Not-"Excellent" Condition
||Posted . Owned for 2 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this microwave in "Open-Box Excellent" condition. It was not in excellent condition as the interior spinner that goes underneath the plate was broken into three pieces. Thankfully I was just upgrading an old microwave that was basically the same thing, just 10 years older, and I was able to use the part from my old microwave. Otherwise is a great size for a countertop microwave.

Some Good Points-Some Bad Points
||Posted . Owned for 4 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I replaced our old GE Microwave that gave up the ghost after many, many years of daily use. I tried very hard to get as close to the same microwave as I could. I liked the old microwave’s solid material construction & the way it heated food all the way through without constantly monitoring the process. It cooked baked potatoes perfectly along with melting quesadillas cheese without overcooking or drying out. So I settled on this GE model. It was almost the same size though the old microwave had curves at the front top sides where the new one is strictly boxy. I figured the inner workings would be the same if I got the same wattage. The first thing I noticed is the tinny sound when the door closes. The old microwave had a solid close snap that sounded firm. This new model makes a tinny snap that makes me think it could do with a better grade of mechanism. The pros are the cooking panel is easy to use & is much like the one before with individual settings for popcorn, potatoes etc. as well as the numerical settings. But the buttons are more clicky than a smooth press like ye olde model. The turntable gizmo is more substantial than the past model. This one has multi prongs that wont slip or slide while turning the heavy glass plate during the cooking process. Also it’s relatively quiet more so than the older model. The cons are: I noticed a small dent towards the back, almost unnoticeable except it’s towards the bottom so when you move it for cleaning & line it back up it catches the eye. Somewhere during the shipping process, even though the box was well padded it got tapped just right to crease the metal which means it’s not as durable a metal as the older model, which explains the tinny noise when I move it around. And I mentioned the clunky sound when opening & closing the door. Cosmetically it has clean lines but I noticed right off the vents on the side are towards the front, rather than the back, which blows air to your face when checking on cooking food. It’s a little uncomfortable, which is why I noticed the vents in the first place. Also it only has two rubber pads on the bottom at the front & none on the back so when moving to clean it leaves marks on tile & the microwave rocks off balance so I had to put a furniture mover square under to balance. You might wonder why I didn’t return the microwave but honestly I really hate to return things & I needed a new one ASAP so I stuck it out. I don’t think it will last nearly as long as the twelve years the old one made it. I give it maybe 2 years just on a hunch on the mechanics of the matter. I waited a good 6 months before reviewing this GE microwave as I wanted to check cooking various foods. Quesadillas are tricky. It likes to half melt the cheese but cook the shell nicely. To totally melt the cheese, the shell gets tough so you have to babysit the quesadilla while it’s cooking to get it just right. Frozen dinners have to be carefully monitored & stirred even when the directions don’t say it or the top layer is tough, especially anything with a patty or noodles in it. And I have yet to get a pot pie to cook without either drying the heck out of it or creating a gummy crust. So do I wish I had bought a different model? Yep. But would it have been a better model? I’m not sure. So many appliances seem to be just passable these days, kind of like disposable products, not meant to last past the warranty. So I’ll be kind & say this GE microwave is passable. Neither perfect nor horrible. Meanwhile I’ll microwave up some popcorn, it does that quite well & there’s a button for that.

Nice value
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Nice size microwave with good price value. Not pleased with GE as I needed to replace the previous GE model that only lasted 4 years, but I needed to match the kitchen and existing space cutout.

Good microwave for the price
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. We had our favorite microwave (Kenmore) go out on us recently and we were so used to how convenient all of the controls were (simultaneous cook time/timer, intuitive time settings, size) so we went with this one. The one-number time default settings are a little annoying as you have to press "time cook" if you want to enter an exact time, otherwise, you're stuck with how they programmed it. When the cook-time timer expires it beeps infinitely until you open the door (very annoying). I suppose this would be a good feature if I were 97 years old and could barely hear but usually 3 beeps is enough to indicate something is done. Also, when you push "Timer" and then enter the amount of time, you have to push the "Timer" button AGAIN to start it instead of START. Not very intuitive. There may be a way to program all of these settings to make it so you don't have to endure these steps, but why should I? Though these are annoyances, they are things you can get used to with time. The microwave works very well and cooks food evenly. But if you are willing to spend more money on a more intuitive control panel out of the box, do it. It will probably save you some misery in the coming years. I think Kenmore got it right with my old microwave.

Great power and size, but needs warranty
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Need that warranty for this super powerful oven, excellent size. It seems to need to. Replaced every two years, though. This is my third because it fits a specific spot on my kitchen. This is one time that having geek squad replacement is very worth it. Advice: buy on sale, but get the BB warranty plan to take it back to the store for a new one soon. I can’t imagine having to deal with manufacturer for “repair.”

||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I ordered and after only a year and a half it stopped working. With all the great reviews, I'm hoping it was just a faulty appliance. So I'm guvijng it a 2nd chance and I purchased another one. The exact same model.

Good microwave
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This microwave is fine. It's stylish looking and works well. Easy control touch pad. One thing that could be better is the opening and closing. It doesn't seem as solid as it could be. Overall a good buy.

||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Wanted a GE microwave to match my other appliances. Not crazy about the keypad or the door hinges. Doesn't seem like it's built to last.

Average product ; Does what it is meant for
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is your regular mocrowave best used for reheating. You need to let it reheat the entire duration anything midway the food remains cold. Some of the other reviews mentioned some issues like noisy Equipment and turntable makes some sounds, I have experienced both of them. No issues with the paint yet cause it's been only a month since I bought this. I used the time cook to make chips - took a little longer than my older GE microwave. I'm not a frequent user of a microwave so this does the job pretty decently.

Powerful but noisy
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Fairly quiet the first few days of operation, but then it started making a loud vibration sound while operating, seemingly from the underneath side of the cabinet. A large folded bath towel placed undernearth the cabinet deadend the vibration sound somewhat. I like the microwave features and power, but was disappointed with the loud vibration. The cabinet’s metal body seems to be “tinny”. Perhaps this is the reason for the loud vibration. Undecided if I will keep it.

Average Microwave
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. When I needed to replace my malfunctioning microwave I tried to buy the exact same GE part number but it was not available. I have a limited space so I had to stay with a similar external size. This unit seems to be the newer version of the the one it replaced. It is not as nice. Lighter, cheaper, louder and does not have some operating features the old one had. For instance, the power level can not be changed while the unit is running. Overall this unit works fine but I am a little dissapointed with it.

Posted .Hello Kush - this is Nancy at GE Appliances. We are sorry to hear that your new microwave has less features than your previous microwave. If it appears that the plastic coating over the keypad is degrading, then please check to be sure it is not the protective keypad covering that comes on new microwaves and should be removed. If this is not the case, then we recommend contacting GE Factory Service at 1-800-432-2737 for assistance.

Easy to use
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Although this is our fourth G E microwave, due to the fact that this model only lasts a couple of years (at best), the Wife loves the ease of use. If it not for the Extended Protection Plan, I would not even consider going through the frustrating process of frequent replacement. I would not recommend this model. Just being earnestly honest. On the plus side, shipping was fast and free.
