Actual height dimensions if fitting inside a fixed window opening were different. I measured just over 13” height because the bottom frame feet extend down about 1/2” below the rest of the front frame; and it sits flat this way so rear is about the same height. If adding top rail, then about 14.25”. Minimum width for using accordion frame if desired is about 21.25”. It extends about 10” from the top rail (or feet) to the rear of the unit. The top rail is about 2” from the front and filter pulls from the left side near the very front. Top rail front portion is higher than accordion frame. Wasn’t able to install in my location and can’t comment on performance. Giving 3 stars due to installation instructions not giving precise measurements thus wasting time.

This unit is perfect for its intended use. I bought it, in case of a power outage and it is wired to an emergency generator. Unexpectedly, I had a problem with my main air conditioner and it came in handy, while the main one was being serviced.

Okay so I had this ac since late August and I installed it in September. Here we are in late January and it will not cut on. And honestly I think I ran it 2 times because I don’t really be in the room it’s in.

I recently bought this 6000 BTU a/c to replace a 5000 BTU unit that finally died. After a good bit of research I settled for the GE mainly due to reputation and good reviews. Once I had picked up the A/C from my local Best Buys, I headed home and unpacked it to get ready and install it asap because I use it in our bedroom to help me sleep. Once I got it unpacked I noticed that it was smaller and lighter than the older 5K unit. Installation was as easy as any other window unit, no real surprise there. Once I was ready I turned the unit on and once the compressor kicked in after a few seconds it began cooling very cold air (very impressed). I changed the fan speeds up/down and didn't hear a big difference if noise and not alot of difference in airflow, but it does blow adequately. It keep our room cool all night and the noise was just enough to drown out noise which helps me sleep better too.
I do have a few grips and had I know this I might have went with a different one. 1st off the remote shown on the website was a big reason I liked this unit due to the temp display shown on the remote, guess what's not on the included remote, just a basic remote. 2nd the unit defaults to the eco mode for the cooling mode so every time I want to use it the way I want I have to change this. 3rd this is the vents allow you to direct the airflow left or right, but not up/down...really.
So on the pro's side I guess is: 1st it's pretty quiet as advertised. 2nd it's smaller and lighter than the old unit and 3rd it cools better too. I hope it holds up as long as the unit it's replacing.

I recently purchased a 6000 BTU window air conditioner for a small bedroom (about 250 square feet), and I couldn’t be happier with the performance. Installation was straightforward and only took about 20–30 minutes with clear instructions and all necessary mounting hardware included.
Once up and running, the unit quickly cooled the room—even on hot, humid days in the high 80s. It’s surprisingly quiet for a window unit; I can still watch TV or sleep without being disturbed by excessive noise. The energy efficiency is another bonus—I’ve noticed only a small increase in my electric bill, even with regular use.
The remote control and digital thermostat make it easy to maintain a consistent, comfortable temperature, and the energy saver and sleep modes are thoughtful touches that help conserve power.
Overall, this air conditioner is a fantastic value. It’s perfect for anyone looking to cool a small space efficiently and comfortably. Highly recommended!

5 out of 5 stars – Excellent Cooling and Quiet Operation!
Purchased on 06/06/25 in Lebanon
I couldn’t be happier with this GE 6000 BTU window air conditioner! It was very easy to install and started working right away. It cools my room quickly and efficiently—even on those hot and humid days. One of the best features is how quiet it runs; I can keep it on during the night without it disturbing my sleep. The controls are user-friendly, and the energy-saving mode is a great bonus. Anyone looking for a reliable, affordable, and effective AC unit, this one definitely delivers. Highly recommended!

I definitely used it in a room that is much larger than it is supposed to be used for, but it kept the room chill with 2 gaming pc's running a large portion of the time. Energy costs were also not very much and installation and uninstallation when moving was easy enough. I honestly felt bad throwing it out when I moved to a place with central air so it is sitting in my closet waiting for the day when I think the central air is not being good enough! Also this is also to say that it was me and a partner in one room, so even more ambient and it still did the job!

The Air Conditioner was very easy to install, works well, isn't terribly loud, has a nice remote and a digital display, making it easy to maintain a temperature. The Eco mode is the default, which is annoying, but that's basically how all of the ACs are now. Eco mode will go like 5 degrees higher than your setting before kicking on again, which kinda blows, but it's good for keeping the room somewhat cool while you're out.

This little unit does a whole lot of cooling. Honestly it brings my room down to a chill pretty easily. I have a west facing room, on a 2nd floor, in the San Fernando Valley, 150sq ft probably. I have a gaming computer (basically a space heater), an ultrawide 34" gaming monitor, and 27" gaming monitor, all the networking stuff for the house also sits in here. It gets hot in here. This thing cools it down no problem. It is a little loud, but you eventually get used to it. Same noise as a mid grade hotel (think Comfort Inn, Holiday Inn, Marriott Springhill Suites).
The biggest issue is the thermostat sucks. Sometimes it gets cold and just keeps running making it too cold. Sometimes it gets to 85+ and it doesn't cycle. It isn't very frequent, maybe once a day. But all I do is turn it off and on again and it gets back to it.
If you're afraid of the BTU count because you had a portable AC that didn't manage to cool your room, I'll let you know I had an 8,000 BTU Portable AC that only brought my room down to 80+ on 100 degree days. Window units are significantly more efficient and this thing has performed its duties no problems. I've been sleeping with a comforter at night because it is COLD in here lol. If you build out a frame, you can put this in a horizontal sliding window BTW. I built a removable frame that fit into our window's tracks. That way when it stops being hot, this thing can just come down and stop being an eyesore from outside lol.

Small A/C that cools bedrooms, offices, and a small room fast and efficiently. This A/C makes your rooms cold quickly. The noise level is decent, still a little loud. Easy to install, should not take more than 15 minutes, and comes with simple instructions.

I have been using this for a couple of months, in an Oklahoma summer, in the master bedroom of an old house built in 1950s, to supplement the central AC system. I turn the temp down at night, and back up or off during the day while I am at work. It works well, is loud enough to provide the white noise I need to sleep. I wish the side panels were a bit longer, but that is a me issue, not a product issue. I would repurchase this model if I needed an additional one.
