Installation was very challenging, the brackets are lack luster and don't fit older cabinets well, I had to drill my own holes for mounting. The unit is defaulted to recirculating mode and no matter what the instructions say, is impossible to disable. I had to tape internally to ensure all gases were sent out the vent. The light bulbs are bright but also generate intense heat such that the area above the light burns to the touch. Changing the bulbs is an impossible task as well.

Posted .We would like to clarify some information regarding the installation process for this range hood. Almost all of our models share different installation requirements, because of this this model uses different mounting brackets than other models.
This model is configured from factory to vent in recirculating mode, but you can adjust this by following the instructions on pages 14 to 20 of the owner's manual here: https://files.bbystatic.com/wB3J2yNSpbWTDBLWuwOHDQ%3D%3D/Installation%2Binstructions

I really like the closed bottom. Lights are nice and there are 2 levels. Quieter than the hood we replaced. We are using it as ductless, but like the fact that we can convert it to vent outside at a later time.

At first we were concerned that it will extend too far out. When installed, turned out to be an excellent fit and matched the stainless steal finish of our range. Fans are quiet and the look is excellent

GE 30" Convertible Range Hood

To reduce the heat signature from the hood lights, the halogen bulbs were switch out to compatible 35 watt LED bulbs. Works perfect!
