.
The cons. Depending on the location the gps is not as accurate when hiking. I hiked with another Garmin user (they have a Garmin fenix 7) the difference in distance was about 0.25-0.3 miles. Garmin recommends waiting a moment after starting the exercise to allow the GPS to establish. This doesn’t always work but when it does, the accuracy drops to about <0.1.
The strength training recording is severely flawed. You can select to auto recognize exercises and reps however it’s typically inaccurate and can’t recognize a number of movements. When it can’t recognize movements it takes a guess which is more times than one incorrect. Even after disabling auto recognition there are still issues with logging exercises.
Not a huge dealbreaker but battery life drastically decreases when Pulse Ox is enabled for maximum recoding intervals.
Overall this has been a game changer in my fitness journey. Other features such as VO2 max and fitness age data, sleep recording and compatibility with My Fitness Pal calorie tracker are a plus.

The watch itself is great. Very responsive and bright colors in all lighting. I have larger wrist and the length of the band isnt as long as my old instance. I alsk dont like the 20mm wide band but coydlnt justify slending an extra $150 for the 265 just to have a little wider band. Overall, this watch does what i need it to.
