      I'm sorry to hear you had a less-than-exemplary experience with your new nuvi 2589LMT. Both of the concerns you outline could be related to route and navigation settings, specifically the avoidance options. The traffic service could also have played a role if the device was set up to avoid that and it detected any kind of incident along the standard route (considering traffic as an avoidance can lengthen route recalculations). If you haven't already, I also recommend updating the device's software and mapping using Garmin Express (www.garmin.com/express) to ensure that it's not caused by a map error.
