You get what you pay for
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This GPS is relatively inexpensive and easy to use. But the voice mispronounces almost every street name. There must be a more expensive voice program out there that gets attached to more expensive GPS devices. It works fine, just sounds funny.

Great all around product
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Easy to use and just the right size. Very accurate maps with no issues though you need to set it up to your tastes (I.e. quickest route or main roads). Great to have when you don’t have a phone signal.

||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This Garmin was really easy to figure out and program, and also is a good size (big enough to see from a distance!) Would definately advise buying a Garmin!

Good, reliable navigation aid
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. You're either a fan of stand-alone GPS, or not. I am; my kids aren't. I think in this instance it's better to have a unit dedicated to a single job -- navigating me -- than using a GPS app on my phone. So, when my previous GPS went toes up, I went to Best Buy for a replacement -- needed a new unit, and quickly, as I was due to travel out of town in a day or so. I've had past experience with Garmins, and have found them to work well. Pretty good user interface, fairly intuitive. My last GPS was a Magellan, and there is just enough difference between the two that I actually had to spend some time playing with the new Garmin to relearn how to get directions -- nothing too arduous, just a little adaptation. I used the Garmin to travel in Middle Tennessee, and the directions were clear and precise: I got where I needed to go in a timely fashion with no misdirections. I've also had the opportunity to use it in San Antonio with equally positive results. Overall, a good reliable unit; very pleased with it.

This is a user friendly navigation device.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is a nice user friendly device that gets a person to the destination. One feature that I like is the split screen that appears when I am approaching a split in a highway, it shows the signs that may appear and highlights which lane you should be in on the highway. One improvement that they could work on is a easy to use trip planner that can be imported to the device from a computer that actually works.

Perfect GPS solution
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I needed a small but functional GPS device for use with my Volunteer Red Cross work to find addresses in the middle of the night after a house fire or other emergencies. This was the perfect solution. Most people might just use their cell phones but often I would need to go places that there is no cell coverage or, need to be on my phone while traveling there. This GPS unit had great reviews and has all the features one could possibly need in a modern GPS device. It comes with the cig cord and the windshield suction cup and the price (around $100 as I recall) was exactly what I needed. It is user friendly and does not lack any features that I can possibly think of. Yes, I would buy this again and I would highly recommend it for anyone. With whatever GPS device you buy, make sure you get the lifetime maps option. The first thing I did was to update the maps. This is a good choice.

good gps for the price
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Had a Garmin previosly and purchased a Tom Tom because of price and features.Had it less than 24 hours and returned the TomTom. The Garmin is much easier and quicker to use. Talked with 2 of my co-workers and recomended the Garmin and they have both purchased Garmin and very happy with their chiice.

Where am I?
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Purchased this for parent to replace a much older GPS I bought them. They needed a new map updated really bad, so this seemed like a good choice. They really like the bigger screen and how much clearer it shows and tells them which lane or lanes to be in when exiting or merging in the bigger cities like Detroit or Chicago.

Excellent. I have three.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Garmin Nuvis work great. I've had several different models. I can't compare the Garmins to other manufacturers' GPS units since its the only brand I've used, but it would be difficult to imagine one that works better for driving. The graphics are bright and clear and using it is easy and intuitive. It walks you through setting your destination. Its turn-by-turn directions during navigating are timed just right and clearly spoken. There also is text information displayed along the top and bottom of the screen with road names and exits next ahead. The model 57 also shows a photo of your highway exit sign as you get near. You should download Garmin Express software to your computer (both Mac and PC versions are available) to update the maps and device software/firmware. Garmin seems to update maps regularly which keeps your GPS accurate to physical course changes of roads. You also use Express to register your purchase with Garmin. The simple interface is easy to use. I've found that it's best to launch Garmin Express and then tell it what you want to do before plugging in your Nuvi. Nuvi 57 documentation does not mention compatibility with Garmin Base Camp software but it seems to work okay for me. I can copy and export routes and waypoints from/to my device and works as expected. My 57 LM replaces a 55 LM, which stopped working after being kept in the car for one summer and one winter. I ended up buying two more Nuvi 57 LM units for other users and their vehicles.
