takes more watts than advertised

Even on the microwave itself, there is a sticker which says 700watts. But when plug into the meter to check, it takes about 900 to 1000 watts. Seems incorrect advertisement. I purchased this to save money on electric bill but it seems to be a false advertisement.

Should have returned it right away when we found that the print on the black buttons was hard to see. But didn’t (my fault). Then it turned out the buttons were too hard to work. Now, they don’t work at all. She’s only had it 8 months. It’s crap. I will try to get my money back. Purchased the two-year Geek guarantee. Don’t buy this piece of ill-designed junk!

Replaced it with a Breville of like size and wattage, 1000w. We built our house in 1993 with all GE appliances. We replaced all of them with much better appliances. In 2019 we made the same mistake but again got rid of the GE microwave in 2019 after less than a year of use.

Tried the Panasonic NN-SD372S Stainless 950W 0.8 Cu. Ft from amazon. Loved the power, but the fan cooling the inverter runs a full 60 seconds after every use which I did not like at all. Tried the LG - 0.7 Cu. Ft. Microwave - Stainless-Steel from Best Buy but it was way too loud, had black sides, and seemed kinda cheap. So, finally tried this GE microwave. Pros -- Stainless front with gray sides looks nice. -- One touch buttons. Push the 30 sec button or the 1 thru 6 numbers and the microwave starts cooking. So simple. -- When running, it is quieter than our old counter top microwave and quieter than the other two microwaves I tried. -- You can turn off the beeps!!! Since I am up early, that is a huge plus in our small house. -- The button to open the door feels solid not flimsy like some small microwaves. -- very compact. -- only $79.99 Cons -- Heats better than our old small microwave. But when I heated six ounces of water for 90 seconds, the LG water was five degrees warmer. Overall, I really like this microwave. I do not do anything fancy with my microwave, just use it to reheat food, warm up a tortilla for a wrap, or pop popcorn. This microwave meets my needs while looking nice, being relatively quiet, and taking up little space.
