    Fits in my cabinet

    After an extensive search for a microwave that would fit in my 13.5 inch deep cabinet, this was all I came up with. Despite being deeper than my old microwave, also a GE that just stopped working after 5 years, the interior is actually smaller; last night I tried to pop a regular bag of popcorn, and it got stuck as soon as it was full size, stopped spinning, only half cooked but burnt. What kind of microwave won't even fit a full-size bag of popcorn! On top of that, this was the third (!) one we tried; the first one I picked up had no power at all, the second had the power button falling off. The power button on this one is loose and crooked, but it was the last one they had in stock. Looking for a replacement.

    Pretty but one BIG issue

    I like this MW, good size for my needs, but the glass tray bounces around because it does not fit into the slots of the center anchor well enough. A plate tips to the side, coffee cup tilts to the side, you end up with spills all because mfr is too cheap to put an adequate center tray holder. This is such an easy thing for GE to fix, but obviously they don't think it's worth it. When your food wobbles around inside I see this as a very BIG issue. Returning mine.

    We had this microwave for at least 7 months. 2 issues with it so far (as I am writing this review I am prepping it for a return), 1st issue is that the grips underneath are slippery and every time we push the open latch the microwave would slide back to the wall. The 2nd thing is the latch or button that opens the microwave doesn't do its job by popping the door open. We fight by pushing over and over to get the door to open. It is a hassle and lost our patience with it that we are returning for another one but not the same.

    I am a loyal client of Best Buy. However, when I bought this defective item from Best Buy made by GE, you simply washed your hands of the problem and told e to take this up with GE. GE customer service is worthless. I will not buy another product from GE because of how they handled this matter. I'm also reevaluating my decision of having bought from Best Buy if they are not going to stand by what they sell.

    inside paint peels

    I like the size of this microwave, and it does a good job cooking. However, after about a year, the paint on the inside begins to peel, and eventually looks bad and drops paint into anything uncovered. This is my second GE microwave, and the same thing happened on both.

    I liked everything about this microwave: price, look, size, etc.. but after a year, the latch mechanism broke. The door won't open unless you hold the button and pry the door open. I worked with GE and got a voucher for a new one , as it was within warranty. Maybe I got a dud, but I can't recommend this product.

    It is very small. Barely holds a dinner plate. No way to turn off the turntable, therefore, cannot heat anything in a pot with a handle. Door trim immediately coming unstuck (apparently only attached with a double stick type tape.) Only good for reheating food or a college student in a dorm. Should have shopped more.

    Still running but has several issues with buttons and ready bell. Granted we do use it daily but expected it to last longer.

    You are unable to fit a full size plate into this microwave. If you used it in an office it would be suffice.

    For the money it’s ok, takes awhile to heat food also the plastic is coming off the number buttons. Expected better quality from GE.

      Hello Domm - thank you for providing a review of your microwave. We're sorry to hear that it is taking a while to heat your food and that the plastic is coming off the control panel. This unit has 700 watts of power so it should heat quickly. Also, many microwaves are now packed with a plastic film applied to the outside of the door and control panel. This is similar to the film that would cover chrome trim parts to prevent scratching during shipping and is used for the same reason on the microwave. Remove the film before using the microwave. This is a static cling film that should peel off easily. If it is not the static cling plastic that peels off easily, then we recommend to exercise your one year warranty if it is still applicable and return the unit with your receipt for exchange.     There isn't a handle so you have to push to open the door. It sticks and is not easy to open.
