Seriously this Garmin is amazing. I bought it with money earned from a laptop purchase while it was on sale and wasn’t expecting much but wow was I blown away. Super easy to connect with the Garmin app (I have an iPhone) and it only took about 20 minutes to get to a full charge. Using for the first time in day to day activities today and am really excited! I used to own an Apple Watch but after I used it for a couple of months it started to really lag and not catch when I was working out. This Garmin sends notifications, has do not disturb enabled when I have it set on my phone, and automatically catches every workout. Seriously. So. Impressed. Also I have a bigger wrist (to the point I was worried I wouldn’t have enough room to space with the sizer) and it fits like a charm!

I love Garmin Select app that supports the fitness watch. The watch options are relatively basic but work well for my use. I have an iPhone so the notifications for certain functions are limited to the Android operating devices ie., I cant answer the phone when notifications indicate a call is coming in. The platform doesn’t allow for multiple functions simultaneously ie., I can’t check the weather without ending/saving my current activity. But works well at tracking my calories burned, steps, heart rate and high intensity workouts! And it’s easy to set up and operate.

I thought this watch was awesome and was going to be great. It functions fine for now but shortly after getting it, like a few days, my screen developed a dot that’s yellowish in color and it has just continued to grow and I’ve only had it for about a month. By the time I noticed it, it was past the 14 day return time frame. Super bummed.

The watch is comfortable. Very light and I don't notice it's there. Having said that, I didn't want a watch, I was replacing a Fitbit One, a clip device. However, there aren't any clip on devices available anymore that do more than just count steps. The GPS seems to be fairly accurate, based on prior measurements of my usual routes via phone apps and my previous tracker device. It takes a few moments to acquire GPS outdoors. I haven't been indoors to determine accuracy of indoor steps/distance. It does not appear that this device adds a lot of steps due to wrist movement. I wore a pedometer for awhile while wearing the Forerunner 35, and the pedometer actually recorded more steps. Thus I don't believe over counting steps is a factor unless you might have extreme wrist movements. As for the heart rate tracking. From what I've read about all wrist trackers in general, heart measurement from wrist trackers is more of an approximation than actual tracking. For workouts, I wear a chest strap heart rate monitor. I've compared the chest strap results to the Forerunner 35. At any given time, the Forerunner can be higher/lower or even the same. In a constant walk/jog, they're pretty close to the same. The average BPM for the Forerunner usually comes within 2 or 3 BPM of the chest strap. But at any given moment, they can be way off. The Forerunner usually has higher highs and lower lows in measuring the heart rate. When not in a constant mode, I find the hear rate measurement to be all over the place. When you press the button, you get an initial reading, but it quickly changes...many times dramatically. If you realize the heart rate tracking is a general guide and not "actual", it is OK. But if you want accurate BPM, use a chest strap. From reading reviews, other watches that have more LED lights for measuring hear rate might be more accurate. This one has 3, some other watches have 6. Overall, I'm satisfied with the device. Will be interested when winter comes and I move indoors for walking/jogging to see how distance is measured. Also, if you wear it while mowing lawn, or other activities where your arms are still, you might have to set it for indoor mode.

I'm a runner of more than 45 years and didn't think I needed gadgets to tell me how slow and old I am. But I finally broke down to get this GPS/heart rate monitor watch. I got it more for the HR aspect because my goal these days is burning ketones and general fitness through the Meffetone ( method of 180 bpm minus your age (go to philmaffetone.com for more info). For me, that means keeping the HR around 120 (125 if you give yourself an extra five for being relatively fit). Tracking your own HR the old school way of stopping and taking your own pulse isn't practical. And although the chest strap monitors are usually more accurate than wrist-based HR monitors like this one, chest straps are a PIA and you still have to synch them with your watch. So this one being about $100 with GPS seemed a good deal. After a month or so, it's still a good deal. I will say that it tends to be a little inaccurate in the heart rate monitoring department the first half mile or so. Maybe it's like the old chest straps that need a little moisture or sweat on the skin to get a good reading. Either way, the first half mile tends to read inaccurately (too high) for me. After that, everything seems fine. You will notice that if you jump around in pace, the pace reading will also fluctuate greatly. I'm pretty sure I can't run a 4:40 mile pace any more but on some 100-meter striders, it shows that for parts of the sprint. I do like being able to come back from a run and have the phone app sych with the watch to track my weekly/monthly running and cycling, but again, that's not why I got this. I got this mostly for the HR aspect, and for that, it does a decent job. I will say that if you run or bike every day, you will be charging this watch a lot because the GPS eats the battery life big time. The continuous backlight feature (for night runs and rides) also consumes a lot of battery life. And I wish they used a more universal charging cable. This one is unique to Garmin and if you misplace it, you're going to be contacting Garmin for another one. But overall, this is a good value for your money, especially considering it has GPS and HR in one watch.

I bought this watch because I wanted something basic that would track my walks and bike rides. It works very well for that. I also like it because it has physical buttons instead of a touch screen. Even though that's older technology, I don't accidently hit the watch face and end up on a different screen. I also like the capability of pausing the timer when I'm biking and I stop at a light. When I'm done, it gives both the total time and moving time. All in all, it works very well for me. You can get watches that have much more capability and fancier watch faces but this works very well for tracking my bike rides.

