Plugged it in. Had no idea where I was going in Chicago and lead me to my destination putting me in the right lanes all the way. Arrived within 2 minutes of the ETA. I was a little concerned when I headed home as it took me on a little different route for part of the way, but arrived home almost to the minute ot the ETA when I started out. (5 hours and 7 minutes)

Worked great, updated maps hit the road. Worked without a flaw.

This model is so much more user friendly than my old, old model.... If I could say it does one thing in addition to auto update on maps, it's that I'm Not interrupted on my phone (yes, bluetooth) while talking & still getting directions! Easier to set, see & navigate.

I like the fact that I get map updates forever and the monitor is bigger

This is the first garmin gps I have bought in which I am completely satisfied with. All the others had something I could complain about. Whether it was a non reactive touch screen or a muffled sounding speaker, there was always something. This one almost catches up to the tech I enjoy with other mobile devices. One feature I particularly enjoy is the predictive road names. Type a few letters and it gives you suggestions on what street you're looking for...awesome. I don't have to press hard on the numbers and letters to register, and the gps now adds a little bit of personality with the voice. Finally, it will now say," turn left at the McDonald's, or, " turn right at the ConocoPhillips gas station". Nice touch. I could go on but you get the idea. This Garmin is definitely worth the money I paid for it

The Garmin Nuvi57LM gps is easy to use for beginners and experienced users alike. It provides clear information including your speed compared to the speed limit, the time you will arrive, and what your next route is. The only negative is that it is a bit difficult to figure out how to save routes but once you do it once or twice it falls into place.

I was facing a trip to an unfamiliar area, and my son recommended the Garmin since he is now on his second model (a friend dropped the first one). I loved how easy it was to program for "my" destinations - and that first trip went really smoothly. All the notations on the screen are easy to read. For some reason I really like knowing which direction I'm headed, so the compass function is great. I'm now using the Garmin even for my usual trips around town - I get alerts when I'm getting close and no longer have to be watching for landmarks, so I'm not as distracted from actual driving.

Many more added features from previous Garmin purchased in 2011. Tells you which lanes to be in when approaching an exit. It even tells you to turn right just past a McDonalds, as an example. Love the Foursquare app incorporated into this model too. Reasonably priced.

I got this item for my roommate who is a Golf Instructor. The 5 inch screen makes it easy to see and navigate through the menus. Turn by turn directions and street names spoken out loud is the best. The key feature was the posted speed limits and speedometer and lane guidance made it the final reason for choosing Garmin.

I purchased this for my elderly father for a trip to Arizona. I tried to get the simplest one unit use, and he seemed to pick up the options on this unit very quickly. He said it worked great on his trip to AZ this winter.

It was very difficult to get the street address and city onto the Garmin. Because of the difficulty, it was very frustrating. Often it took 5 or 6 attempts to get an address into it. But I liked the feature where you can locate shopping, restaurants and fuel easily.

I got this unit to replace an older unit with a much smaller screen and less features. I love the size of the display on this unit and the improved navigation. My old GPS unit was so outdated it was nice to see the addition of rest stops, gas stations, and places to dine on the screen. I also like how the GPS goes into split-screen mode to help get you on the correct lane when driving in bigger cities. The improved text to voice is nice too, particularly how it'll use terms such as "at the next light turn right on such-and-such street." Or "at the gas station, turn left." Kind of a cool feature. And then, of course, or all the cool little icons you can download. :-)
