Posted .It's possible the Sleep feature or the Timer has been activated on the unit which would cause it to power off. When a Time Delay is programmed, the Timer indicator light will illuminate. Posted .For optimal performance place this portable unit 20” from the exterior wall. For all other sides a minimum distance of 30” should be maintained. When on High the dB rating is 56. Regarding the noise, we would suggest also reviewing an article on our website by searching "Air Conditioner Noise On Start Up". If you find that the noise is not related to the normal sounds. Then please follow the Limited warranty details found in the manual on the website (page 17).

Posted .We are happy that this portable air conditioner was easy to install and we would like to provide guidance with this unit. Your air conditioner not cooling as expected can be caused by multiple factors including indoor air flow being restricted. Make sure there are not curtains, blinds or furniture blocking the front of the air conditioner. The air filter being dirty has a direct effect on the performance of this unit. Clean the filter at least every 30 days. Wash the filter using liquid dishwashing detergent and warm water. Rinse the filter thoroughly. Gently shake excess water from the filter. We have also provided some additional troubleshooting tips for this unit not properly cooling on page 15 of the Owner's Manual. If the tips provided do not help with the cooling performance, we advise taking advantage of your limited warranty. You can view your warranty details on page 17 of the Owner's Manual.

The only reason I purchased this one is because GE gave me a discount coupon since the previous two I owned died after a year. This one made it just a little longer with very light use. I got two years out of it almost. I would not recommend any GE product as far as dehumidifier or air conditioner.
