Posted .The top opening is the microwave's exhaust vent. It is there so heat, steam, and cooking fumes from your cooktop can escape properly. Your comment regarding this is important to us. We will be sure to pass this along to our product design team for review.

It send to be working well. I do like the option to turn off the turntable. I also like the "add 30 seconds" option. Surface light has two settings which I also like. The vent fan noise doesn't bother me. The unit looks nice under the cabinetry. My range is not GE but the microwave matches really well.

Wish they hadn't made the vent fan automatically turn on whenever the microwave is in use, however, I do like that the vent fan will turn on when the microwave detects too much heat/moisture from the stovetop. Overall a good OTR microwave for the money.

My last one was and when it stopped working I realized I had not used half the features on it! This is just what I needed all alone. Looks nice, quieter than my last one. Slate finish looks good in my kitchen.

Took 3 of us to get it hung on the rather obscure hanging rack. I do part time house flipping so no stranger to Home diy. It looks good, works fine but a few things could be improved. Firstly it’s SO noisy. Like airplane taking off noisy. We’ve checked the exhaust setup and it’s just a noisy unit. Secondly, it doesn’t allow minutes and seconds to be setup because once you press a number it sets off as if that’s all you want. A bit silly.otherwise it works well and that’s about it.

Beware that new microwaves are slightly "taller" than they were 15 years ago. We had to cut the tiles a bit in order to get it to fit. I hope it lasts as long as the Sharp did!

To say the least I will NEVER by Samsung again! This microwave was less than 1/2 the price and works super fast & heats thoroughly in less time then my old Samsung microwave. I was truly amazed/shocked at the quality for the price. I hope it lasts longer than my last one. My family truly did not realize how much we needed a new one until we went 2 weeks without one to make a decision on which one to get. I’m very glad we selected this one. If you make a decision to get this one you won’t be disappointed! Oh yeah, & it looks lavish!
