My new GE refrigerator, Model: GFE26JEMTFDS in Black Slate was delivered yesterday and it is so beautiful and everything is working great. It is so big and roomy. It replaced a 2003 Kenmore refrigerator that was starting to die and I needed a new one. I love this color and never had an appliance look so great. In the pictures, it looks gray, but it is black, not a glossy black but a matte black. Fingerprints disappear. Cooling is excellent in the fridge and freezer. Water tastes great, ice is working already and stored out of the way. I took out one half shelf because I needed to put larger things under it. After I get used to it, I will figure out how to utilize the space better and put it back in. There are so many possibilities. Meat, vegetable and fruit drawers are huge but you can clearly see everything. I like the french doors versus side by side doors because I can store a pizza or longer items on the continuous shelf. I was concerned about the bottom freezer since I have spine issues, but it is great and easy to access. Now I have to fill it up with lots of food!!

I’ve only had it for a couple weeks but so far it’s amazing. The black slate is such a nice color and truly is print resistant. It’s super spacious and has really nice compartments.

So far I love the refrigerator and would recommend. So glad to get rid of my Samsung which I would never recommend. Very impressed with delivery crew. They were quick and efficient and everything was in working order and they cleaned up. Would never even know they were there.

Came early just before Xmas. Easy install and ready to use 12 hours later.

I really like the Black Slate color. GE is the only manufacturer I found that has this color. This refrigerator looks good inside and out. The LED lighting brightens up the inside. It’s a little bit noisy when running, but not loud.

Love love love this fridge! It’s so spacious but almost exactly the same measurements as our old one. I have 3 littles at home and fingerprints are a little bit of a pet peeve of mine. You can’t leave a fingerprint on this fridge if you tried!!! It’s gorgeous matte black makes me want to finish the rest of my kitchen now! If I had to choose one thing about it that bothers me, you have to hold your cup close to the top when putting in ice, or it will kick ice to the floor. Not the water, only the ice.

I had an older GR refrigerator before finally deciding to get this one. Black slate looks gate and the drawers and space is exactly what I was hoping for! The handle did fall off as soon as the installers left but thankfully total tech is sending them out a few days after I called about the issue.

Better than expected it is spacious and the color is great. Lots of room on the inside. Exceeded my expectations.

We love the look and size of our new fridge but I fear it wont last long, it sounds like cheap plastic when opening and closing the freezer door

Awesome, Awesome, Awesome, I have owned this for a year now, the space is amazing, fridge works GREAT, I love the doors, ONLY COMPLAINT is the small ice maker, but I knew that when I bought it.

I love my refrigerator! I love the black slate and the freezer at the bottom! The refrigerator doors open wide and it is easy to put things inside! The door compartments could be deeper for larger bottles to fit! Aneta Gardiner

Overall, it's a good fridge so far, but there's enough small issues here and there that I would prefer a different brand. We were stuck with GE because we have to have matched appliances and GE is what the new home builder chose. My previous house, we had LG appliances and I much prefer that almost identical fridge. This GE, the doors constantly swing closed on us, the drawers do not have a good slide mechanism, so they kind of grind plastic on plastic when you pull them out. It's the same with the freezer door and sliding freezer drawer. Also, the water filler on the outside is slow. The LG was much faster. We also had it arrive with a huge scratch on one of the door handles (thanks Geek Squad for so handily getting it replaced). And the doors were also crooked, which the Geek Squad tech was nice enough to fix for us. The one thing this fridge does better than the LG is the icemaker. With the LG, the cubes would melt slightly and then refreeze together. We had to open things up and shake them loose probably once a week. I've never had to do that with this GE fridge. Overall, yes it keeps things cold and seems well organized. I just wish a few of the finishing details and the drawer slides were higher quality. Not what I would expect for a $2500 fridge.

be aware that if you are replacing a much older fridge, this one is taller by about two inches in the back, hinge height wasn't a problem. We had to adjust the cabinet box and doors, reduced the height by three inches, so the fridge would fit. Not a real problem with the appliance, just check your dimensions three times.

Nicely laid out, but...no shelf compartment for butter. Very few adjustments for door bins. Noisy ice (not the ice maker itself but after it drops a big "clunk". Ice bin small and tricky to remove. I had to add a home made spacer to left door peg (where doors come together at top) because peg is too short. Needs more than 1 disappearing shelf.
