It Does Its Job

Multiple buttons for quick heating. ie: reheat an item or bring a hot beverage back up to temperature in 1 button; cook for up to 6 minutes with 1 button. Heats very quickly. Only small negative, while it fits tall items, it's narrower than my previous 1.6 CuFt microwave. And, got a good price as Best Buy had it as an open box sale.

However, the door feels a bit flimsy and the fan is louder than expected during use.

The settings are difficult as in multiple steps to cook at a lower heat. The defrost actually cooks the food on outer edges before fully thawing. It is an okay microwave for the price.

Posted .We'd like to help out with the controls and offer tips for defrosting. We recommend checking out page 11 and 12. These sections go over how to use the defrost and additional tips for getting better results. It also goes over some of the controls an additional settings. You can view the manual by clicking on "Features", then scrolling down the page, then clicking on the link under "User Manual".
Great size and features at a good price

Chose GE's mid-size microwave which is urprisingly designed very similarly to my old one. However, the "build" is not as substantial as my old one. This one does have slightly more power and the mid-size works perfectly for my needs. Although the unit was delivered very well factory-packagaged, the small ring that goes under the round glass arrived broken. I was able to glue it together before using the microwave and after a month's use, there's been no problem. I'm satisfied with this GE mid-size microwave primarily because of good size, has 1 thru 6 minute instant-on buttons as well as 30 second button, power, and price.
