Great item - easy to use and very accurate info. Well worth the money spent! Even told us about an accident and was very accurate in time added to our route because we decided to stay on it vs going the alternate route.

On a recent 900 mile trip I got through Indianapolis, Ind and around the other cities - got briefly lost one time and within minutes the GARMIN had me back on route - excellent product - worth every penny it cost. I get lost easily and I felt confident the whole trip - great!!

Having used a Magellan for so many years, it took a little getting used to the Garmin. It had a lot of (almost too much) information, but once I'd learned how to access just what I needed, it was very helpful. I missed the signal that sounds when you are to make the turn, but after I realized that it wasn't going to let me know I'd done the right thing, I quit waiting for it. Using such prompts as "turn at the end of the street" or "at the stop light" was very helpful, but inconsistent in its use. At one point the prescribed route actually took us 100 miles out of our way! We'll know to look at a map ahead of time to see if we agree with the directions.

Google Maps still has the best traffic and directions of any GPS. It would be great if they could build it into a standalone system. Until then, I need a standalone GPS in case somebody calls. This Garmin does OK - its spoken directions are clear, the maps are informative and the options have improved since my last Garmin, a nuvi 765. However, since it doesn't have traffic on local roads, it often recommends them thinking they'll be faster and I get stuck on them. Most of the time, I have to double-check the routes I get out of this with Google Maps. If you have one of those huge tablet phones like the iPhone 6 Plus or Galaxy Note, don't even bother with this. Get your phone a mount and use Google Maps. I like this for the larger screen, but rarely rely on it on its own merits. Still, without a phone, this always gets you there. It just won't necessarily be faster or better.

Love how the screens shot changes at my turn off so I know exactly when and where to turn. Very accurate and easy to follow. Eliminates wrong turns and long detours to get back on track.

The traffic updates work well. The software is updated frequently.

Bought for a friend to intro duce him to GPS. He's 60 and says anyone who depends on a GPS is a fool. Well, on our trip to Nova Scotia last summer, as he got us lost multiple times, he would look to me to find our way out. He refused the GPS and wants a new helmet instead. Sometimes you can't win.

I own a garmin nuvi 40 and upgrade it to nuvi 2557 this is a great gps recalculate fast, assist you on lane when to turn, says traffic condition!

This GPS was an upgrade for me and completely worth it.. The ease of use including the buttons is great. It also gives accurate traffic delays and construction issues. It also gives school speed limit warnings. Great visual and audio.

I think having a GPS is better than using a phone app. This is a more reliable alternative. I've used one overseas (Italy) and it didn't get me lost. So I purchased one when I came back to the states, and I haven't been disappointed. The only complaint is that I wish it was lighter in weight and that it came with more items in the box (example, like a carrying case or one of those dashboard holders). Either way, I highly recommend the use of a GPS -- this model fits my needs ... one of the best well spent items for the year.

I cancelled my other car GPS navigation subscription and went this Garmin unit, lifetime updates , real time traffic where available, 5 inch screen. All in all a Greta GPS unit.

I have been using Garmin GPSs for few years starting with the basic 50 series. Garmin GPSs never disappointed me. I needed new one so I decided to go for the 2557. It's still basic but including some added features. One thing that I dislike about all Garmin GPSs. It's the poor quality mount. I believe they can do much better for the default mount piece.

The GPS works excellent. It's the best for a long travel.

My husband travels all over for work and always complained that his old Garmin he was unable to find new construction. With this one he can and does not get lost.

So far great experience with this Garmin. It does exactly what it's supposed to. It is easy to use and understand. I would be lost on my business trip without it. Very thankful for its reliability on my recent trips!

For those loved ones that get lost easily, this is a perfect gift! My wife depends on this constantly since we moved to a new area. This is easy to use, gives precise directions and has many different settings.

Thi unit is easy to use and very easy to read. The display of the exits and lane changes makes it much easier to navigate to the correct traffic changes.

Good Accuracy. Took at trip to the east coast through dc area and it really helped. We were disappointed in the usefulness of the traffic option and in the end would not have spent the extra money to get it. Traffic info was not very accurate most of the time. We experienced massive backups that were not even noted amongst other traffic issues that were understated. Found the GPS itself and the maps awesome. Great for locating nearby hotels and restaurants etc with a few taps on the screen.
