Extremely disappointed

We bought this freezer in February 2023 and it broke unexpectedly in June 2024. We did not damage it or expose it to any extreme temperatures.. it simply stopped working one day. Luckily, it sounded an alarm once the temp started rising, so we were able to salvage most of our food. However, I am extremely disappointed in this product. We specifically chose this freezer because it was GE…we wanted a quality freezer that would not crap out on us. And of course, we are just beyond the one-year warranty.. so this is a complete loss. I would not recommend this freezer.

Just stopped. $2000 worth of fish and steak half thawed. It was supposed to keep things frozen for at least 24 hrs if it stopped. Left for work at 7, no alarm. everything good. Return home at 5. Out. ANd its already non-returnable. A little over amonth and its shot. So, lets see if the 5 year Geek Squad actually comes through.

I had to pay to have old freezer taken away even after I stopped in the store the week before the freezer was delivered, it should have been free. After I talked to 3 other people I was to get a gift card for 1/2 of what it cost to take old freezer away and still waiting for it to come.

Great design and I like the alarm feature. The alarm worked to let me know the freezer failed at 13 months, just barely out of warranty. Cost to replace the compressor is about $1,000, more than a new one costs.

Nice to have outside temperature reading on the door. Easy to stack food on shelfs. We are a family of two and would not want a smaller size as this one stays packed.
