The unit says it is for a 9 foot ceiling, however when I opened the box the instructions say it fits an 8 foot 9 inch ceiling. I had to buy the extension kit.

We have only had this for two years, and it's completely stopped working after making a loud squeaking sound. (This was one of 5 GE appliances we purchase from Best Buy when we bought our house, and this is one of three that has has issues). Neither Best Buy or GE are any help after your warranty. Like people have hundreds of dollars to replace poorly made appliances every few years! Stay far away.

After the cabinets went it we installed this hood. It's beautiful functional and made the kitchen in an older home pop. It was the final touch to a remodeled modern kitchen. I wish it were mine, whoever buys this house will be wowed by the beautiful clean lines.