I really like this Forerunner. I use it to track the miles I put in on the disc golf course or during practice. And with the built in GPS I get a map of where I've been. I also use it for my cardio workout to keep track of heart rate and heart rate zone. I found I needed an external heart rate monitor for accuracy but it connects to the forerunner easily using ANT+. The internal HRM works fine most of the time but during cardio it loses contact with my wrist. May be sweating or not tight enough. I found something I didn't know I wanted to track. Intensity Minutes. The WHO recommends 150 per week. Who knew? So I have this as another goal for good health. I've had this a month now and like using it. Plus it was on sale and it's so much more than a fitbit at the same price.

After researching for years, my husband finally decided this Forerunner 35 GPS Watch was for him. He loves it and compared it side by side with his very old Garmin watch from just after Christmas until January 15th when he finally went all out on the 35. Some things he was looking for included long battery life with fewer charges, all of the heath and fitness monitors, GPS for steps and a more readable display with the time always up. A big plus for me was it affordability.

Easy to set up and sync. It's very useful for tracking my daily activities, especially the GPS tracking, without having to carry my phone. Now I can go on walks and runs without specific plans, track my distance, and then see where I went when I get back home. The sleep tracker has also been useful to track how many hours I am getting each night, and it has been very accurate in recording my sleep and wake times.

This is my first fitness watch, just wanted a basic watch that could track my workouts and upload into Strava. I don't wear it daily, only when I work out and battery life is pretty good on it. The watch loses connection though after a day or two so you have to re-start the watch and re-sync the BT with your phone which can be annoying at times. Besides that, I like the watch

Easy to use, tracks pace/heart/distance. Got this when I was doing half-marathon training and it was very helpful. I use it all the time, the charge lasts a good amount of time, I only need to charge it once or twice a week. I've had one for about a year and still use it almost daily, my wife got one too and really likes it.

Good basic watch. The lack of a customizable interface is disappointing, but the simplicity of it does make for a longer battery life. This watch only tracks cardio activities - running, biking, etc, so won't be much good for yogis or weightlifters. The watch does a lot more than it looks like - there are submenus, and each button has a different function based on whether you hold the button down or short press it, so there can be a bit of a learning curve.

Great Exercise and Heart Rate Tracking

    |
    Posted .
    Pros mentioned:
    Accuracy, Battery, Ease of use

I spent a lot of time looking for a fitness tracker this second time. I had a few important items that were important to me: 1. Accurate Heart Rate 2. Good software 3. GPS 4. Not huge My research brought me to Garmin's Forerunner 35 and fēnix series 5. The fēnix has a substantially more complete set of tools, but it's at least 3 times the cost. So I went to Best Buy and got the Forerunner 35. I have other tools to measure different parts that this does and I can tell you it is pretty darn accurate. HR is spot on most of the time. Distance tracking while cycling is within 1/10% or better. The software is top notch and inclusive. A little bit of both the web and app to get everything, but I like each for their own use. I like that I don't need my phone to get all the capabilities, it synchs with my computer whenever I'm close enough. I have not, nor will I try the phone app. Before this I owned a higher end Fitbit and pretty much the product and the software is a toy compared to the Garmin. This is comfortable to wear all day and night. The strap does not bind, it is much more flexible than the Fitbit, and it does not slide down my wrist when riding hard on the bike. I would have to reset the Fitbit 10-20 times a ride. The Garmin, maybe once or twice, if at all. My photo shows the Garmin next to a small man's watch on my wrist. I don't have large wrists, and as such I didn't want a large fitness band. It's got good battery life, extremely readable screen, and intuitive controls. Once you get it, it's easy to use. Highly recommended!

Nice basic GPS for when my other Garmin broke (Didn't care for being dropped from 15 feet onto a concrete floor). I needed a GPS for my Time Trial I was doing the next morning, and I didn't want to spend a fortune. I mainly use it for the run portion and cardio when I am doing strength. Once I get my next GPS (probably the Forerunner 245) this will be a back up and for use on OCR and other mud runs.

    Great GPS Running Watch

    |
    Posted .

Lets start with the fact that the battery lasts forever. Ok, how about over a week. With five 45 minutes GPS runs and HR on. That is great. I have another watch that lasts 2 days at best. The watch is fully visible in the direct sun. It is a little smart with texts. It syncs with my Samsung Note 8 without any issues and even does the mapping with a Google Earth background. Highly Recommend. Especially for High School Track and Cross Country runners. This is perfect for them to track and get better.

I love this watch for running. Unfortunately it has the only thing I want in a running watch- interval timing so it is absolutely great with that. I don't see any issues with this (3 now for the family). I don't like that I can't see my HR with the interval timer. You have to stop one to see the other (though I may be Garmin illiterate). Other than that, really great and I will buy the next one as well as my Galaxy Active 2 watch doesn't have the interval feature built in.

For just $90, I received a running watch that maps my run, measures my cadence, my speed, and heart rate. It also tracks my heart rate and movement throughout the day and records my heart rate and sleep quality each night. I use an Ant+ heart rate transmitter during workouts for HR accuracy. I'm very happy with the Forerunner 35.

The Garmin watch is great if you have low vision.

The watch has large numbers and letters which make it great as I have low vision. That was the reason I bought it but really like everything about it.
