The 1090 (for RV’s) is very similar to the 1010 (for trucks). It does everything you expect it to do. The large screen is very easy to read and see. The unit can receive weather and traffic if you use your cell phone’s data. It displays live weather and traffic on the GPS screen. If your phone has a data limit, it might use it up. In my case, I bought the HD mount for $139 – and now I can receive unlimited weather and traffic for free (after the initial $139 purchase). The phone data method is better, but this one works just fine for me. Thanks to Garmin for making the mount available as an option. Wish list: (1) I wish Garmin would incorporate the HD antenna into the unit itself (instead of having the external mount). (2) We would like to see a camera incorporated into the unit so we don’t need to put multiple items on the windshield. (3) It would be nice to have a train delay warning, if that would be possible. P.S. In Michigan we cannot receive red lights cameras because of Michigan law.

Good with caveats about vaporware features

Very good for what it does, not happy that "hands free calling" doesn't work with voice commands. After spending a good deal of time getting this set up, downloading Garmin Drive (and subsequently Garmin Base Camp - more on that later) I was pleased at the functionality and amenities this unit provides. Two major drawbacks are that importing gpx files "really" doesn't work and voice command isn't able to handle "ok Garmin, call ___________" and after chatting with Garmin support they admitted that's not supported now but "may" be added in the future. OK, just don't advertise vaporware features. The advertised ability to download gpx files from other programs turns out to be not quite reality either - another long chat with Garmin support revealed that I COULD download gpx file from RVTripWizard into BASE CAMP and then convert individual RVTW leg into a "track" within Base Camp to upload to the GPS - and even then the GPS will ignore whatever route you've painstakingly plotted out and will instead calculate it's own route. Not awful, but certainly not integrated as advertised. Bottom line it's a darn fine unit and I believe it will easily replace my dash-mounted Android tablet that ran google and Here maps but it's not ALL what they've advertised.

Easy to configure multiple set ups – just car, just RV or even RV towing a car. Nice big display. Chose to mount to a non-skid beanbag type mount to sit on the large dash of my RV. Definitely avoids difficult routes.

Bought and used for a trip across country. Setup was simple. Asks for a lot of information on the vehicle and trailer/camper/tow-along. Most features work flawlessly. Couple of issues. Altitude graph was inaccurate at some times. Weather only updates when you're sitting still, or once every, say, 45 minutes for a tick. Traffic updates gave false information frequently. Sometimes they were accurate, but more often than not, they were not (shut down interstate with a 150 miles reroute?). Photo-live did not work. You must manually add the cameras to view them. When it enters sleep [while on battery], it will not awaken for the next turn. Must manually turn it back on to get the update. Now the positives. Satellite acquisition was quick. Security features are adjustable. The find gas feature was fantastic. Allowing for easy picking of the next station on the route without going out of the way. Neutrals. The size. It is 10 inches. Even with a modest size truck (2014 RAM 1500) it takes up quite the view. On the flip side, it made navigating easy. Touch screen handled nicely. It handles the heat of the sun beating down on it with grace. Overall opinion: Fix the few issues (some software based!) and it will be a perfect RV Garmin. Glad I purchased this product. Info: The data used from the phone app for the Garmin was minimal. Only ~75 MB for the whole trip over 6 days. Battery lasted fairly well at night when on battery mode.

Not having a instruction book with the GPS made it a bit more work than I had anticipated, but the GPS works wonderfully. I put our destination into the Garmin map app on my phone and it app sent it to the GPS. It’s a great size for the RV. Very happy with the GPS.

Great on time service from Best Buy, The GPS has an Excellent display, I have a 2020 F150 with the built in GPS. The display is nowhere near the quality of the Garmin unit. I highly recommend this GPS, and Best Buy

We bought the Garmin RV1090 for it's 10" edge to edge display screen. It was difficult for us to navigate using the tiny screens on our phone, so the 10" screen was very helpful. The RV1090 will also keep you off roads that your RV won't fit on. Once the height, weight, length and width of your rig is entered, RV1090 will route you on the best roads, avoiding any underpasses where you could potentially damage your RV.

Perfect for a trip in a large RV. Enter length, weight, height and width, and it will take you the best route. It’s great for larger vehicles because it knows where there are low tunnels or bridges that your RV may not fit under and will direct you to safe route.

I am supremely disappointed with this Garmin RV1090. Nice package, nice screen, horrific interface for information. I've owned quite a few Tom Tom GPS units and have found them quite easy to navigate and enter information - addresses!!!!. I decided to try the Garmin because of...well I just wanted to try something different and the 10" screen was pretty nice for my 70 year old eyes. I may be spoiled by the Tom toms but the Garmin in a joke. Entering new addresses out of state, having to 'save' a trip before it will tell distance and time are a pain. I don't know if I'll ever get use to this thing, but for now I hate it. Very frustrating. Yeah, I know, I'm just old and too stupid to operate this thing. It could be 100 time easier if the interface were just made to be more intuitive. Oh, and on our last 3000 mile trip, this thing locked up three times at CRITICAL intersections. Once, the little RV image drove right off the edge of the screen with no image refresh. The other times the vehicle image just stopped moving. Just great when your approaching a freeway exit in 'maybe' the wrong lane in a 43,000 lbs. bus. Great times.
